Maxi Dresses and Kimonos With Purple Mini MAB Bag

Kimonos work just as well with maxi dresses as they do with denim. While kimonos and shorts was a summer staple for me, with the cooler weather the extra coverage a maxi dress gives makes it a better option for autumn. Especially when you add a pair of ankle boots too. For a little extra colour, I wore both of these maxi dress outfits with my purple Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote bag.

Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots

Why I wore it:

The Kindness Collective had a sale on kimonos a couple of weeks before Mother's Day, so the boys picked me out one each. My eldest picked this one, and I love the classic black and white with the floral print. I decided to keep things simple when I wore this to playgroup, with a black maxi dress and purple accessories for just a little bit of colour. Since it was a little chilly, I added the black ankle boots. It is the perfect way to make your maxi dresses work in spring or autumn.

I really liked this outfit - a simple combination with a fun pop of colour through accessories is a formula I default to easily. Even if the black maxi dress was quickly dirtied by toddler hands, haha!

Why I wore it:

This is what I wore on Mother's Day. I was spoiled with breakfast in bed and my boys made some cute gifts, as well as picking out the kimonos. I wanted to give this one a try right away to challenge myself as it seemed like the harder one to wear with the mix of colours in the zig zag print.

With purple being the dominant colour in the print, I decided to once again pull out the purple accessories. This plum Nibbly Bits teething necklace goes so nicely with the purple mini MAB tote bag.

Perfect outfit for spending some time at home relaxing and then heading down the coast to celebrate Mother's Day with my mum and family. Was comfortable all day.

Kimonos Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

You don't have to pack your kimonos away when the weather starts to cool! Swap out the summer shorts for something with a little more coverage like a maxi dress or jeans and you can continue to wear your colourful kimonos at the start of autumn or end of spring. A kimono is such a perfect topper with a maxi dress for an easy boho outfit too.

Two Ways To Wear Jeanswest Waterfall Drape Cardigan in Navy

I bought some new cardigans recently to celebrate the cooler weather in Brisbane! You might have seen in Monday's office wear post how to wear them in the office, but today I'm picking the navy one and showing you two different ways to wear it.

This is the new season Jeanswest waterfall drape cardigan, which has two buttons on the top and button holes in the hem. It means you can button up one side as an impromptu breastfeeding cover, or you can button up both hems and wear it like a cowl neck knit.

While it's winter now, it was still a mild autumn when I wore this cardigan for the first time, so I'm wearing it with shorts in both outfits.

What I wore:

Tank: thrifted Cotton On yellow tank
ShortsJeanswest 'Scarlette' printed shorts
ShoesAsos leather Chelsea boots in tan
BagBalenciaga truffle brown RH classic day bag

Why I wore it:

I was so eager to squeeze in another wear of these shorts, in my effort to hit 30 wears on them before the summer weather really ended. With the ankle boots and long cardigan, they were just warm enough for the last of our summer heat before autumn truly set in. The blue shorts were an obvious choice to wear with the navy cardigan as I love wearing these shorts with navy pieces to create monochrome outfits.

The mustard cardigan is something I've worn frequently with these shorts too, I really like yellow and blue together. A nice cheerful and colourful outfit, yet still practical for working from home and doing the daycare drop off / pick up.

Last worn: navy waterfall cardigan, mustard yellow tank, blue printed soft shorts, Chelsea leather ankle boots, Balenciaga truffle brown day bag.

Review and Contents: Balenciaga Day Bag In Magenta

Why I wore it:

There was a little more rushing around when I wore this outfit. We had some errands to run and a doctor's appointment in the morning. I thought the cardigan buttoned up and worn like a tank would be perfect with shorts, as it was quite a sunny day. It was also rather windy though, so I did regret choosing shorts when walking between stores and giving Cooper his afternoon walk when the wind picked up.

The magenta Balenciaga Day bag is my favourite part of this outfit - it really pops with the navy cardigan. If it had been a less windy day, I would have liked this outfit more I'm sure. It was still warm in the sun, so jeans would have been too much with the cardigan buttoned up like this though. Not a bad outfit, just not the best for the weather that day!

Navy Cardigans Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

During those in-between seasons where it's not too hot or not too cold, a cardigan can be a good option with some shorts! A neutral navy cardigan like this will go with so much too. While this has buttons to take the hems up, you could easily replicate the second outfit with a waterfall drape cardigan you own and a brooch or pin.

Printed Shirts, Pencil Skirts and Colourful Cardigans With Mulberry Bayswater

With the winter weather arriving in Brisbane and it feeling a lot colder in the mornings, it gave me the wonderful opportunity to wear two of my newly purchased cardigans right away! I picked up these cardigans in the Jeanswest knitwear sale last month. I couldn't resist getting two of them!

What I wore:

Shirt: Zara star print shirt
SkirtJeanswest black ponte pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagMulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather (get it second-hand and cheaper here)

Why I wore it:

You might remember that I already have a little red cardigan. I decided to donate that one and replace it with this. It's thicker, warmer and with longer sleeves. I also I love the button feature! It's got a button on either side of the cardigan you can use to button up the hems. You can use it for breastfeeding, or to change the knit into a cowl neck top. Just wearing it simply here, letting the waterfall drape shine and the red pop against the black outfit.

Cooler weather means long sleeves more regularly too! I'm so pleased to be able to get this star print shirt out again. It's one of those pieces that is formal enough for work with the buttons but casual enough for stay at home mum style with denim. I love how it looked with the pencil skirt.

With the red cardigan being a big bright pop of colour with my outfit I went with a classic neutral tan for my accessories, with my Marc Jacobs ballet flats and Mulberry Bayswater bag.

Sadly, this may be last time I wear this shirt. I stupidly didn't check the setting on the iron and burned literally right through it when I tried to go over it quickly. So annoyed with myself! I'm going to take it to my tailor and see if it can be turned into a tank after I burned right through one of the sleeves.

Last worn: star print shirt, ponte pencil skirt, camel flats, Mulberry Bayswater. First time I've worn the cardigan as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearstar print shirt and burgundy pants, ponte pencil skirt, camel flats and sheath dress, Mulberry Bayswater and chambray dress.

Why I wore it:

It was this navy cardigan I'd seen on the website that prompted my trip into Jeanswest. When I saw the red one above hanging next to it, I decided to take them both in to try on, to pick my favourite. I decided I liked them both enough to buy them! I think this navy will be the perfect neutral to add to my winter wardrobe. I like how it worked with the blacks in this outfit, and just as the red cardigan did above, it kept me cosy on my autumn morning commute to work.
