Printed Skinny Jeans, Black Tops and Cardigans

I have a couple of printed jeans. While they are still jeans, they are a little step away from blue denim and make me feel less like I'm stuck in an outfit rut!

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was 'fresh' and I decided to stretch the definition a little. I often wear these leopard print jeans with grey tees so I tried something slightly different and 'fresher' and went with a black tee instead, ha!

I actually really liked the black tee with these pants. I wasn't so pleased with the cardigan though, wish I hadn't worn it. While it was cold in the morning before we went out it was pretty warm the rest of the day and I didn't need it at all.

Why I wore it:

I'm still so undecided with this outfit! It wasn't for a style challenge, I just felt like I wanted to wear these printed jeans again, and thought the black tank was a nice piece to wear with them. As it was a little windy, and we were having someone over in the evening so I'd need something to cover up with as I fed baby boy, I added the cardigan. I tried this marle cardigan to see how it would look with the chevron pants, and really liked the combination.

Then I saw the pics I took and I wasn't so sure. One of those outfits where you feel it's better than the picture. Won't be wearing this cardigan and the printed jeans together again. Although I was happy wearing it I'm just not sure it looks the best reviewing the photo.

Two simple but colourful jeans and tee outfits I wore for spring, with my big cobalt Rebecca Minkoff Love bag, printed jeans, and bright v-neck tees. Easy mum life outfits!

Why I wore it:

This was a busy day! After the school run the little one and I stopped off at the playground for a run around, then it was on to the library. We were about to head home before they said they had a babies books and rhymes session and asked if we and another family wanted to join, and they would make it more of a toddler session. It's something I used to do a lot with the kids when they were younger, so we stayed a little longer for it. I was happy I remembered some of the nursery rhymes to sing along to, ha! I think the little one liked it too, lots of giggles. After that it was home for lunch, a quick appointment then the school pick up and sports in the evening.

I loved the blue, purple and pink in this outfit. I don't wear these leopard print jeans as much as I used to but they do tend to make an appearance or two every spring, they are really fun! I was so sure I'd worn this purple tee with them before but was surprised to look through my blog archives and see that I hadn't. Pink, blue and purple is a trio I love so the cobalt Rebecca Minkoff jumbo love bag was a great accessory with the colourful outfit.

Why I wore it:

Another bright outfit! I feel this orange tee always photographs a bit more neon than it really is - it doesn't seem as in-your-face in person! It was the perfect tee to wear to go along to another sports event at school and surprise my son. With the printed jeans and orange tee he had no trouble spotting me on the sidelines! I picked the jumbo Love bag to wear again as I needed a bag to fit both my essentials and my camera to take pics of him having fun on the day.

The one thing I did change about this outfit was adding a cardigan. It was a little breezy when I went out to take pics and hadn't settled down when I left so I grabbed a cardigan before I went out the door, and so didn't add sunscreen to my arms. Quickly realised that standing in the shade free sidelines a cardigan wasn't needed though, and sadly paid the price with some sunburnt arms! That explains the slight pinkness in the outfit above, which I wore the day after.

I had time for a quick little shop to pick up some Christmas presents and lunch before picking up my little one early and taking him to a special doctor's appointment. He'd been on the waitlist for a while and the appointment kept getting rescheduled with lockdowns and unavailable doctors and things so when they had a cancellation I took it! Such good timing for us as I'd taken the day off to watch my son compete and wouldn't have been able to take it otherwise.

This is a little more dressed up than I'd normally get for working from home and doing daycare drop off / pick up, but we had an evening out planned to have dinner with a friend so I put a little more effort in.

I was trying on a few different jackets in the morning, trying to find a nice one that would work with this, when i saw this little lightweight one. I'm pleased it's getting warmer in Brisbane so I can start wearing things like this again. I've really been looking forward to spring!

Why I wore it:

I was in such a rush on this morning, and already late, so you get a quick pic with my little fluffy and not so fluffy children photobombing! It's impossible to keep toddler T still, but most of the time he likes to run around behind the tripod. I usually manage to grab a photo without him in the frame for the blog, but didn't have time to take a few shots this time.

As this peplum tank is sleeveless, I added the cardigan to keep me warm, but ended up taking it off later in the day as it was a gloriously warm spring day.

Printed Jeans, Silver Flats and Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere

I have a large collection of jeans, but just like every other category of clothing in my wardrobe, I tend to have a few favourites I rotate between. When I realised I'd been wearing the printed jeans I bought in June quite a lot I thought I'd show some love to my other pair of printed jeans, my pink leopard print ones. Wore them both with gray cardigans, neutral tops and my Louis Vuitton Speedy bandouliere bag as it makes an easy outfit.

Although it was just a lazy Sunday with the boys, took the chance to wear these jeans again as they are long overdue a wear. It's been 10 months since I last wore them. I really like pink and grey together and a simple grey tee seems the perfect pairing with such a busy print. Even though I frequently wear grey tees with these jeans, I enjoy wearing them so much I'm not too concerned if they don't get worn with everything in my wardrobe.

Cosy cardi and printed jeans combination again! I caught up with some of the ladies from my mother's group I joined when toddler T was a baby. Printed jeans seemed like a good choice for something a little different from the usual blue denim, and the neutral navy breastfeeding tank goes with everything.

Lazy SAHM Dressing: Printed Pants ~ Same Outfit, Different Prints

Two extremely similar outfits. I felt I hadn't worn my printed jeans in a while, they were overdue a wear. Unlike some of the other posts I've shared with similar outfit formulas, I wore these one day after the other, and I didn't even notice that I'd pretty much worn the same thing until I went to upload the pictures!

So a very unimaginative set of outfits - printed jeans with a jumper and the same jacket, scarf and boots! At least the bags were different I guess? Some days you just want to go with an easy option, and accessories that work with anything you wear are a good choice.

Why I wore it:

I liked the colours in this outfit, but it was a pain to wear in practice. Definitely an outfit fail. Luckily I didn't have to wear it long - a checkup for baby and then stopping by the shops on the way home to pickup lunch.

These jeans are one of the pairs I bought off ebay post-baby to celebrate fitting back into 'regular' jeans again. They are a little larger than I need right now so they were annoying. Plus while the zipper detail on the hems is awesome to look at, it's not so great when it's rubbing against the top of my ankle boots. It's turned me off these jeans so much they are leaving my wardrobe! They would always need to be belted if I kept them anyway, not too much of a loss.

Unlike the (extremely similar) outfit above, I much preferred these jeans with the ankle boots. I think cuffing them looks better and it definitely feels better to wear. Did result in some cold ankles early in the morning though!

Just a simple outfit for a morning out with DH and baby T running errands and getting lunch. I did wonder if the leopard print and the ombre would be too much together at first, but I'm glad I tried it anyway as I think it looks good.

Statement Jeans, Prints, Yellow Teething Necklace

While I am trying to move away from a blue denim rut and embrace some other kinds of clothes in my wardrobe, there's no denying that I love jeans as an easy go-to outfit option. I do try step away from the blue by buying and wearing other kinds of jeans as I wear them a lot being a stay at home mum. As well as colourful jeans, I'm happy to have a few statement jeans in my wardrobe.

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was 'gratitude' and while I'm grateful for a lot of things, I decided to celebrate the fact that the slightly cooler spring days gave me another change to wear this long sleeved top. While the wrap design happily means it's perfect for breastfeeding, the longer sleeves mean I probably won't get to wear this much more this year as spring draws to a close.

I like blue and pink together almost as much as I like blue and purple so the pink leopard print jeans were a good choice. I've worn them with a blue top before too and I liked the combination just as much then as I do now.

Added the bright teething necklace at the end to help keep baby boy occupied. Spent some time with my mother in law in the afternoon.

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was 'because I can' which gave me the perfect excuse to wear these statement metallic skinny jeans on a quiet weekend. While these jeans don't look as bright in the photos as the leopard print ones above, I feel these jeans are really statement making when I wear them. I often have to think a few times before coming up with what to wear with them. I still have a lot of fun wearing them though so they are definitely staying in my wardrobe. Plus I think the likelyhood of finding another pair of metallic jeans to replace them if I change my mind later is pretty low!

Stripes are a great go-to when you're not sure what to wear too, they go with everything! I picked the brown Balenciaga day bag as it's a great neutral and I felt like I hadn't worn it in a while.

It was a long day, and dark and rainy when I went to take photos, so another indoor shot. Yes, what I wore to the office on the weekend :( We had to come into the office to get more work done on a project. It felt very wrong going into work on a Saturday! Wore these pink jeans and pink accessories to add some cheerfulness to my look. I've always thought the pink leopard print was too loud for the office, but on a day without a dress code they were perfect. The thongs weren't an issue either - there were a few people running around barefoot for maximum comfort!

Bought these awesome purple skinnies when I went late night shopping after work with my mum and sister. I'd seen them in store and online a few times, but wasn't sure if I could justify another pair of jeans. When we saw them in store this week, they were only $30 so I finally caved and bought them. Such a nice purple, I'm so glad I got them! Dressed up a little with heels as I knew I wouldn't have to do much walking today.

Colourful Winter Dressing: Printed Jeans with Pink and Cobalt

I love blue and pink together, so I like to wear it year-round. While I do tend to wear more neutrals in winter (it makes layering easy as everything goes), it's nice to add a little bit of colour or a fun print to your outfit sometimes. The cobalt leather jacket I'm wearing in the outfits below is both cosy and colourful, and paired with pink it makes for a cheerful winter outfit.

A neutral bag is an essential in both outfits while I have so much else going on with the prints and colour.

Why I wore it:

Had a busy but kid-free few hours when I wore this. The beading on this ombre tank is beautiful but I worry about how it will hold up with tiny little grabby hands so it's been a while since it was last worn! I was pregnant with Baby Boy when I last wore it. 😲 Definitely a piece that feels more special and doesn't get worn for everyday stay at home mum duties.

When I was thinking of what to wear and putting this outfit together I worried it maybe had a little too much going on, with the beaded ombre tank, bright cobalt jacket and printed jeans. But I loved this final outfit. The neutral Balenciaga bag was a good choice so it didn't compete with all the print and colour. I was happy and comfortable all day, despite running late to almost every appointment, oops.

This was what I wore for the instagram style challenge prompt of 'shop your wardrobe'. Which applies to every outfit I've worn since my last purchase in December! I didn't plan anything special to meet the style challenge prompt for the day, I just wanted to wear this tank and the leopard print jeans together as I thought it would be a nice combination.

Again I went with a neutral bag, the metallic mini MAC, as my outfit felt quite busy already with the colours and print together. I felt completely different in this outfit compared to the one above though. I'd been so sure about this as I planned it out in my head, only to put it on in the morning and felt it was missing something. I added the necklace but I'm still not sure that was what the outfit needed - maybe a scarf instead.

As we were running late for books and rhymes at the library I just wore it anyway. Not one of the worst outfits I've worn, as I didn't completely hate it, just another of those cases where the outfit doesn't look as good as you think it will in your head! I did really like the cobalt jacket and leopard print jeans together at least - I'll have to try that again soon.

Perfect for pregnancy: leopard print jeans in early second trimester, Converse and maternity shorts, mini MAC worn as a clutch in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

While neutral layers are practical and make winter layering easy, you can have some fun with your outfit by adding more colour, as statement print, or both! If you're experimenting with colour and prints in your outfit, you might want to pick a classic neutral handbag that won't compete for attention.

Summer tanks can be a fun addition to your winter wardrobe, and with the right layers can be worn year round. While I'm wearing a colourful leather jacket above, a bright cardigan or scarf would work just as well to add more colour. Printed jeans can also be worn year-round to add another element of interest to your outfits.
