When the opshop (thrift store) reopened after COVID restrictions lifted they changed their opening days and hours and are now only open for a few hours in the middle of the week, when I'm working, so I haven't visited this store since January! Being able to visit on a day off was wonderful. It did mean that I bought a LOT of things though.
While I did carefully consider each purchase and didn't buy everything I saw, I didn't manage to meet my goal of wearing everything I buy twice in the month I buy it as I shopped so late in the month. I'm giving myself another pass on not meeting my goal though, as I honestly don't know when the next time I'll be able to visit this opshop would be and I wanted to grab some deals! I just ran out of days in September to wear everything twice 😂
I share a little more about the prices and why I bought each piece in the video, as well as a try on session with everything.
What I Bought:
- Kmart short sleeve textured dolman top in marigold $12
- Kmart short sleeve tiered jersey dress in amber $15
- thrifted digital print no label kimono $1
- thrifted Kmart black and cream stripe tee $1
- thrifted Kmart white and navy long sleeve stripe tee dress $1
- thrifted blue statement beaded necklace $2
- thrifted gold and cream multi strand pearl necklace $2
- thrifted gold and marble statement necklace $2 (not pictured or in video as I just bought it this week!)
How I've Worn It:
As you can see I did hit my "wear twice in the month I buy it" goal with most of the pieces, except the white striped dress and the necklace I bought the last few days of September. I set myself this goal a few years ago after too many wardrobe clear outs where I would come across things I hadn't even worn. If I can think of two ways to wear something immediately it's got a good chance of staying in my wardrobe and being a versatile piece that will work for my lifestyle. Over time it's changed from wearing things twice in a month after buying them to wearing things twice in the month I buy it. It ensures I'm not buying things anticipating the weather or the things I'll be doing too far in advance. As we all know nothing goes according to plan, especially in 2020! Still haven't worn that blazer I bought for the office back in February that arrived just before Iso....
I'm pleased with what I got this month, great additions to my spring / summer wardrobe and all at very budget friendly prices that makes me happy.
You did amazing job finding good clothes, Mica. It's a good rule about wearing everything more then once, make you thing twice before buying a new piece. Have a great long weekend

The rule has worked so well for me! :)
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteMiss K Mart in our area! (East Tenn) They all closed! Cute outfits!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame they closed! They are going strong here as it's a different company despite the same name - they are taking over the closing Target stores :)
DeleteYea, I think you can get a pass since things are still so weird everywhere. I'm sure you'll get in your two wears this month!
ReplyDeleteI think the marigold dress is my favorite, such a bright and happy piece!

Oh wow. I am so glad you were able to visit the thrift store finally after all of that time. It must have been so exciting! Everything you bought is so stunning. And I absolutely love the goal of wearing something twice in the month that you bought it. That is a really smart way of incorporating a new piece into your existing wardrobe!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Yes it was so good to go back to my fave store! I got a good pile of books too! :) The wear twice rule has worked really well for me!
DeleteI also try to wear my clothes right away, but not two wearings. I do buy things out of season, but those are always the first to be worn when I swap to my fall/winter wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI think the marigold dress is the best of the lot. The colour, the style, the magnificent SWOOSH of it! It really suits you, Mica! I enjoyed the haul, thank you! I love seeing you 'in person'. :)
Thank you! I always love when you kick off the season with the new pieces you set aside from your earlier shopping! :)
DeleteWow you did well, Mica, and yes, it would have been silly to pass the opportunity when the op-shop was open unexpectedly on your day off. I love your rule of wearing everything twice in the month you bought it, although you are forgiven if it didn't happen for the items you bought in the last few days! I often buy things out of season, so I regularly have things I'm not wearing for months! xxx
ReplyDeleteI find buying out of season didn't always work for me - so buying in-season seems to work best :)
DeleteGreat clothes :-D
ReplyDeleteThat dress with the jean jacket... I AM LOVINGGGGGGG
ReplyDeleteThese are such great finds, love these versatile pieces!

ReplyDeleteLove how you styled these pieces, Mica:) And marigold really does look fab on you!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a lovely Friday so far:) Stay safe.
You are always so good about wearing what you get right away Mica. I've been trying to do that too, yet it can be hard when I get too many things...haha!!

DeleteI love those necklaces! Also the one you are wearing in the video. And the marigold tee is wonderful too. Great purchases!
ReplyDeleteThe necklace I wore in the video is thrifted too! :)
Deletetotally love that amber dress! those are great haul!
ReplyDeleteI need to adopt the idea of wear it twice the month I buy it - that is a great idea. You made great choices Mica!

It would have been a shame not to take advantage of the fact that you could visit the store, even if that meant you didn´t meet your goal. This year we need to take the opportunities when we get them!
ReplyDeleteYes I'm all for finding joy in the little things when I can!
DeleteWhat great finds! I'm going to have to remember the "wear something twice" rule. I really like the top left photo with the orange midi, jacket and scarf--it looks like you're having so much fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's really helped me - I no longer find things new with tags when I do a wardrobe clearout!
DeleteI can totally feel you, not having the chace to get your fav shops for months is pretty frustrating.... But I'm happy to see that you've finally had a full session of shopping!
ReplyDeleteYou've found so many very cute pieces!
And really your rule about wearing the new thing has sense; I've never thought of it but it's pretty true!

I am the same with you when it comes to spending money. I spent so much less but for some reason, but shopping $$ stayed the same. Love that you got a ton of clothes for such a good price!! I can't even find a top for a dollar! Love how you paired the outfits too!

Such cute fall looks. Most of the Kmarts went out of business here in America.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame they closed! They are going strong here as it's a different company despite the same name - they are taking over the closing Target stores :)
DeleteSuch a great haul! I certainly think you can be excused for not meeting your goal under these circumstances. I love that marigold color! I haven’t seen any of it in the States. I hope it makes its way here. I’d like to try it.

The striped dress is amazing and I love how it looks on you. I also like the striped top. If you ask me, we cannot have enough striped items in your closet. Stripes are always chic.
ReplyDeleteI agree - stripes are always classic! :)
DeleteI just love the two different ways you styled that marigold dress, what a beauty!

I love all of the colour in what you bought! I'm currently switching up my wardrobe for Autumn/Winter and am not going to buy much - a cardigan, jumper & pair of jeans. I don't need much plus we're not really going anywhere at the moment! x

These are some amazing finds! It's also a great idea to wear the things you buy twice in the month you wear them. I might have to implement something similar since I find I'l always the most excited to wear things when they're new (to me) :)
