Weekday Wear Link Up: Grey Tees, Blue Maxis And Blush Rebecca Minkoff Darren Messenger Bag

For today's weekday wear linkup, I'm sharing two outfits with my go-to pink and blue colour combination, taking blue maxis and adding grey tees and a blush pink bag. The first outfit is with a maxi dress and the second a maxi skirt.

What I wore:

spring layered maxi dress outfit grey tee knotted over navy dress pastel pink bag | awayfromblue

navy printed maxi dress with Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony | awayfromtheblue

Necklace: Target silver Alisha trinity pendant necklace
Tee: Jeanswest 'Lucy' colour block tee in grey marle/rosebud
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagRebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony (more affordable preowned!)

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a very busy Friday! I wanted something simple and comfortable to wear that morning so decided to layer up this blue maxi dress with a grey tee to dress it down a little for what I anticipated to be a quiet day with the school run. Until, running late for school, I went to zip up my son's lunch bag and realised it had broken and wouldn't zip up and so wouldn't keep his food cool. Luckily managed to find a replacement one for him to use for the day, but it then meant spending far too long walking around the local Westfield shopping centre hunting for a replacement lunchbox. Of course at halfway through the last term for the year there was not a lot of choice! Luckily I managed to find one in the end, that my son approved of when I picked him up from school. Phew!

I did like this outfit - the knotted tee looked good with the navy printed maxi dress and because the tee has a pink panel on the back I decided to wear my Rebecca Minkoff peony pink Darren bag with it, even though they are different shades of pink I think they compliment nicely. Stuck with simple silver accessories to match the hardware on the bag with the silver necklace and ballet flats.

What I wore:

spring SAHM outfit with dark grey tee and pink floral print maxi skirt pastel rebecca minkoff bag | away from blue

floral print maxi skirt with Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony | away from the blue

Necklace: navy and silver circle pendant tassel necklace
TeeAtmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
Skirt: Ally Fashion blue border print floral maxi skirt
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
BagRebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony (more affordable preowned!)

Why I wore it:

A very similar outfit, but this time it's a grey tee with a printed blue maxi skirt. I surprisingly hadn't worn this tee and skirt together before, seems like such an obvious pairing with the neutral grey tee and the colourful floral print skirt. Again with the Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag as it matches the pink florals so nicely! And I picked another necklace with silver hardware to match the bag too. I was wearing simple but comfortable sandals (not that you can see them with the skirt caught in the breeze...).

This was another day of traipsing around the shops after school drop off - although a planned one, as it happened before the day above! Haven't been to the shops in weeks and suddenly went twice in one week! I again masked up to visit a few different stores in an effort to track down a bike for my son's Christmas. Thankfully despite the bike shortages we were able to find one, and I ticked off a few more purchases off my list. Really want to be organised in advance for Christmas this year as postage can be slow as we get closer to December!

How You Can Wear It:

A grey tee is such a nice basic neutral, perfect for pairing with a printed piece in your outfit. Just like blue and grey, blue and pink go together beautifully too so a pink bag is a great way to accessorise a blue and grey outfit.

Striped Tee Dresses With Pink and Purple Accessories: Balenciaga Bags and High Tops

Two incredibly similar outfits following an almost identical outfit formula. Striped tee dresses like these are perfect for spring, especially when you add bright accessories like purple high tops, Balenciaga bags and an extra touch of pink.

What I wore:

Dress: thrifted Kmart white and navy long sleeve stripe tee dress
ShoesPurple high top Converse look-a-likes

Why I wore it:

Wore this to take the kids out to the movies! Movie theatres have been open for a while when the restrictions lifted but we haven't really felt the need to go. We haven't been big movie goers since having kids, so it wasn't like we felt we were missing out when things were closed. My sister scored us free family tickets to a Paw Patrol movie though, so we decided to take advantage and take the kids out to their first movie of the year. The last one we saw at the movies together was Frozen 2!

While it was a warm spring day I knew it would be cold in the cinema so I took the opportunity to wear this long sleeved tee dress I thrifted a few weeks ago. Added more colour to it with the purple high top shoes and Balenciaga work bag. Even though the shades of purple are very different I thought they looked good together. The pink skull scarf was another way to add even more colour and picked again for extra warmth in the cinema.

It was a really fun morning out and I'm glad we went - even if the kids were getting annoyed with how frequently I was getting them to sanitise their hands!

Why I wore it:

This was another fun day! Had a rather boring morning of errands and getting my tax done, but I got to spend the afternoon with my sister who stayed for dinner with us.

This striped tee dress is actually one from my sister's wardrobe, I gained it in one of her wardrobe clear-outs luckily! With the neutral black and white stripes I used accessories again to add more colour, with the purple high tops (also from my sister's wardrobe clear-out... ) and a touch of pink with the marble necklace and Balenciaga sorbet city bag.

I've shared 30 ways to wear this pink Balenciaga city bag before and wearing it with black is a combination I've worn heavily over the 10 years I've had it. It just pops so well! I really liked this outfit. Perfect for such a hot day too.

How You Can Wear It:

A stripe tee dress is a good basic to have in your wardrobe, especially in neutral colours. You can change it up each time you wear it with brightly coloured accessories. Add more colours with shoes, bags, and scarves or necklaces depending on the weather.

Weekday Wear Link Up : Striped Tees, Maxi Skirts and Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran Bag

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup it's a simple staple mum outfit formula! Striped tees and maxi skirts. The simple stripes look so good with the block colour maxi skirts. I accessorised with my Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag that I recently took out my wardrobe for a spin, realised it needs to be worn more!

What I wore:

marc by marc jacobs classic q fran bag with navy striped tee, orange maxi skirt, gold sandals in spring | away from the blue

ochre maxi skirt and Marc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown | away from blue

TeeAtmos&Here navy stripe v-neck tee
Skirt: thrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
ShoesNovo Tawny rose gold sandals
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

Wore this a few weeks ago to participate in the Ooshie swap day. The boys wanted a couple more Ooshies to play with, as we had already completed our collection, and I wanted to give away the piles of extra ones we had! The swap day was done slightly differently this year to be COVID safe, but it was less hectic than last year as a result so we enjoyed it! I'm just glad the Ooshie madness is over now.

It was good to get out with the kids - we've been avoiding crowded places with them and sticking with parks and trails instead, but they enjoyed getting out to the shops and weren't too upset we had to run a few errands after the swap day!

I like navy with this ochre maxi skirt, so this navy stripe tee seemed like a good pairing, and with the gold hardware on the Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran bag I picked my gold sandals to wear, as we didn't have to walk very far so it wouldn't put a lot of pressure on my knee injury. I really liked the way the brownish-purple bag went with the ochre maxi skirt too.

Other ways to wearnavy stripe tee and shorts, ochre maxi skirt and foil tee, gold sandals and tee dress, Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran bag in the office.

Why I wore it:

Since I liked the outfit formula above so much, I repeated it! This time with a grey striped tee and a navy maxi skirt. Again I think the Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran bag went well with this and it was the perfect size to hold our water bottles when my youngest son and I went for a little walk after school drop off.

It was a little windy so perhaps this maxi skirt with the slits up the sides wasn't the best choice, but it was definitely nice and comfortable!

How You Can Wear It:

You can't beat a striped tee as a wardrobe staple! It goes with everything and paired with a block colour maxi skirt is a good choice for a hot spring day.

What I Bought In October And How I've Worn It:

I only bought two things this month so thought I'd add them onto this post rather than giving them a post of their own:

I needed new shoes to support my knee (my old running shoes were literally falling apart and looked really ugly, especially for shoes I've been having to wear so much). I ended up finding these on sale at the Iconic for just $88 and took the leap, cautiously trying them out on carpet for a while before I decided to keep them. As they were a purchase for my knee and not something I'd ever have bought otherwise, I'm not going to include them in my budget spend at the end of the year. And I'm really hoping they don't become a permanent fixture here, I'm doing what I can to strengthen my knee at home so I can return to normal activities and normal shoe choices for summer - but the physio did warn this  injury could take a year to heal.

The dress was, like the last Kmart dress I bought, a total impulse buy! I was desperately hunting for a bike we had promised to buy for Christmas, with the bike shortage in Australia making that tricky. Once I'd managed to find the bike at Kmart I saw a rack of new dresses about to be put out on the sale floor and this pink dress called to me! Like the same one I have in orange, it was just $15 and loose and light, perfect for summer!
