Wearing Breastfeeding Clothes After You've Stopped Breastfeeding: Colourful Jeans and Blue Tops

Even though I'm no longer breastfeeding, I'm still happily wearing the maternity/nursing pieces I have in my wardrobe. The two blue tops below are perfect for breastfeeding. The blue tank is a specially designed nursing piece that I got while pregnant with Toddler T, and the wrap top is just a regular top I bought after Baby Boy was born. Both valuable pieces for breastfeeding, but also nice enough to wear afterwards!

Why I wore it:

Despite loving blue and purple together, this is the first time I've worn this navy tank with the purple skinny jeans. I really liked the combination and I'm surprised I haven't worn it before. Nice and simple outfit for a morning at playgroup and then running errands in the afternoon. The Converse were great for all the running around I did!

I'd forgotten that it was Superhero dress up day at daycare that week so I was that mum rushing around the stores in the afternoon trying to find super hero costumes! It seemed like everyone else had already done this a few days before as there were no little kids costumes to be found. Fortunately, a couple of masks and some superhero clothes the boys already had worked nicely for the day in the end.

The silicone teething necklace and the purple skinny jeans match beautifully together, so this was a good outfit for the 'matchy matchy' style challenge on Instagram.

It was nice to just wear a tank without a jacket - spring weather has been a little erratic lately but it's good to take advantage of warm days like this. The benefit of this tank and other specialised breastfeeding pieces that have hidden breastfeeding access is that you wouldn't know it was a breastfeeding top just by looking at it - definitely something that will stay in my wardrobe a long time!

Why I wore it:

Another breastfeeding friendly top, another pair of brightly coloured jeans. Unlike the tank above, this is just a regular wrap top that has the bonus of being perfect for breastfeeding in. And it's so soft and cosy. There might not be many more opportunities to wear it with our warmer spring weather having arrived, so it was good to get it out for another wear before I start to pack it and the rest of my winter things away.

Just like the outfit above, I was surprised to find that I hadn't worn this wrap top with the red skinny jeans before, and loved wearing them together. Again, I wore this to meet the day's style challenge on Instagram. This top was perfect for the 'wrap star' theme!

As I was wearing colourful clothes, I went with my usual fail-safe metallic silver accessories. This silver mini MAC bag goes with everything, as do the metallic bow detail ballet flats. They often get worn together!

Specifically designed nursing tops with hidden access for breastfeeding look just like normal clothes and transition beautifully into your wardrobe for motherhood post-breastfeeding. Which is helpful at reducing cost per wear, considering they are usually quite expensive to buy!
And of course wrap tops, v-necks and button ups continue to work in your wardrobe just like they did before breastfeeding.

Red Printed Maxi Skirt with Blue Tees and Denim Jacket

I'm really thrilled with this $3 maxi skirt I found in the opshop in August at the end of my 7 months without shopping. The red print pairs so beautifully with blue that I've worn it with blue tees twice since I got it, despite thinking of neutral pieces to wear it with when I first saw it. It resulted in these two similar outfits below, which I made a little different with accessories.

Why I wore it:

Wore this on a day where I wasn't feeling the best. I'd lost my voice at work the day before, but with a very busy weekend ahead I had to run a few errands and take baby boy for his no longer weekly but still very often weigh session.

I regretted my decision to go out when toddler T ran away to see something in the shopping centre as we came out of Woolies and I could only whisper at him to come back, not very effective!

This was an easy and comfortable outfit though and I did enjoy wearing it. Silver accessories were a failsafe choice. I like wearing this metallic silver mini MAC and the silver ballet flats with colourful outfits as they go with anything. Last time I wore this tee I wasn't feeling great either - it's such a good choice when I just want comfort!

Why I wore it:

You can see how far apart I wore these by the length of Cooper's fur in the background here, before his clip! 😂 Red, yellow and blue made for an easy outfit. Although I think the oversized tee and voluminous maxi skirt together wasn't the best combination, I did really like the colours together.

I was sure I'd seen @mummawears on Instagram wearing a similar skirt with a denim jacket, so that was the inspiration for this outfit at first. After I looked it up to check though I realised she'd worn a chambray shirt with hers. I decided on a blue tee to try replicate the look, as I don't have a chambray shirt.

This was a nice comfortable outfit for running a few errands and going to my local ABA mum's group.

As I've shared this skirt 3 times now and I like to review everything I buy after wearing it twice:
I love this skirt. It is a little long, which I work around by just wearing it higher up my waist. Petite problems! I'm not sure if I'll just keep doing that or get it tailored, it has a slight high-low hemline so wouldn't be a simple job to take up. For $3 I am happy to just wear it a little higher! And I still have a lot of outfit ideas for this, it's so beautiful to wear. So pleased I stumbled across it.

You don't have to stick to neutrals when putting an outfit together with a brightly coloured printed piece in your wardrobe like this maxi skirt. Red looks great with blue, and you can even add another colour like I did in the second outfit. The primary colours of red yellow and blue are an easy pairing and work well together.

Maxi Dresses, Denim Jacket and Silver Mini MAC

Father's day weekend celebrations at the start of September meant the chance to dress up a little with my favourite maxi dresses. Maxi dress and denim jacket is a frequently worn outfit combo for both spring and autumn for me.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for to celebrate Father's day with the family and then the in-laws in the afternoon. I got lucky and even though we ate out for lunch we had takeaway for dinner. It was nice not to have to cook anything other than breakfast all day!

This dress is so beautiful, always gets a lot of love when I wear it. Pleased to have it in my wardrobe after my bestie tired of it and gave it to me. I liked how well the feather pendant matched the peach of the dress, and the silver mini MAC bag was a good neutral too.

I wore silver ballet flats with this too but they are a little tricky to see as the breeze kept catching the hem of the dress.

Why I wore it:

I wore this the day before as we had an early Father's Day brunch with my dad and family. We ended up sitting outside at the restaurant and it was such lovely weather I really didn't need my denim jacket on. A good start to spring.

You'll probably already know that this maxi dress is my favourite given how much I wear it! One of those treasured maternity pieces that works perfectly for breastfeeding too and so pretty that I continue to wear it even though those days are behind me. Nothing new here with this wearing! It's been worn many times with this denim jacket, and the colourful Louis Vuitton bandeau scarf as a belt is a favourite go-to outfit combination.

Just like the outfit above I wore the metallic silver mini MAC bag with this, silver was a good neutral with the colourful dress.

The good thing about maxi dresses is that they work for so many occasions - later that afternoon we had to go grocery shopping, no need to change into a different outfit!

Easy Winter Outfits: Printed Shirts, Jeans and Cardigans With A Touch Of Red

While not shopping for 6 months, I'd try to focus on a little worn area of my wardrobe when I was stumped for something to wear. I was trying to think of something to wear when I realised it had been a while since I'd worn these printed shirts. It was a good excuse to get them out of the wardrobe and give them a wear.

Why I wore it:

Like I mentioned on Instagram, this shirt has not been worn for such a long time. Almost 2 years since I last wore it! I wanted to wear it postpartum, button up shirts being ideal for those early breastfeeding days. However things were very different from my previous pregnancy and postpartum time and I struggled to find things that would fit over my chest. Now things have settled down with breastfeeding, it's good to be able to wear this shirt again. It was a relief to try it on and find it actually buttoned up for once!

This was a nice comfortable outfit for a pram walk with the boys and some of my friends at the ABA along the waterfront at Wynnum. It was such a beautiful winter's day I quickly took the cardigan off and even began to wish I'd worn shorts. Aside from getting pretty warm on the walk back to the car, I did like this outfit. I liked the red cardigan matching the red strawberries on the blush shirt.

Why I wore it:

It's been over a year since I last wore this shirt! I knew it had been a while but didn't realise it had been that long! It's a pretty warm shirt so it only really gets worn in the cooler weather. I did try wear it in summer once and regretted my decision, ha! I really love this shirt so need to make an effort to wear it more often.

To stop my outfit looking too dull and monochromatic, I added these fun statement red jeans. I've been wearing my colourful denim a lot lately! In otherwise monochromatic outfits like this, the colour really pops against the black and greys. It's a nice and easy way to add a little more colour to your outfit. Incredibly practical for a playdate at the park too, especially when trying to juggle two energetic toddlers and an excitable Shih Tzu!

The cosy wool cardi was perfect for keeping me warm when the sun ducked behind the colours, and it was fun to photograph for instagram too!

How You Can Wear It:

Button up shirts are breastfeeding friendly so a good option for breastfeeding mums, but they feel a little more pulled together than a casual tee. A printed shirt is a good way to add some more interest to an outfit, but you don't have to stop there, you can add some extra colour too.

I've been trying to be more adventurous with colour lately and find sometimes it's easy to add a colourful piece to your outfit. In the first outfit I took the idea from the print in the shirt - the red strawberries made me think of my red cardigan. For the second outfit, I picked a bold red that really pops against the black and grey. Easy, quick to put together and simple.

Wearing Maxi Dresses In Winter With Scarves, Ankle Boots and Cardigans

My maxi dresses aren't packed away to wait for the warmer weather, I try to wear as much of my wardrobe year-round as possible. Adding a cosy scarf, cardigan and ankle boots makes them appropriate for a cooler day.

I did wear these outfits at the start of winter, when a thin cardi was all that was needed against the cold. If you follow me on Instagram you'll see I've upgraded to cosier jackets now it's the middle of winter.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a playdate at an indoor playground with the boys. It was a little tricky trying to split my time between the big kids area with toddler T and the baby area with Baby Boy, but they had a great time and there was even a few moments where I could sit down and chat with the other mums and enjoy my hot chocolate.


This dress is one I loved over summer so I'm eager to make it work in winter too. It was a little chilly when the wind picked up in this, as each tier has a little crochet detail the wind went right through. I think I'll try leggings underneath next time I wear it. Seeing this outfit and writing this post has given me another outfit idea to try with this dress as well. There is a benefit to being so behind with blogging, ha!

It's not the first time I've worn yellow accessories with this dress but since I liked the combination so much last time I tried it, decided to try it again with this yellow scarf. Worked well to keep my neck and chest covered and cosy too. A much brighter winter outfit that I'd normally wear, but one I loved.

Why I wore it:

Another maxi skirt, cosy cardi and scarf combo. Just like the maxi skirt above, the low neckline isn't the best for winter so I bundled up with another cosy blanket scarf to keep my chest and neck warm. I thought I was being quite clever wearing the feather print scarf and dress together, but even with the Instagram close up you can't see the print on the scarf very well.

The darker print on this dress makes it perfect for winter so it was good to get it out again and layer it up in the cooler weather. The dress is more blue than purple but I still think the purple cardigan goes nicely with it.


Although previously I've worn this dress for a wedding, this time around it was just a casual outfit to go to playgroup. I really do think maxi dresses work for so many different events - I've never felt out of place wearing a maxi dress, in any season.

Layering is one of the best things about winter. It keeps you cosy and allows you to wear clothes that you'd ordinarily set aside until the warm weather returns. Both of these maxi dresses are perfect summer pieces but with a scarf, cosy cardi and ankle boots they work perfectly in the cooler winter weather.

Don't leave your favourite summer pieces unworn, find the right layers you need to make them work year-round. Leather jackets and maxi dresses are another good winter weather outfit option!

Colourful Winter Dressing: Printed Jeans with Pink and Cobalt

I love blue and pink together, so I like to wear it year-round. While I do tend to wear more neutrals in winter (it makes layering easy as everything goes), it's nice to add a little bit of colour or a fun print to your outfit sometimes. The cobalt leather jacket I'm wearing in the outfits below is both cosy and colourful, and paired with pink it makes for a cheerful winter outfit.

A neutral bag is an essential in both outfits while I have so much else going on with the prints and colour.

Why I wore it:

Had a busy but kid-free few hours when I wore this. The beading on this ombre tank is beautiful but I worry about how it will hold up with tiny little grabby hands so it's been a while since it was last worn! I was pregnant with Baby Boy when I last wore it. 😲 Definitely a piece that feels more special and doesn't get worn for everyday stay at home mum duties.

When I was thinking of what to wear and putting this outfit together I worried it maybe had a little too much going on, with the beaded ombre tank, bright cobalt jacket and printed jeans. But I loved this final outfit. The neutral Balenciaga bag was a good choice so it didn't compete with all the print and colour. I was happy and comfortable all day, despite running late to almost every appointment, oops.

Nail Polish: OPI Fire Escape Rendezvous

Why I wore it:

This was what I wore for the instagram style challenge prompt of 'shop your wardrobe'. Which applies to every outfit I've worn since my last purchase in December! I didn't plan anything special to meet the style challenge prompt for the day, I just wanted to wear this tank and the leopard print jeans together as I thought it would be a nice combination.

Again I went with a neutral bag, the metallic mini MAC, as my outfit felt quite busy already with the colours and print together. I felt completely different in this outfit compared to the one above though. I'd been so sure about this as I planned it out in my head, only to put it on in the morning and felt it was missing something. I added the necklace but I'm still not sure that was what the outfit needed - maybe a scarf instead.

As we were running late for books and rhymes at the library I just wore it anyway. Not one of the worst outfits I've worn, as I didn't completely hate it, just another of those cases where the outfit doesn't look as good as you think it will in your head! I did really like the cobalt jacket and leopard print jeans together at least - I'll have to try that again soon.

Other ways to wear: cobalt leather jacket and dress, metallic tank and chambray, pink leopard print jeans and blazer, Converse All Star and maxi skirt, Rebecca Minkoff metallic mini MAC and denim shorts.

Perfect for pregnancy: leopard print jeans in early second trimester, Converse and maternity shorts, mini MAC worn as a clutch in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

While neutral layers are practical and make winter layering easy, you can have some fun with your outfit by adding more colour, as statement print, or both! If you're experimenting with colour and prints in your outfit, you might want to pick a classic neutral handbag that won't compete for attention.

Summer tanks can be a fun addition to your winter wardrobe, and with the right layers can be worn year round. While I'm wearing a colourful leather jacket above, a bright cardigan or scarf would work just as well to add more colour. Printed jeans can also be worn year-round to add another element of interest to your outfits.
