It was still quite warm and humid after Sunday's massive storm, so wore a nice light dress to the office on Monday. Added a little bit of colour with the necklace and bag. Decided not to belt this dress, although I usually do I wear a belt with it, I actually liked it worn without one today. Was much too hot for Cooper too, he wasn't in the mood to look at the camera! haha.
Necklace: Pink bead necklace, possibly Diva? Bracelets: the usual Dress: French Connection blue Paisley print dress Shoes: Nine West silver strap sandals Bag: Balenciaga RH work in 2005 Magenta
So I didn't realise just how similar my outfit was to yesterday's until I went to upload the photos! Bright necklace, matching Balenciaga bag, printed dress and sandals 2 days in a row! Just wanted to be comfortable and cool in the last of the heat we are getting, so I'm sticking with what works. At least it's not jeans and a tee, right? ;)
Yes, another long sleeve top, pretty skirt combo. I've been very uninspired this week, sorry! Just so cold and wet in the mornings again, not very nice after our warm weekend. Have to admit, it's been nice to have an easy ready-to-go outfit to fall back on. Although I may have been wearing my skull scarves a bit much - a colleague noticed this one and was amazed I could have a cheerful pink scarf covered in skulls. He's quite amused I have so many colours and variations, haha.
Jeans for casual Friday! I bought this grey jumper earlier in the year in Melbourne, thinking it would be really practical and I'd wear it often. This is only the second wearing and I'm surprised I haven't worn it as much as I thought I would. This scarf on the other hand, I thought may be a nice neutral I'd reach for now and then, and I'm wearing it a LOT at the moment as it seems to go with everything. Funny how that happens. Maybe points to me needing to understand my wardrobe better before I make purchases?
Do you have things you wear more or less than you thought you would when you bought them? Or tips for how to identify things you won't wear often when shopping?
Had to fly to another city and back for work today. Carried my biggest bag to have room for everything, and a nice big scarf to keep me warm.
I made the most out of my trip by meeting my bestie for a quick lunch in a scheduled break between meetings. While the work day was extremely productive and we made a lot of progress having everyone in one room together, the highlight of my trip was definitely catching up with my friend. We have very similar tastes, so we snapped some pictures of our Balenciaga bags together at lunch.
Balenciaga magenta city and work side by side! Photo taken by my very talented friend.
The trench was last worn here, scarf here, dress here, bag here and shoes here.
Just a nice lazy option for work on Wednesday - printed dress and nice bright bag. Although when I had to unexpectedly go to another office for a meeting I did wish I hadn't worn brand new shoes, haha. They've broken in nicely now.
This is one of two pairs of shoes I got in the 65% off sale Wittner had a week or so ago. I'll try get better pics next time I wear them, without Cooper's tail in the way!
Relying on the heels, printed dress and big bag formula again today. Not feeling energetic after my long work days so I just want to wear easy comfortable clothes while adding the heels to try look professional. Plus I get to wear my new shoes!
Last worn: jacket: see above, French Connection dress, bag. First time I've worn the shoes as they are a new purchase.
First up my friend who makes a lot of the beautiful pieces of jewelry that I wear on the blog has opened her facebook store - check it out! Indigo Rose Design on Facebook! Every piece is designed and handmade by her in Australia.
My ebay impulse buy bag was deemed authentic by the experts at Effen Haute Forum so I took it out today. Very happy! I have been wanting another Balenciaga work for a long time, and I love the colour of 2005 magenta.
Here's what I wore today:
Top: Mei Mei bought in a now closed boutique on a fun lunchtime shopping trip with K
Skirt: Asos tailored tab front pencil skirt in grey
Necklace: Chanel (via Reebonz)
Bracelets: the usual plus 2 freshwater pearl ones (black and white pearls) from Indigo Rose Design
Shoes: Nine west black flats (first seen here)
Bag: New-to-me Balenciaga 2005 Magenta RH work
I covered up with a Jeanswest cardi in the office.
Pics taken by the lovely K from Make Every Move Count, she has volunteered to be my official workplace photographer! She's so sweet.
Closeup of accessories:
And a better picture of my new-to-me bag: my Balenciaga 2005 magenta work in regular hardware.
I am so in love.
My bestie has the same bag but in the city style - I need to plan another trip to visit her and get a pic of the two bags side by side!
A nice bright red dress seemed fitting for Valentine's day! Hope you have a lovely day, if you are in a couple or if you're single. DH has to work tonight so we are having a quiet one.
The dress was last worn here, sandals here and bag here.
I really like wearing this greeny-blue Rocco bag with blue clothes! Have been wanting to pair it with this dress for a little while, one of my favourite dresses. I like the fact that it pairs so well with black, brown or tan accessories.
A while back I won a blog competition on What Would Karl Do, and I got a warehouse voucher. I used it recently in the Warehouse sale to buy a skirt, jumper and this jacket. So I'm not sure how to mark the purchase on my blog as I bought it, but only with the voucher I won. It's not gifted and it's not C/O so do I just say "purchased with competition prize gift voucher" every time? If you know the blog rules help me out :)
The jacket is really warm - I ended up taking it off in the office. Maybe because jackets need to be thicker in the UK as it's so cold? Will be nice as the weather starts to cool here.
Bit of a long post for today's Weekday Wear Linkup, sharing 3 outfits I wore recently with blue dresses and pink bags. Both things I have a lot of in my wardrobe, they pair so perfectly together!
A dress is an easy not too formal but not too casual outfit for a training day too, and that's why I wore these outfits to a training course for work.
I was surprised to see that I hadn't worn this dress and bag together before when I hunted through my blog archive. Both much loved pieces, I was sure I'd worn them together before!
I think the casual boho peasant style of the printed dress works really nicely with the slouchy pink Balenciaga city bag. The colour combo is great too!
Unfortunately these are not the shoes I wore. I've been taking pics in the morning with the shoes I've been wearing in the office and commuting in my daggy old sneakers to try reduce the pain on my knee. A frantic realisation we were out of bread for the kids breakfasts and a dash to the shops before breakfast and then trying to make it into the city on time, I'd forgotten to pick up the bag with these shoes to change into. Thankfully I made it to the course on time but I felt a bit out of place with the sneakers!
Thankfully I remembered the bag with my shoes in it this time so I was able to wear these lovely ballet flats during the day! I really like the way all the accessories matched with the silver multi strand necklace, metallic ballet flats, and silver hardware on the Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag.
This blue Paisley print sheath dress is a firm favourite too and was what I wore to the first day of training, as I wasn't sure about the dress code. Something I've worn for important meetings and to be dressed down for casual Friday, this dress is so versatile! I like the way the pastel pink Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag went with the Paisley print too.
Another blue dress and another pink bag! This isn't even all my blue dresses or pink bags, I really do have a few! I liked the way this magenta Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag popped with the navy Ikat print dress.
Like the other blue dresses above, this is a favourite and I even took it to Europe with me last year.
Rather than wear a statement necklace I went with my Tiffany diamond necklace and the silver leaf earrings which are a perfect statement on their own, and added a little extra colour with the skinny lilac belt. This belt is an old one I rediscovered after finally finding the box of belts I'd hidden away in pregnancy a while back. Unfortunately being pleather, being stored in a box for years in the Queensland heat and humidity has not been kind to it and it actually disintegrated and snapped when I unbuckled it at the end of the day. Such a shame!
Blue and pink look so good together and as you can see in each of these outfits, you can pair any shade of blue with any shade of pink! Using bright accessories like these pink bags is a fun way to try out the colour combo and shows you how versatile a pink bag can be, it's easy to wear with colourful printed pieces and not just neutrals!

Nice casual comfortable outfit to work from home and attend a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. This stripe tank is one of the bargains I picked up in the last 40% off Jeanswest sale. They have another sale on at the moment too...and I bought more things... I can't resist the sales, I should subscribe from the emails! The scarf was a good addition for a bit of print mixing and to keep me warm as it was a little chilly in the morning.
Are you sick of this dress yet? haha! I'm not! I'm planning to wear it every week for the rest of my pregnancy, it's just such a good maternity work wear option. Had a big meeting this afternoon so I felt appropriately dressed.
Added some colour with the shoes, bag and scarf as I don't tend to wear a lot of colour with this dress and wanted to change that. The scarf is a new purchase from Reebonz a while back to use up some more of my credits, bought in anticipation of the weather cooling down! I can't even resist sales when the items are for another season!
And yet more sale talk.... the ShopBop friends and family sale is on now! 25% off everything - including sale items! - with code 'INTHEFAMILY14'
Was a nice warm day today - rather sad to spend the day in the office though and view the sunshine through the window! Was good to be able to wear a skirt without my winter opaques needed for warmth though.
It's nice to see how my work wardrobe has changed over time - gone from preferring pants to loving dresses and skirts, even in winter. This beautiful blue lace pencil skirt is one of my favourites. Although I don't seem to wear it much in winter, it got a work out at the start of the year with the warmer temperatures. I expect it to pop up more in future ;) Tried a little bit of pattern mixing today by wearing it with a printed top, what do you think?
I've mentioned before I'm happy to keep my summer pieces out and wear them year round. On a mild winter day (which is most winter days in Brisbane to be honest) all I need is a cosy cardi on top and it's perfect.
First wearing of these new jeans! I was lucky enough to know someone doing the $5 challenge who saved more than they expected and decided to surprise people by using the money to treat them. (Can't share who it was as they are surprising multiple people!). I said I didn't need anything with my no-buy challenge, but there is that loophole where if someone else buys it for you it's not breaking the challenge! 😉
I went into Jeanswest, just for a look, and saw these jeans which were the perfect candidate to replace my old (10 year +) grey jeans I wasn't entirely happy with. I prefer a higher rise now. Super excited to have something new in my wardrobe, although it does mean saying goodbye to these old jeans. They had a good run and hadn't been worn a lot recently - I can see very few times in the past few years I've had the blog anyway.
As this was a quiet day, just a couple errands and grocery shopping, I decided to try something I'd been thinking about for a while and pairing the similarly coloured magenta bag and cardigan together. I actually really liked the combination! It was good to get this old tank out too. It hasn't been worn in a while after outgrowing it in pregnancy.
A much more colourful printed tank in this outfit! :) The last time I wore this tank it was the height of summer and despite the heatwave we headed out to see Thomas the tank engine at the rail museum.
Although it was winter this time around, I ended up swapping my thick wool cardigan for this thinner one, as it looked like it might warm up. It was again a hot and sunny day, I was pleased I picked the thinner cardigan! I loved this tank, bag and cardigan together when I wore it with flares so I knew I'd like the combination again with different jeans.
Had a lot of fun with the boys running around the museum and playing with all the Thomas toys, and it was good being able to take a picture in the same spot with the same tank but a different season! Just goes to show you don't have to put all your summer tanks away when winter arrives.
Your summer printed tanks can still be layered up and worn in winter with a cosy cardigan. Layering with printed pieces doesn't have to be tricky. For a neutral printed tank, try a plain block colour cardigan like in the first outfit. Neutral layers work well with a textured and colourful printed tank too. Monochromatic greys and black like in the second outfit make a colourful printed tank really pop.
