Distressed Denim Skirts, Kimonos and Chloe Ethel Bag | Weekday Wear Link Up

Two more easy outfit formulas - distressed denim skirts, kimonos and tanks with my Chloe Ethel bag for today's Weekday Wear Link Up.

TankJeanswest Maji metallic tank in soft green and silver

BagChloe small Ethel bag in light khaki

Why I wore it:

This was one of those days where I was a little forgetful and paid the price! After a week of rain and storms the clouds cleared and it was finally sunny and perfect timing for getting the kids out to the park. Was doing my usual rushing around that morning making sure everyone had everything and then we went out, not realising that while I'd put sunscreen on my face and the kids were slathered in sunscreen, I'd forgotten to put any on my limbs. Couldn't figure out why I was so thirsty at the park and why my arms and legs were so itchy until I got home and the redness started to show through, oops!

Good reminder of the importance of a kimono in summer though - while my legs were very red, only some of my arms were as this kimono was great physical sunblock! And I appreciated it covering the tops of my arms as it was a little breezy that morning, although it did get less windy through the day.

Although there's no orange in the floral print of this kimono the red is a very orangey-red so I thought the orange statement beaded necklace I recently thrifted would look great with this! I liked the simple metallic silver tank with the gold hardware on the Chloe Ethel bag too. I was worried it might clash a little with the different metals but I think they are far enough apart that it worked. This Ethel is a great size for fitting snacks and water bottles too, it holds more than you would think!

Why I wore it:

Despite loving the outfit above and following a similar outfit formula for this outfit, I feel it doesn't look as good. It was a usual mum life day with school drop off, sports and a playdate for the little one, before more sports for both kids in the evening after school pick up.

I really like pink and blue together so the blue distressed denim skirt and navy printed kimono seemed like great pairing with the pink tank. I'd tried tucking the tank in that morning and decided to leave it untucked, thinking that looked better once I added the kimono on top. Looking at these photos though maybe I should have tucked it in. I felt great in this outfit all day, just one of those cases where I look at the photos afterwards and the camera captured it differently from the mirror, ha!

Because the requirements to wear masks indoors has been lifted and I wasn't going anywhere crowded I took the opportunity to wear some statement earrings that I've been avoiding lately as they don't play nice when we had to frequently wear and remove masks. I thought these circular disk earrings went nicely with the circular necklace. Again wore my Chloe Ethel bag, it was nice with the gold accessories and again it was helpful to hold everything needed with water bottles and snacks.

Last worn: blue printed kimono, disc earrings, circle necklace, pink satin tank, distressed denim skirt, Adidas Superstar, Chloe Ethel in light khaki (above).

Other ways to wearblue printed kimono and shorts, pink satin tank and pencil skirt, distressed denim skirt and cami, Adidas Superstar and dress, Chloe Ethel in light khaki and printed jeans.

Perfect for pregnancypink satin tank and hidden second trimester bump.

How You Can Wear It:

Kimonos look great with denim! Distressed denim skirts and pretty printed kimonos are an easy outfit formula, and with a basic tank you can let the kimono be the statement piece of print and colour in your outfit.

Blue Printed Maxi Skirts, Pink Bags and V-Neck Tees

More simple outfits with a mum staple, a classic v neck tee! Wearing colourful tees and blue printed maxi skirts, with my Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag and Converse.

What I wore:

navy striped maxi skirt with Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony | awayfromblue

Necklace: Kmart silver long circle pendant necklace
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in azalea pink
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony (more affordable preowned!)

Why I wore it:

I had planned to wear this maxi skirt for Monday but I was a little unsure with the rain forecast! Luckily while it did rain this maxi skirt isn't a floor brushing length so it stayed dry. A striped maxi skirt is a staple and in a neutral navy it goes with so much in my wardrobe, I'm going to hit 30 wears on it next year for sure. As I really like blue and pink together I wanted to wear this pink v-neck tee with the navy skirt. Surprisingly it's the first time I've worn the two pieces together despite my love for pink and blue.

While the bright pink of the tee looks great against the navy, so does this little blush Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag. The blush pink works well with both the bright pink and the navy, it's a really versatile shade of pink.

Wore my comfortable Converse for a little bit of running around with the school run, sports for the little one, and then sports for both kids in the evening after school pick up.

Last worn: pink tee, silver circle necklace, navy stripe maxi skirt, white Converse, Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag.

Other ways to wearpink tee and shorts, navy stripe maxi skirt in monochrome outfit, white Converse and printed jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag and shorts.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester.

Review and What's In My Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Darren

What I wore:

blue tie dye skirt with lilac tee and blush Darren bag easy church outfit summer | awayfromblue

blue tie dye skirt, Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony | awayfromtheblue

Necklace: thrifted gold large double circle necklace
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in washed lilac
Skirt: Jeanswest Farrah blue tie dye maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagRebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony (more affordable preowned!)

Why I wore it:

Again with another blue printed maxi skirt and the same blush pink Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag. Like the navy skirt in the first outfit, the blush pink works so well with the lighter blue tie dye print on this maxi skirt. I added another colour to this outfit too with the lilac v-neck tee. Pink, purple and blue are such a lovely trio together!

I wasn't too sure at first about the gold statement circle necklace with the silver hardware on the Darren bag, but I really wanted to wear my new-to-me necklace I picked up at the opshop as soon as possible! It was a nice accessory with the lilac tee and I think the mixed metals worked. Again I went with Converse, blue ones this time to match the light tie dye on the skirt.

Another nice colourful and comfortable outfit, it was a very humid day so I was glad we were able to enjoy the aircon in church that morning!

Last worn: lilac tee, tie dye maxi skirt, blue Converse, Rebecca Minkoff peony small Darren bag (above). First time I've worn the gold necklace as it was a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearlilac tee and culottes, tie dye maxi skirt in monochrome outfit, blue Converse and tee dress, Rebecca Minkoff peony small Darren bag and pink dress.

Perfect for pregnancy: lilac tee in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Pink and blue are lovely together in any shades, as you can see in these two outfits with the different shades of blue. For something a little different you can add in a third colour as well! Lilac works equally well with pink and blue.
