30 Ways To Wear A Red Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Micro Avery Tote Bag #30wears

Another red bag for this months 30 ways to wear series! Previously in this series I've featured a bigger red Balenciaga bag, and a little red saddle bag.

Each month since January 2017, I pick something I've worn 30 times or more and put this post together sharing the ways I've worn it to give you some ideas or inspiration for how to rewear a similar piece in your own wardrobe. Inspired by the 30 wears challenge I heard about in The True Cost documentary.

30 Ways To Wear: Rebecca Minkoff Red Micro Avery Tote Bag

I tried to think of some different ways to categorise these outfits, as I have shared other red bags before in the 30 Wears series. Despite having more bags in other colours, the red bags seem to be ones I reach for over and over and they are staples in my collection! I'm surprised I haven't done a 30 wears post yet with one of my many pink bags - need to add that to my to-do list!

Cost Per Wear

This Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery tote bag was a lucky eBay find back in August 2018. I had an eBay voucher, the seller hadn't listed a lot of details, and in the end I paid just $17 for it. One of my best eBay scores, I've certainly got a lot of value from that $17! At 33 wears it's down to 52 cents a wear. A really good cost per wear figure for a designer bag, even if it is just a contemporary designer and a discontinued style, I love it.

Blue Dress

4 ways to wear a red bag with blue dresses | awayfromtheblue

I love red and blue together so of course I've worn this little red bag with a lot of blue! From navy to teal, the red really pops, especially against a printed blue dress.

Pencil Skirt

Despite the mini size, this bag fits quite a lot! It can fit my essentials (keys, wallet phone) and still has space for my camera, so it's a good size to take to work if I don't have to carry any notes around. It means I've frequently worn it with pencil skirts, I think the mini size looks great worn this way.

Graphic Tee

5 ways to wear graphic tees with red micro avery bag | awayfromblue

I like to wear this bag casually too. I love a good tee, and this micro Avery bag works well with a graphic tee - from being the only pop of red in my outfit like in the middle with the blue and white graphic tee, or in the other outfits where I've matched the red bag to the red in the print of the tee. As you can see from the Santa tees, this bag gets worn a lot around Christmas time too.

Matching  Accessories

Matching bags and scarves is something I do often but I wanted to include that pic with the red and green beaded necklace there to show you you can match this cute little red bag to any red neck piece - a necklace or a scarf! Wearing this bag with a red scarf is definitely my favourite though!

Matching  Print

More matchy-matchy, this time matching in some subtle ways, wearing red printed pieces with this little red micro Avery bag. From something as bold as a red striped tank to a more subtle red stripe on a rainbow knit, the red bag is a great accessory to wear.

Matching Clothes

I think this is the ultimate amount of matching! One statement red piece in your outfit looks great, like a skirt, tee or jeans, but you can go all-out and pair those red pieces with a similar bag too! When I do this, as you can see above, I tend to stick with neutral pieces in the rest of my outfit, or go with shades of blue that always look good with a lot of red.

Pop of Colour

wearing a red bag as a pop of colour with your outfit | away from blue

The final way you can wear a little red bag like this is not matching at all, it's using the red bag as the pop of colour in your outfit. I love the bold bright red against a neutral black outfit, but as you can see in the second pic there it doesn't have to be blacks and greys - it works so well with the mustard dress!

Soft Pull On Shorts and Printed Kimonos With Rebecca Minkoff Bags

Again with two very similar outfit formulas, but different colour schemes! On hot and humid summer days these soft pull on shorts are the best, I'm surprised they haven't been worn as much this summer! It was nice wearing them on these wet but still hot days.

I just wish I could have worn different shoes, but these are the only shoes that make walking and driving bearable with my injured knee!

What I wore:

Tank: MEV Britney bubble tank in mood indigo C/O
ShortsJeanswest Tessa olive embroidered shorts
ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff Regan Satchel Tote in moon

Why I wore it:

I recently wore those olive embroidered shorts with a navy tee, blue tie dye kimono and mustard yellow bag. I liked the colour combination so much I wanted to wear it again. I changed it up a little this time though, having the navy Rebecca Minkoff Regan satchel bag instead of the mustard one, and having the yellow kimono instead of a yellow bag. I wore this navy tank instead of the navy tee too, but wore the same turquoise tassel necklace.

Just as I did last time I wore these colours together, I really liked this outfit! It was a hot and humid day but thankfully the rain held off for the school drop off and pick up, and we were able to do all our errands at the closest shopping centre to enjoy the aircon and keep dry!

Last worn: yellow kimono, navy breastfeeding tank, turquoise tassel necklace, olive embroidered shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff Regan satchel.

Why I wore it:

Another oh-so-comfortable and light pair of pull on shorts. These ones are black with a little white square print on them so I thought they would look great with the green duster kimono, with the white in the flower print. I really liked this combination.

Not as colourful as the outfit above, I stuck with a monochrome black outfit with the black tank and printed shorts, and a neutral grey Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag. I thought that the green floral duster was enough extra interest with the outfit, especially with the print mixing with the shorts.

Again with these New balance shoes which are pretty much a staple here now. Any time I have tried to walk too far without them my injured knee has been in so much pain!

Last worn: green floral duster, pearl tassel necklace, black blouson tank, black printed pull on shorts, New Balance (above), Rebecca Minkoff MAM satchel.

How You Can Wear It:

On a hot and humid day a pair of neutral pull on soft shorts like these olive and black pairs are perfect - no fussing with zips or buttons and incredibly comfortable all day. To mix it up a little you can add a kimono on top for a touch of colour or print mixing.

Blue & Teal Outfits: Floral Dresses and Weekday Wear Link Up

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up I'm wearing two blue floral dresses for the office and accessorising them with blue bags for a simple navy and teal outfit, that looks different each time.

What I wore:

Earrings: Prouds gold and silver spiral drop earrings
Necklace: Lovisa mixed texture beaded necklace
DressShein navy flower print flowy dress (c/o)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs metallic mouse flats
BagBalenciaga first bag in 2006 Blue India

Why I wore it:

Wore this for my last official day in my old team before moving onto a new role! I'm so excited to start the new year off with a new job, even if I am just on the other side of the building from my old team.

Despite the rain it was quite a warm day so this simple navy swing dress was perfect for the office and the commute. I kept the accessories simple with the gold spiral drop earrings, beaded necklace and gold mouse flats. I love a bit of matchy matchy! Thought that this teal-ish turquoise-y Balenciaga first bag would be a nice touch with the navy dress, I really liked this combination and I like that this bag seems a slightly different shade in different lights sometimes! it's hard to tell if it's more turquoise or teal!

Last worn: gold earrings, navy swing dress, beaded necklace, gold mouse flats, Balenciaga blue India first bag.

Balenciaga Bags Vs Rebecca Minkoff Bags:

What I wore:

JacketJeanswest grey jersey blazer
Necklace: Tiffany & Co silver 5th Avenue notes heart pendant necklace
Dress: Kmart teal floral print midi dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagRebecca Minkoff Regan Satchel Tote in moon

Why I wore it:

The same outfit formula as the one above, just a little changed around and an extra layer added. This time it's a teal floral dress and a navy bag. I've worn a different Rebecca Minkoff navy bag with this teal floral midi dress before, I like the colour combo. I thought this Rebecca Minkoff Regan satchel went so nicely with the dress, and with the grey blazer it made it a little more formal for the office.

I'd planned to wear this outfit the week before but the wild weather changed my mind. While it was still raining on this day, it wasn't as bad (and I could actually take blog photos on the patio without the rain blowing in). The blazer wasn't needed for warmth as it was still quite humid even with all the rain.

Last worn: grey blazer, Tiffany heart necklace, teal floral midi dress, silver ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Regan tote.

Blue Floral Dresses Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A floral dress is a fun and easy outfit for the office. It looks great worn on its own or you can make it a little more formal with a blazer on top too. Picking a handbag in a different shade of blue is a great way to accessorise too.
