What I wore:
Tee: thrifted Kmart short sleeve cotton modal tee in black
Skirt: thrifted ruffle hem leopard print midi skirt
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: thrifted Stella McCartney Falabella fold-over tote in midnight black
Why I wore it:
So many new purchases in one outfit! While I focus on pieces that work with other items in my wardrobe when I'm shopping, it's always a thril when I thrift pieces that work together to create a full outfit all on their own! This leopard printmidi skirt was a must as soon as I saw it on the rack - I love the tassels and it's such a great length for me, almost a maxi. As it was a quiet day at my desk it was easily dressed down with the black tee and my Converse sneakers. The Stella McCartney Falabella worked so well in this outfit too, it's a great bag for work! The necklace is not new but instead a reincarnation of an older one I had. When I thrifted it, it was a beautiful string of faux pearl beads all knotted together on faux suede and the thread just kept splitting and breaking until eventually I couldn't repair it any more. My friend designs and makes jewellery so she helped me get some supplies (just a simple cord this time) to recreate it with the beads I had, and I just copied it as closely as I could to the original necklace. I think I did well even if it's taken me months to getting around to remaking this!
Last worn: black tee, beaded necklace, Converse, Stella McCartney Falabella bag. First time I've worn the leopard print skirt as is is a recent thrift find.

Other ways to wear: black tee and shorts, Converse and jeans, Stella McCartney Falabella bag with green.
Perfect for pregnancy: Converse in second trimester..
What I wore:
Tee: thrifted black scoop neck H&M tee
Skirt: Garfunkle Australia pleated print skirt
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: thrifted Stella McCartney Falabella fold-over tote in midnight black
Why I wore it:
This outfit was disappointing. I copied the outfit formula for the one above almost exactly, with a different black thrifted tee, the Converse and the Stella McCartney Falabella bag again. I even added another statement necklace, this cheerful yellow tassel one. This yellow and white and black printed pleated skirt used to be an office staple for me, but I just really wasn't enjoying it on this day. It was a bit breezy and the a-line shape kept getting caught in the breeze in the worst ways and had me worrying about and holding the hem quite a bit. It's a shame as I really loved this skirt in the past, but it is in the donate bag now. Even though I haven't hit 30 wears with it I'm just really not enjoying wearing it any more, and it's better to go to a new home with someone who will love it.Last worn: black H&M tee, yellow tassel necklace, pleated printed skirt, Converse (above), Stella McCartney Falabella bag (above).
Other ways to wear: black H&M tee and shorts, pleated printed skirt and blazer, Converse and dress, Stella McCartney Falabella bag and denim.
Perfect for pregnancy: pleated printed skirt and hidden baby bump, Converse in second trimester..

Love both outfits, though can understand why a wind would be annoying with the yellow/black skirt. Have a great week
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with this bag. It looks amazing with both of these printed skirts. Thanks for the link up Mica!

I just love your skirts and the shirts with them make a cool casual style. I hope you’re having a great week so far. Thank you for sharing your great style. https://www.bauchlefashion.com
ReplyDeleteToo bad the second skirt is working well for you when you wear it because it is really cute! But that's how it goes sometimes, and I agree that it's better to pass it on so someone else can wear it.
ReplyDeleteThat leopard print skirt is incredible! I love that you were able to find other pieces that really made it shine! What a gorgeous look. I really like the second look as well, but if you aren't loving an item anymore, it makes sense to give it a new home where it will be used!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
2 very cute outfits! I am wearing my leopard maxi skirt today. Joining Gail with her 7 days of skirts: it is a great opportunity for me to wear skirts in cooler weather.

Although I love the second skirt's print, I can somehow see why this outfit was somewhat disappointing. The first one is a triumph though, it's fabulous in every way! xxx
ReplyDeleteNice job on the necklace recreation! You chose two easy outfits perfect for a casual office and the bag looks great with both of them. I like the cheerful black, white and yellow skirt-I know in will find a good new home. Thanks for the link up and enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit combination; clear and logical explanation for the reason of your wearing it.
ReplyDeleteI love an a-line skirt EXCEPT when it's windy, LOL.
ReplyDeleteBut both skirts are so fabulous.

Isn't it funny how we can copy a style and not love it at all? I wonder if it's because the first skirt was a longer one? But, if you no longer love the other, it's a good idea to donate it. That bag, though, is fabulous! All those zippers (I think)! Have a wonderful week, Mica!

I love the edginess of that bag with both of these outfits. You did a great job remaking that necklace. It's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've been having similar issues with full/a-line skirts lately too! I love the first outfit, but the proportions are off a bit in the 2nd, with the fullness of the skirt. That leopard midi is wonderful on you! Thanks so much for the link-party, Mica!
ReplyDeleteLove the leopard skirt. Sorry to hear the other skirt didn't work for you.

I really like both looks, but as I always say, leopard print is my favorite color! Lol. Have a great week!
