What I wore:
Jacket: Asos Black by Markus Lupfer printed leather jacket
Scarf: Alexander McQueen red skull-print modal and cashmere-blend scarf
Top: Jeanswest 'Tilda' black shirt
Jeans: Sass & Bide Playman skinny jeans (new purchase)
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots (on sale!)
Bag: Mulberry regular Alexa bag in foggy grey
Why I wore it:
While these are a bit of a statement jean, their first outing was actually a pretty boring errand running day! I was eager to wear them soon after they arrived though. Even though the Mulberry Alexa is a purpley-grey I went with the red scarf although they don't match as I thought it added a nice bit of colour to all of the black.I tucked the jeans into the boots but it wasn't a great idea, as there are zipper details on the back it wasn't the most comfortable way to wear them.
Last worn: leather jacket, Alexander McQueen skull scarf, black top, ankle boots, Mulberry Alexa. First time I've worn the jeans as they are a recent purchase.
Other ways to wear: leather jacket and a shift dress, skull scarf and plaid, black top and a baby bump, ankle boots in spring, Mulberry Alexa and a maxi skirt.
More printed jeans under $100:
What I wore:
Scarf: Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf in Island pine-print
Top: Dorothy Perkins 3/4 sleeve wrap top
Jeans: Sass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats (on sale!)
Bag: Mulberry regular Alexa bag in foggy grey
Why I wore it:
Layered up or a really chilly day! None of my scarves seemed to look quite right next to the chevron print on these jeans but with the low neckline on this top I wanted something around my neck. Decided to wrap this one around my neck a few times to keep it away from the print and stop them 'competing' with each other. It would have been better if I'd spent a little extra time tying the scarf into a proper snood style so it stayed in place, as it kept unravelling and driving me crazy.I regretted all the warm layers when we got to the library. We went for the baby and toddler session and they'd heated up the room for the tiny babies. I was pulling everything off and wishing I'd gone with my short sleeved wrap top instead!
As it's the second time I've worn these jeans, my purchase review:
They are proving trickier to style than I imagined and don't work well with ankle boots, but I really do like the print on these and I enjoy wearing them. Printed jeans aren't as easy to throw on as blue jeans, but it's good to change things up a little and I don't mind thinking a little more about what to wear with these. I have a few more outfits in mind for them, they are definitely sticking around. Jeans aren't something I have a shortage of but I've been looking for more printed pants lately so I'm pleased with these.
Last worn: grey longline cardigan, Marc Jacobs printed scarf, blue wrap top, printed skinny jeans (above), silver ballet flats, Mulberry Alexa (above).
Other ways to wear: grey longline cardigan and flares, Marc Jacobs printed scarf in the office, blue wrap top and a maxi skirt, silver ballet flats and a tartan pencil skirt, Mulberry Alexa and denim shorts.

These are some jazzy jeans! Agreed, ankle zips can be tricky with boots. But I submit that the month begins on purchase (or delivery) of item in question, not calendar month!
ReplyDeleteyes I usually say the "wear in a month" rule applies 4 weeks after I buy something, not the calendar month...but now I'm doing the monthly wrap up posts I'm trying to do calendar month. Makes me reconsider end of the month purchases harder too, do I really need it now or can I wait until next month? And if I wait, do I really need it in the first place? It's an interesting experiment!
DeleteSuch a pretty bag!

I love adding a pop of color to monochromatic outfits or outfits that are too dark so I think the red scarf added life to your outfit. I love it! :)

I like the print, these jeans do have a pretty grungy feel, which I like for autumn and winter.

That is such a cool jeans! Loveee the print
ReplyDeleteAnd that is a great rule! Two wears of things you buy in a month.
I should start doing that too :)
Love that pop of red as well

It has really improved my shopping I think!
DeleteI love your bag Alexa Mulberry, this has been in my bag bucket list for quite some time now :)
ReplyDeletewww.busyandfab.com
It's a great bag, snap it up while you can now that it's been discontinued!
DeleteOn the first photo, you look like a total biker girl and you rock it ;) I don't really wear printed jeans, I can't seem to get them paired with anything so I stick to my regular jeans :)
ReplyDeleteEla BellaWorld
They are trickier to wear for sure! But I'm enjoying them :)
DeleteThese jeans look perfect on you. Love your scarves too, so pretty. Have a lovely day.

I could see these being a bit tricky, but let's face it, you're a total pro! (; I think they really work to your advantage in the winter because they add a little something to all the layers of fabric! haha I need to be less safe with my "bottom half wear." I used to have so many colored jeans and sort of got out of it. Now, I am on the hunt to add more back into my wardrobe! (:
ReplyDeletehaha thank you! Yes, it's nice to have something a little different from the blue denim now and then :)
DeleteLove the top outfit you look so cool and edgy!

I do love the print on those jeans but I'm sure they are a little harder to style than regular denim. I love that first look though--you've got a rocker vibe going on, I love it!
ReplyDeleteThey do add a bit more 'toughness' to an outfit! They are a little trickier but I'm enjoying the challenge :)
DeleteThose are some statement jeans Mica! I love Sass & Bide! They make really nice clothes.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.averysweetblog.com/
They do! I haven't bought anything from them in a while but they do have some nice things :)
DeleteI like your ambitious goal of wearing everything new twice the first month! I might have to try that. And the printed jeans are so fun - bold, but still kind of a neutral.

Let me know if you do! it's a fun rule to try, really makes you think when you buy :)
DeleteReally loving that red AM scarf!

Those jeans are so lovely and unique, I love them and how you've styled them in both looks! I actually think the red scarf looks great paired with the bag, since it looks like a darker grey! I also love the edgier vibes the whole look has. The second one is so lovely, too. Don't you hate that, when you layer because it's supposed to be so cool, but then you walk into a place and have to strip down because they crank up the heat?! haha! You look fab, beauty! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!

haha yes the perils of layering in winter - sometimes you need to be ready to shed them all!
DeleteI have yet to wear the new garments right a way but I love that this rule works for you. I guess it works because you stick to it :)
ReplyDeleteI am not too sold on the jeans, I'd think they are really difficult to wear.
Yes the only time I haven't been able to stick to it over the years is when I've been pregnant and the bump has outgrown things too quickly! Otherwise it's been working really well for me :)
DeleteI absolutely love that red scarf! And those jeans are definitely very cool and unique <3
ReplyDeleteStacey + thebambieyes.com
I'm always a little nervous around printed jeans specifically because I'm not sure how to style them, but I think you've done really well with these. I especially like the second outfit, although the first one reminds me of a punk vibe what with the leather jacket!
ReplyDeleteSam | http://mybeautycloud.com
Yes they seemed a little tricky when I got them home...but have lots of ideas now! :)
DeleteI really love both scarves! I can see why wearing other prints with those chevron pants can be hard to pair, but I think you did well!!

Loving how you styled those printed pants in both looks. Love the pop of red in the first outfit and the stunning blue bag in your second.

Those are some funky jeans, Mica! I love that you accented with red AND purple! Wonderful colour!
ReplyDeleteOooo, you look great in that statement jeans, Mica! That said, I prefer the first outfit, it's grundgy, edgy and love that you paired it with a leather jacket.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
I love how you said you wore them close together to get those two wears out of them before the month ends! Haha They looks awesome on you. I should check out Sass & Bide on eBay because I have to stop myself from going anywhere near them whenever I go to Myer haha
ReplyDeleteTFM BLOG
Yes you can find some great bargains on ebay from their old collection, like these! :) I was proud I managed to squeeze that extra wear in near the end of the month!
DeleteOh those pants are gorgeous and sassy! I love both ways you wore them! The print is fantastic!

Hello, Mica! <3
ReplyDeleteAt first, I thought it was a pair of leggings! Anyhow, I love wearing printed bottoms and pair it with a plain top. Or sometimes I can be a little experimental too, and match it with a different printed top! Lol. Nonetheless, I love how you styled these looks! Hope to hear from you soon :)

haha no I wouldn't wear leggings like this! :)
DeleteThose are definitely statement jeans and it's nice how you were able to style them in such different looks. Surprising that they didn't work so well with ankle boots.
ReplyDeleteYes I think without the zippers at the back they would have been fine! :)
DeleteOooh! I love patterned pants! These look great on you!

I am a huge fan of printed pants because they look so much more put together and purposeful than jeans. They do take more thought when putting your outfit together though I think the outcome is worth it! I can't wait to see how else you wear these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura! I think you're right too, they look different from the standard blue denim for sure.
