Frill Sleeve Tees, Printed Shorts and Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag

Wearing some of the wonderful pieces I got for Christmas, but as always sticking with the simple outfit formulas I love. Some frill sleeve statement tees, printed shorts and my new Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag that I got for Christmas.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

As well as the new tee and bag, these shorts were a new purchase. I tried to resist the January sales, but the Kmart clearance was too tempting and I scored these $15 shorts for $5. Since my other pair of blue printed shorts reached 30 wears, I knew these would become a firm favourite in my wardrobe. The print I thought was wattle but the tag says lemon. I decided to pair this bright pink tee with them due to the pastel pink in the print. With all of the colour and the printed colourful headband as well I added the neutral gold sandals and almond Rebecca Minkoff camera bag to balance it all out.

I wasn't too sure if the headband was too much with this outfit, given the bright colours, statement sleeves and tie on the shorts, but I think it worked nicely together in the end, and helped disguise a bad hair day a little bit!

The shorts were perfect for a first wear, and a practical choice for running around with the boys at a playground in the morning.


Last worn: navy headscarf, rose gold sandals. First time I've worn the pink tee, blue necklace and camera bag as they are Christmas gifts, and first time I've worn the shorts as they are a recent purchase.

Why I wore it:

Since I liked the first outfit so much, I repeated the same outfit formula again later for a busy day. Park with the boys in the morning, seeing hubby off to the airport on a work trip, then dinner and watching Church Online at my friend's house in the evening. It was a hot and humid day, so shorts and a tee seemed like a good option. We didn't stay at the park for too long before heading back to the aircon!

First time I wore this navy statement sleeve tee I paired it with the pastel pink tassel necklace. I really liked the combination, so wanted to try it again. The tassel also worked nicely with the tassel tie on the printed shorts.

Navy and black is a combination I've worn together a few times before - I used to be unsure of it until I bought a dress years ago (before the blog) that featured both colours, and figured if it was good enough for the dress is was good enough for me to try with separates! The neutrals work nicely together. Added in another neutral accessory to the combination with the almond Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag.

Some casual weekday style for this week's Weekday Wear Linkup!

I extended my Christmas holidays from work into January. It gave me a lot more time at home with the boys, and we took advantage of the opportunity to try a different park to play at each day. I kept things simple for playground style: plain tees, denim shorts and fun kimonos for a little bit of sun coverage.

Why I wore it:

Say hello to my new favourite kimono! This kimono was a Christmas gift from my mum, and one of those clothing pieces where you just pull it on and feel so happy with the outfit! Expect to see this popping up a lot more often on my blog. The pink beaded necklace added a little more colour to my outfit - it too was a Christmas gift from my mum. With the pink necklace, I added the pastel pink Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag as well as the studded Balenciaga sandals. I like pink and purple together and though none of these shades of pink matched I thought that they all worked nicely together and with the floral kimono.

I really enjoyed this outfit - nice and simple for a day at the park.

Why I wore it:

After a few days in a row of spending time around all the local parks, I felt a needed a little more coverage from the sun so picked out another new floral kimono - this one also a Christmas gift from my mum. With the plain white tee and the black denim shorts it was a nice pop of colour. And with the blue in the floral print, I thought this necklace (also a new Christmas gift) was a nice finishing touch. I kept with the Rebecca Minkoff small Darren bag as it compliments the colours in the flowers nicely.

We went to a new-to-me park that the boys have been to before, it has a big racing track for bikes and scooters which they had a wonderful time running around. I was glad I had the kimono for physical sunblock for my arms as there wasn't a lot of shade around.

Just like the first outfit, I stuck with gold shoes even though the bag has silver hardware - I figured that the metals were far enough apart from each other that they worked.

Shorts and a tee is such a staple summer outfit, and so easy to change up a little when you add a bright printed kimono on top. These floral kimonos are lightweight so an ideal way to add an extra layer of interest and colour to your outfit without overheating you in the middle of summer! They work well as an extra bit of sun protection too.

Soft Shorts, Tees And Colourful Rebecca Minkoff Micro Regan and Mini MAC Bags

You know I love my bright handbags, and I have quite a few colourful Rebecca Minkoff bags. Making the most of the lovely summer weather here in Brisbane at the start of January, I headed to some different parks with the boys, and accessorised the plain shorts and tee outfits with some fun bags.

What I wore:

Necklace: gifted Kmart pink multi-colour beaded necklace
Tee: Jeanswest black scoop neck tee
Shorts: Jeanswest Parker printed shirred short
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff neon pink mini MAC

Why I wore it:

This is one of those outfits that looks nice in the photos but really wasn't good to wear. I'd planned it the night before, while in the aircon, and decided that this plain black tee would look so good with the printed black shorts. They do look nice together, and the pink accessories were such a fun touch with all of the black - the hot pink mini MAC bag really pops against the neutral outfit.

However monochrome black was not such a good choice for a hot summer day on one of the local walking trails! Especially as I forgot my water bottle.

If I'd been inside for more of the day, or wore this on a cooler day or on a shadier trail, I would have liked it more than I did.


Last worn: black printed shorts, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff neon mini MAC. First time I've worn the tee as I recently got it from my sister's wardrobe, and the necklace was a Christmas present.

Why I wore it:

This  outfit was much better suited for a day out in the sun! The tee is another new-to-me one from my sister's wardrobe. It's not the first time I've won these olive embroidered shorts with stripes, I really like the combo so when I got this navy stripe tee I knew I wanted to try it with the shorts right away.

The mustard micro Regan bag is another frequently worn option with the olive shorts too, I really like mustard and olive together.

Even with the mustard bag and olive shorts, I added another colour with the necklace and bracelets - I picked some of my new rose gold accessories. I have this Kmart necklace in navy and gold and I am thrilled to have the pink and gold version now too! I thought it matched matched my pink, rose gold and pearl bracelet stack well, especially with the addition of the rose gold sandals. The shiny accessories were a bit more dressed up than a playdate at the park called for, but it was a cute touch of sparkle for the final day of the year.

Shorts and a tee is a staple summer outfit. On hot days, soft lightweight shorts like these are a good option for dealing with the heat. A practical outfit for running around a playground with the kids too! Maybe just don't pair a black tee with them if you're out in the sun!

Plain V-Neck Tees With Textured Pencil Skirts, Statement Necklaces and Rebecca Minkoff Regan Bag | Weekday Wear Linkup

A pencil skirt and tee is a great office outfit! If you work in a business casual office like mine, it fits in with everyone else wearing jeans during the week. If your office is a little more formal, you might be able to wear this for casual Friday. You can always throw a blazer on top too if you need to be a little more dressed up.

I paired two of my fave v-neck tees with some textured pencil skirts and statement necklaces for simple summer office style.

Why I wore it:

This polka dot pencil skirt is an old favourite, and I usually end up pairing it with black, such a simple choice to match the fuzzy dots on the mesh. This plain black tee which has been a frequent go to since I bought it seemed like a nice option that I hadn't tried before.

I added the statement necklace to dress my outfit up a little. It was a busy day of meetings and presenting, so I added a blazer in my bag too, although it was much too hot for me to wear it in the photos that morning! I was pleased when my necklace got a few compliments during the day, the plain black tee really made it pop! The work day flew by too which was nice.

Why I wore it:

As you can see, I went and bought the white version of this tee since I loved the black so much! 😂 Instead of sizing down like I did with the black tee, I stuck with my regular size in this, hoping if it was a more relaxed fit it would be a little less sheer. I didn't have to worry though. This shirt isn't completely opaque but you can't see a nude bra under it so I'm happy. I did contemplate exchanging it (The Iconic have an awesome returns policy) but I decided to keep this size anyway. I do think it looked a little more casual than the outfit above though as the tee is more relaxed. I kept my blazer on for most of the time in the office, although I did take it off for our team lunch to enjoy the sunshine!

I really liked the plain white tee with the blue lace skirt, I've worn this skirt frequently with white tops before. I did feel it was lacking a little something though so I added the green necklace for a little pop of colour. My nails were green too, to match the Instagram style prompt of the day, but as I didn't take a closeup pic you'll just have to imagine it!

Printed Tees, Denim Shorts and Balenciaga G21 Hardware Bags

When it's a hot and humid weekend, I default to the simple summer outfit: shorts and tee! For something a little different, I'm wearing some printed tees and accessorising with Balenciaga bags.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

This tee is so rarely worn. It's a bit bold and in your face, being orange leopard print, but it was perfect for the 'orange kisses' style prompt with the style challenge I was doing on Instagram. It's also super soft and so comfortable to wear. While I wear it really sparingly, I was once again reminded of how much I love it, so it's definitely still hanging around in my wardrobe (even if this is only it's fifth wear in 4 years!). Hopefully it doesn't go so long between wears in future!

With the bold orange neon tee I felt simple was best so stuck with black accessories. Black denim shorts, Havaianas, and my black Balenciaga part time bag. Even though the pendant necklace is gold and the studded hardware on my bag is silver, I felt they looked okay together.

This was a simple outfit to take my parents in the airport in the morning and then run a few errands with the boys and pick up some last minute food pieces for a Christmas party in the evening (which I got changed for). Mid January and I'm still posting December pics, eek!

Why I wore it:

I didn't like this outfit as much as the one above! It was a busy day. There was a threat of a storm all day but we decided to head to the local Christmas markets anyway as I'd seen a stall holder advertising on facebook that I really wanted to check out to pick up the final Christmas gift off my list. Unfortunately, the threat of the storm had meant there weren't as many stall holders as planned and the stall I wanted wasn't there. We found an alternative present, but it wasn't as good as my first choice option, and did mean we had to stop at the shops on the way home to pick up a couple of other little things.

I wanted to try something different and do a little print mixing with this tee - I thought the navy polka dots would be a nice back ground for this red printed kimono. I really like red and navy together. I didn't love this outfit as much as I'd hoped though. The print mixing looked great when I held the pieces up side by side the night before but not so much once I wore them in the morning. Feeling hot and bothered all day with the humidity didn't help me love my outfit any more either, haha!

Printed Tops and Maxi Skirts With Red Rebecca Minkoff Micro Avery Bag

Such a simple outfit formula - pick a printed top and pair it with a plain maxi skirt! Since both the polka dot cami and logo tee have a little red in them, I thought my Rebecca Minkoff mini Avery bag was the best accessory for both outfits.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a busy day! We had our final ABA meeting for the year, so it was Christmas themed. It was also, sadly, our last time at the Australian Breastfeeding association group meetings. The new year means a change of day for the sessions and we can't make it on the new day unfortunately! I'm still a member and will try organise some pram walks on the days we are free so I can still catch up with my friends.

After a slightly emotional morning, it was off to run errands. The post office was okay, but waiting in line at the bank with two kids who had filled up on sugary morning tea (including chocolate brownies I brought along for the group) probably wasn't the best option. 😂

Hyper kids aside, I really liked this outfit. It was comfortable for the day and the red and green necklace, which can be worn year-round, definitely didn't look out of place at the Christmas party.

Why I wore it:

I was doing a couple of Instagram style challenges in December and the theme for the day on them both was stripes. I hard a hard time picking one piece to wear, stripes are definitely my favourite print! I settled on this fun Coca-Cola thrifted tee, as I thought it went really nicely with this chambray maxi skirt. It's not the first time I've worn this chambray skirt and little red Avery bag together, they are a lovely combo. It tied in nicely with the red logo on the striped tee too.

The boys and I had a quieter day - a couple of errands to run (including picking up food for the daycare Christmas party later in the week) and then some time playing at the playground. Nice easy outfit for all of that.

A plain maxi skirt is a great outfit base, letting you pick any printed piece to wear with it - stripes or polka dots work equally well. They are also a nice option for a hot summer day as a stay at home mum as you can easily run after the kids (and break up wrestling games in the bank) in them!
