Waterfall Cardigans, Printed Shorts And V-Neck Tees With Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC

It's been a very hot spring so far in Brisbane but the mornings and evenings started out a little cooler, so I decided to add some cardigans to my shorts and tee outfits to keep me warm. Even if I did end up taking both cardigans off by lunchtime 😂

What I wore:

Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in grey marl
Shorts: Jeanswest Parker printed shirred short
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white

Why I wore it:

I really like pink and purple together and I like how this purpley-magenta cardigan works so nicely with the neon pink Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag. They were fun accessories with the monochromatic grey tee and black printed shirt too. The cardigan became much too hot halfway round the trail the kids were biking and scooting around so I quickly took it off. Had been perfect in the colder start to the day though.

Nice quiet day with the kids, shorts and tee and Converse was a great outfit, even if the cardigan didn't stay on long.

Why I wore it:

This navy cardigan didn't stay on long at all! It had seemed like a nice idea in the morning but I quickly realised during swimming lessons that it was far too hot for it, and left it in the car!

I did like the way the navy cardigan worked so well with the navy printed shorts and the bright mustard tee, just was a much warmer day than I anticipated! I like mustard and navy together, and although the yellow in the print on the shorts is lemon I think the mustard tee paired nice with it and was a fun pop of colour with the navy. I went a little matchy-matchy with my accessories, wearing my metallic silver mini MAC bag and also my glittery silver sneakers.

How You Can Wear It:
In spring and autumn, cardigans are great layers to add for the cooler mornings and evenings and aren't too bulky to pop in a bag if you take them off during the day. You can try wearing your cardigans with printed shorts when you know the day is going to heat up, using the cardigan to add more colour like I did in the first outfit, or matching the print in the shorts like I did in the second outfit.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Navy Blouses and Colourful Pants Business Casual For Spring

I love a good outfit formula, so for today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm sharing two very similar outfits I recently worn to work with colourful pants and classic navy blouses and my slouchy Balenciaga Part Time bag.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

First wearing of this new navy blouse I picked up in the Target clearance sales! In the last days of the sales things are often reduced to $5, so when I needed a break from the office one lunch time I headed to target in the city to browse the sale. I got this great blouse reduced from $39 to $20 and then the extra 50% off made it $10, not a bad deal! I tried on a few other things but this was the only one that worked. The statement necklace was another new purchase and impulse buy, just $3 from the opshop! September was a month of impulse buying for me.

It's not the first time I've worn these burgundy pants with navy tops, it is a frequent go-to combo! I kept the rest of the accessories simple, with the silver ballet flats, black Balenciaga Part Time bag and metallic necklace, to let the colours be the star of the outfit.

The only thing I did notice with this blouse is that the collar on the back pulls it down quite a bit with the extra weight - as it's a flowy swing style it's not fitted enough to stay in place. I'll need to try tuck it in next time I wear it! It was nice and comfortable for work, and I like the cute piping detail along the sides of the sleeves, even if I did forget to get a good pic of it as I was so busy giving our little doggy guest some pats! She's squeezing in all the pats she can while being dog sat by us before she returns to her family.

Why I wore it:

Unlike the first navy blouse, this one is an oldie. I picked it up on sale last year and it's been the best addition to my wardrobe. I like the studded detail for a little extra interest, and the tie at the neckline means that I didn't need to add a necklace with this. I did add my teal earrings though for a little extra colour. With the navy blouse, olive pants and teal earrings I kept the accessories simple again, going with my fave black ballet flats and my Balenciaga Part Time bag.

Just like the outfit above, these olive pants have been worn with navy before, even though it's surprisingly the first time I've worn this blouse and jeans together before. Got to love a business casual environment where people can wear jeans through the week - these olive ones look deceptively like standard pants but have all the comfort of jeans! They are so good at doing double duty for work and SAHM days.

My nails are OPI a good man-darin is hard to find, just like in the outfit above. I felt like getting this bright colour out again for spring.

Graphic Tees and Floral Kimonos With Denim For Spring

Continuing to enjoy the milder spring weather in Brisbane and wearing two pretty floral kimonos. Because florals are perfect for spring! Keeping things simple, as always, I wore the kimonos with denim, but decided to wear graphic tees instead of plain ones for something a little different.

Why I wore it:

While it was a bit of a cooler spring day I thought it was the perfect opportunity to wear this long sleeved kimono. It's such a fun bright magenta, with a hint of orange and blue in the floral print. It really pops with the Nobody Denim black skinny jeans, and the Edinburgh graphic tee I picked up on our Europe trip earlier this year matched the blue in the print nicely. I couldn't resist adding a little extra colour with my bag though! this peachy Rebecca Minkoff small love bag wouldn't normally be my first choice with magenta but with the orange in the flowers on the print I decided to give it a go and I really loved this combination!

Nice and comfortable outfit for church in the morning before a big family dinner at my parents in the afternoon.

Why I wore it:

This was a much warmer spring day, so I had to get my shorts out! I wore this back in September, the first month of spring, but I wasn't expecting to need my shorts so early in the season!

Unfortunately, I had a bunch of errands to run, but the boys were very patient and we headed to the park as soon as we were done. The heat ended up driving us home from the playground though, it was over 30 degrees (86 F). More like summer than spring!

As I knew we would be rushing about in the morning before heading to the sandy playground I picked my comfortable Converse to wear, they look so good with denim! Again I picked a graphic tee to wear with the floral kimono, I thought this navy one was a good combo with the green floral, even if the graphic print is quite large. Decided the silver Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag was the best accessory, as the graphic tee and the floral printed kimono meant I didn't want a necklace. This metallic silver goes with everything!

A floral kimono is a fun topper to a casual denim and tee outfit. For something a little different, swap out a basic tee for one with a graphic design on it! You can match the graphic print to a colour in the kimono like the first outfit, or pick a contrasting colour like in the second outfit.
