White Tees, Colourful Jeans, Cardigans and Printed Scarves

Two simple outfits for mornings at the park - bright denim, white tees, cosy scarves and cardigans with ankle boots and my Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag. Easy mum style!

What I wore:

ScarfStella McCartney heart print scarf
TeeAtmos & Here white essential v-neck tee
Jeans: thrifted ASOS petite green skinny jeans
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather

Why I wore it:

When I was unpacking my winter stuff and saw this scarf, I instantly thought of putting together this outfit. I wore it recently with a tee dress, and was excited to take the chance to wear it with the jeans! I love blue and green together and knew that the white tee would be the perfect base with the green and blue.

It was such a good outfit for a playdate in the park too, with some other parents I hadn't met before. Telling someone to look out for the green jeans works so well at a busy playground! It was nice to meet the mums and dads for the first time, and everyone commented on the jeans being a good idea as they stood out! Although the Rebecca Minkoff aquamarine Mini MAC bag is a completely different shade from the emerald green jeans I thought they went together really nicely.

It turned into a really warm day in the sun as the kids played together so I ended up taking my cardigan off. It had been a nice neutral topper for the outfit but was much too warm in the middle of the day, especially with the ankle boots and blanket scarf.

Why I wore it:

More colourful jeans! I wore my red pair this time, also a thrifted pair like the green ones above. It was a quieter day at the playground though - we have so many great parks around us so that it's often only a few kids in the parks on weekdays, and our favourite one is always quiet.

It's not the first time I've worn these red jeans with the navy cardigan, navy and red is a colour combination I keep coming back to! I know the red jeans would be perfect with this scarf too, it's a fun mix of colours and looks nice with the navy striped tee.

I did consider a red bag with this outfit but decided on the Rebecca Minkoff aqua mini MAC instead as I thought the pants were red enough, and they already matched the scarf.

It was a colder day when I wore this outfit so I was thankful the boys didn't want to spend too much time at the park. A quick stop on the way home to pick up groceries and then a quiet afternoon at home.

Colourful Jeans Under $50:

How You can Wear It:

Bright denim is such a fun alternative to a classic pair of blue jeans! Still oh-so easy to wear with the skinny jeans staple of a tee, they make a really colourful outfit paired with other bright accessories or layers like a scarf, cardigan or bag.

Weekday Wear Linkup: Feather Print Scarves & Pencil Skirts For Winter Office Wear

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup, I'm wearing two similar pencil skirt outfits for work with some fun feather detail scarves. One is a feather print scarf and the other is embroidered feathers. Both are wonderfully cosy!

What I wore:

camel trench coat, feather print scarf, white jumper, blush polka dot pencil skirt, Mulberry bayswater | awayfromblue

oak NVT Mulberry heritage bayswater bag | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
Earrings: Ana Luisa 'Olivia' tassel earrings in pink
Scarf: Nali feather print pashmina scarf
Jumper: white vintage knit jumper from my mum's wardrobe
SkirtCotton On 'Mica' mesh spot skirt in dusty pink
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
BagMulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather (cheaper second hand)

Why I wore it:

It was a really cold day when I wore this! I know I've worn this pencil skirt recently but I really wanted to wear it again, this time with a cosy white knit that's originally from my mums wardrobe. Even the ribbed jumper wasn't enough to keep me warm though, the taupe feather print scarf was a must have for the cold morning. So were the ankle boots!

With all of the neutrals I went with my pink tassel earrings to add a little more colour, even though it's a brighter pink than the blush of the skirt I think it worked nicely.

Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in grey marl
Skirt:  Jeanswest zip detail ponte pencil skirt
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
BagMulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather (cheaper second hand)

Why I wore it:

I felt a bit flustered this morning! The weather was much warmer, which meant me ditching the knit I'd planned to wear the night before, and just wearing a grey tee under my navy coat. I still wanted to wear my pretty feather embroidered scarf though, and I thought the darker grey worked nicely with the lighter grey of the tee.

With having to change my outfit at the last minute because of the weather, and already running a little late, I had a very rushed start to the day, especially after taking the first few photos with my bag facing backwards, and having to retake them again so you could actually see the detail on the Mulberry bayswater bag! Thankfully the day improved from there.

How You Can Wear It:

A simple neutral top works well with a pencil skirt in the office. You can wear a knit if it's colder or a casual tee when it warms up a little. You can add a scarf for some extra interest and warmth in your daily commute too, and a printed or embroidered one is a great idea if your top is a basic neutral.

Knotted Knits Over Maxi Dresses With Rebecca Minkoff Love Bag

My previous post was all about wearing cosy knits with maxi skirts, today I'm showing you how I wear knits and maxi dresses together. Using a petite style hack when a top is too long for my shorter frame - just tie a knot in it! It works well with a soft knit and a maxi dress when otherwise the knit would be too long to hit at a flattering length.

What I wore:

Necklace: blush pink and gold beaded tassel necklace
Jumper: thrifted Valleygirl blue knit jumper
DressJeanswest Sophia high-low maxi dress
ShoesAtmos&Here tan Lola leather ankle boots
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

Why I wore it:

This cobalt knit is one of my favourites to pull out every winter! Thrifted back in 2015, it's always so fun to wear, and I was even wearing it in my previous post too! With 13 wears so far it's doing pretty well! Much too thin for colder climates, it's perfect for Brisbane winter.

I like how the blue knit matches the blue in the print of the maxi dress! With bare legs and ankle boots, as I wore this out for a big family dinner at my parents and didn't have to be outside much - the high-low hem of the maxi dress kept my bare legs mostly covered and warm. The pink necklace doesn't match the shade of pink in the print exactly but seemed like a nice complimentary colour, and with the colourful dress, blue knit and pink necklace, the grey Rebecca Minkoff Love bag was a nice neutral choice.

Last worn: blue knit, pink tassel necklace, ruffle hem maxi dress, tan ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff Love Bag.

Knit: thrifted Spirit grey marle jumper
Dress: Kmart Tropicana sleeveless tiered maxi dress

BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

Why I wore it:

Again, wearing my Rebecca Minkoff Love bag as a neutral against a bright maxi dress with a knotted jumper, but this time I picked this grey marle knit. It's a tunic length on me, with an uneven hem, so there was a lot of fabric to tie up! I decided to tie it more in the centre, and make it more of a feature than how I tied the first knit off to the side.

Apart from one moment where this knit came unfurled just as we got to church, it stayed in place all day and I quite liked this different way of wearing it. I'm guessing I'll be wearing knits over spaghetti strap maxi dresses like this more next winter too!

Marle Knits Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A pretty spaghetti strip maxi dress can easily be worn in cooler weather with a cosy knit on top! If you're petite or want to add some extra definition to the outfit, you can knot the knit at your waist. Experiment with different knots depending on the jumper - you can create different looks with different knots and knot placement.
