Tiered Midi Dresses With Denim Jackets And Scarves | Weekday Wear Link Up

Two incredibly similar outfits for today's Weekday Wear Link Up, both worn in the last weeks of the school term back in June, before the winter holidays. It had been a tough few weeks at the end of term and I wanted to be warm, comfortable, and try to use some colour to boost my mood a bit. These tiered Kmart midi dresses are perfect for that, they are so bright and cheerful and layer well with scarves and denim jackets.

What I wore:

Kmart short sleeve tiered jersey dress in Fuchsia with converse denim jacket black rebecca minkoff tote leopard print scarf | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware with denim jacket pink dress | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Jeanswest Kitty denim biker jacket
Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl navy and pink cheetah print scarf
Dress: Kmart short sleeve tiered jersey dress in Fuchsia
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

Another sneaky weekend outfit making it into the Weekday Wear Link Up! I've shared before that my son has taken an interest in bugs (particularly mantises) recently, and there was a "Bug Day Out" event up on the Sunshine Coast that I knew he would love. It was a bit of a drive and it had been a long week, but I was excited for him to spend some time there so we had a mini road trip. Wore my Converse and my knee brace fit perfectly under this tiered midi dress, for all the driving. Took quite a while to get there due to traffic, but was so worth it. We had a great time talking to all the entomologists, having lunch, a little bit of bug-related shopping, and we even had the chance to adopt a little stick insect on the day which the boys were very excited about!

I didn't need my denim jacket in the car but appreciated having it in the afternoon when it got a bit chilly - the scarf alone wasn't enough with the dress. I really like the leopard print scarf with the fuchsia pink of the dress, even though the pink in the scarf is more of a magenta shade I thought they worked well together.

We had a big reusable Woolies tote in the car with snacks and books for the long ride (over 2 hours of driving!) but this black tote bag was perfect for our water bottles and purchases when we got to the event. Such a nice day out, and I'm pleased I layered up so I could adjust the layers through the day.

Last worn: moto denim jacket, leopard print scarf, Kmart fuchsia tiered midi dress, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote.

Other ways to wearmoto denim jacket and striped dress, leopard print scarf and purple cardigan, Kmart fuchsia tiered midi dress and gold clutch, Converse and blazer, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote and shorts.

Perfect for pregnancyConverse in second trimester.

Rebecca Minkoff Unlined Tote Review:

What I wore:

Kmart short sleeve tiered jersey midi dress in amber with scarf denim jacket tote bag and adidas superstar sneakers | awayfromblue

on the shoulder Rebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware | awayfromtheblue

Jacket: Bubblegum denim jacket
Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl navy diamond print scarf
Dress: Kmart short sleeve tiered jersey midi dress in amber
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

This was a fake it till you make it outfit! I needed a big bold burst of colour for two reasons: I wasn't feeling the best (not Covid) and my sons had their sports day at school so I had to be bright and noticeable from the side lines. Like the first outfit, I went with the tiered midi dress, printed scarf and denim jacket combo. Standing on the side lines at the sports day though I ended up taking the denim jacket off - it was such a warm and sunny day sitting there on the oval!

Again like the outfit above, the print in the scarf doesn't match the colour in the dress, but I thought the multi coloured diamond print was nice with the dark denim jacket, and the navy looks so good with the orange. Again comfortable sneakers, more for standing around, as I didn't have to do a lot of driving. Thankfully my friend brought a rug for us to sit down on as well, it was nice getting out and sitting relaxing in the sun cheering on the kids even though I wasn't feeling great.

Wore the Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote bag again - it fit my water bottle and my camera as well as all my essentials for the day nicely.

Last worn: denim jacket, amber tiered midi dress, Adidas Superstar, Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote (above). First time I've worn the diamond scarf as it was a Christmas gift.

How You Can Wear It:

Midi dresses can work in winter too, with a pair of comfy sneakers, a big cosy scarf and a denim jacket.

  21. When you have a winning formula, you repeat it! I love both of these outfits - they are both total Jammy Dresses! Your scarf game is fantastic - and you're using one of the great fashion maxims: "it doesn't have to match, it just has to GO." Well done!

FYI, I finished the Autumn Jacket yesterday (I'll have a slew of pics up in the next couple of days), so that means your purse is up next!! So exciting!

Thanks so much for the link-party, Mica!

I love that you are always showing us colors and ways to add joy to our outfits. Same as you I think that color can boost our mood in many ways and that's why I love to wear more colors than the usual black/white/beige.

I think both looks are perfect, but I'd say my favorite is the first one due to the way you matched the skirt with the scarf ;)

    Take care!
