Maxi Skirts, Alexander McQueen Skull Scarves and Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB Tote Bag

With the autumn temperatures slowly starting to arrive, it's been good to get my scarf collection out again. While baby is small I'm avoiding necklaces or extra bracelets he could get tangled in, but a scarf is so easy to remove when feeding and soft for baby to snuggle into.

What I wore:

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote in plum
SunniesRay-Ban new Wayfarers (30% off at Nordstrom!)
ScarfAlexander McQueen modal skull scarf in white/pink
TankAtmos & Here Oregon stripe tank (on sale!)
Skirt: Jeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs black logo plaque ballet flats
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote in plum (on sale in pink!)

Why I wore it:

Had some shopping to do in the morning and family came to visit in the afternoon. Wanted to add some colour to the black outfit with the colourful scarf and bag. Maxi skirt, stripes and colourful accessories - such a simple and practical outfit. I really liked wearing this.

Last worn: Ray-Ban wayfarer, pink and cream skull scarf, striped tank, black maxi skirt, Marc Jacobs ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote.

Other ways to wearpink skull scarf with blue and teal, striped tank and flared jeans, black maxi skirt and a baby bump, Marc Jacobs ballet flats and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote and a tie dye maxi dress.

Skirt: Target grey marle maxi skirt

BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote in plum (on sale with zipped sides!)

Why I wore it:

Because I really liked the maxi skirt and skull scarf combo above, I tried it again. And again I really liked it. Perfect for the daycare drop off / pick up and a doctor's appointment in the afternoon. I've worn the tee and skirt and the tee and scarf together before.

Wasn't sure if the burgundy tee and purple bag would go together though. I actually googled for 'burgundy purple outfits' during baby boy's late night feed (when I usually plan what I'll wear for the day!) to try and figure out if my outfit idea would work! I'm glad I gave it a go though. It was good to try a little something different and I think the purple looks nice with the burgundy.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers (above), taupe skull scarf, wine oversized tee, grey marle maxi skirt, gold mouse flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote (above).

Other ways to weartaupe skull scarf and printed pants, burgundy tee and gold jeans, grey marle maxi skirt and a graphic tee, gold mouse flats and a wrap dress, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB tote and denim shorts.

Monthly Purchases: May

Despite buying a few things in April, I managed to buy quite a bit in May. I focused mainly on accessories as clothes shopping so soon after birth is tricky - it's difficult enough guessing what in your own wardrobe will fit, never mind trying to pick the right size from a store!

Lots of impulse buys but everything that is sure to work in my wardrobe over winter. It still feels strange to think that winter is just a few days away, with autumn being so warm. The weather is cooling though, already we have caught our first cold of the season. So no full video this month, I've lost my voice! I did take a reveal of my Yoox sale purchases before I got sick, so you get to see some of the things I bought in action but not all.

What I bought in May

How I wore my purchases:

Away From Blue Blog May Purchases: Winter Wardrobe Update

I have a goal of wearing things twice in a month after buying them. It means that when I buy something I've thought of two different ways to wear it, and that I can wear it right away. By doing this I'm hoping to add things to my wardrobe that will actually be useful and worn frequently.

Just like last month, I bought a necklace I haven't worn yet as I'm avoiding necklaces in the early days of breastfeeding. I know I'll wear it a lot in future though, I wear the silver version often, and it's nice to have a gold one of Cooper to match with the gold initial necklaces I have for the boys.

While I found it easy to wear the cardi and the top, I found the scarves trickier. As it's been a mild autumn I've been wanting to maximise the wearing of my kimonos before it gets too cold. I can't wrap my head around a kimono and scarf outfit, so the scarves haven't been worn much yet. I know I'll be wearing the scarves a lot more over winter though.

Cross Body Bags and Maternity Tanks and Shorts: Summer SAHM Style

While it's autumn in Australia, I'll be continuing to share more summer outfits. Because I'm a little behind with blogging and because Brisbane isn't showing any signs of reducing the 30+ degree temperatures we've had over summer.

More singlets and shorts summer outfits. It really is the best way to keep as cool as possible in the third trimester, if you don't count a bikini as acceptable clothing outside of the pool/beach! To vary things a little, one brighter outfit and one neutral outfit, both with different cross body bags.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | lace kimono jeanswest jenni maternity singlet georgie boyfriend denim shorts LV speedy B

AwayFromTheBlue | Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene speedy bandouliere cross body bag 30
JacketShein cream lace kimono (C/O)
Necklace: Happiness Boutique turquoise and coral pendant necklace (C/O)
TankJeanswest maternity tank in sea glass
ShortsJeanswest Georgie maternity boyfriend shorts (available in non-maternity also)
Shoesslim gold Havaianas
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

Felt like it had been a while (4 months!) since I last wore this lace kimono so decided to get it out again. Had to take toddler T to a checkup at the doctors in the morning, then we had his gymboree class.

I've been wearing this gold necklace a lot recently - it seems to go with everything, and although the stone is turquoise I thought I'd give it a try with the green tank. Didn't mind the combination.

Last worn: lace kimono, green maternity tank, maternity boyfriend shorts, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.

Other ways to wearlace kimono and chambray dress, green maternity tank and navy kimono, maternity shorts and a non-maternity top, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and skinny jeans.

ShortsJeanswest maternity rolled up shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Why I wore it:

Another day, another maternity singlet and shorts combo, but this time with a different cross body bag. While the LV speedy bag I wore above is a nice neutral for a bright outfit, this time it was a bright bag and a neutral outfit.

In case you missed me sharing about it on twitter, I had a chat with Eileen about handbags for Sugarmama.tv. I shared my must-have bags, as she's currently writing about capsule wardrobe planning. I said a cross body bag was a real essential for mums. Now that toddler T spends almost all his time outside of his stroller, cross body bags have been really helpful! I'm starting to think I might be wearing nothing but cross body bags by the time baby comes along. Just as well I have a few in my handbag collection to pick from!

Jeanswest Maternity Tanks and Denim Shorts in Third Trimester With Balenciaga Magenta Day Bag

When I was post-Christmas sales shopping I had some Jeanswest vouchers to spend. I splurged on a couple more maternity tanks, even though I was close to the end of the second trimester. I'm struggling a bit with the summer heat and I'm finding singlet and shorts is a great go-to outfit, so I felt the late pregnancy purchase was justified. I'm sure to get a lot of wear out of these in the final trimester! I'm wearing both of the tanks below.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Singlet and Shorts Third Trimester Bright accessories statement necklace

AwayFromTheBlue | Balenciaga Magenta day bag silver tiffany bracelets
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Eye Candy LA 'Sasha' statement necklace
SingletJeanswest Carla Maternity Cut out tank (non-maternity version, new purchase)
ShortsJeanswest maternity rolled up shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta

Why I wore it:

It's the first time I've worn this tank. I'd saved it for a hot day so I didn't cover up the awesome laser cut detail with a kimono, but it hasn't really shown up well in the photo! It has laser cutouts on the shoulders and on the back, you can see it better on the Jeanswest site.

I thought the bright statement necklace and colourful bag dressed up a casual outfit nicely, and added a lovely touch of colour. I had the day off to relax and unwind and I spent some time with my mum in the afternoon.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, Jeanswest maternity shorts, Havaianas, Balenciaga magenta day bag. First time I've worn this tank as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearJeanswest maternity shorts and stripes, Balenciaga magenta day bag in the office.

More great maternity tanks under $50:

What I wore:

Away From Blue | 3rd trimester summer OOTD Jeanswest Sol Maternity jacquard tank Georgie denim shorts

AwayFromTheBlue | Balenciaga 2005 magenta day hobo bag silver turquoise bracelets
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: custom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
TankJeanswest Sol Maternity jacquard tank (non-maternity version)
ShortsJeanswest Georgie maternity boyfriend shorts (available in non-maternity also)
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus turquoise and silver beaded bracelet set
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta

Why I wore it:

Unlike my other tank in the first outfit, this is the second wearing of this one that I bought at the same time. I'm loving the print on this. The material is different to my other Jeanswest maternity tanks too, not as stretchy but very soft so it's lovely to wear. Wore this to work from home.

Kept the same bag as I love the way the magenta pops against the blue.

As it's the second time I've worn this tank and I'm reviewing everything I buy after wearing it twice in a month to see if I'm buying things that will be well used in my wardrobe, my purchase review:

I love this tank. It's different from the other maternity tanks I have as it has a print, it's light and cool to wear and of course it's in my favourite colour. Even though I only have a few months left in my pregnancy I'm glad I bought this. Otherwise I'd end up wearing nothing but the three plain maternity singlets I had before!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers (above), Jeanswest printed maternity tank, maternity boyfriend shorts, Havaianas (above), Balenciaga day bag (above).

Other ways to wear: printed maternity tank in the office, maternity boyfriend shorts and a floral kimono, Balenciaga day bag and a maxi skirt.

Corporate Style: Wrap Dresses In Third Trimester and Rebecca Minkoff Medium MAB Tote

Gong Xi Fa Cai to everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year! Neither of the outfits below feature the traditional red or gold, instead I'm sharing what I wore to work a few weeks ago. Toddler T is still getting generously showered in little red envelopes though, we celebrate Chinese New Year.

Congratulations to Sarah who won the #Struggles Book giveaway, by sharing some great advice for anyone feeling overwhelmed with social media:
The advice that I would give is to fast from social media. When you give it up, you give up your ties to it and it's hold on you is gone. Just distance yourself from it at least for a while.
There were lots of great entries, and similar advice, but I liked Sarah's mention that sometimes we need to to break the 'hold' we feel social media has on us.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Atmos&Here Betsy jersey wrap dress in watercolour print third trimester outfit

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff moon navy medium MAB Tote bag baby bump
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace
DressAtmos&Here Betsy jersey wrap dress in watercolour print (new purchase)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus turquoise and silver beaded bracelet set
BagRebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote in moon navy (on sale in blackor in blue)

Why I wore it:

I was excited to wear my new dress! I saw this on incredible sale at the Iconic for boxing day and ordered a size larger than my usual so that it would hopefully fit the baby bump. Was really pleased to find it accommodated a third trimester belly nicely. It's still on sale too...

I had an important meeting in the morning and then lunch with friends in the afternoon, this dress was the perfect office wear for that. And the print nicely disguised the fact that I spilled a little sauce down the front at lunch, haha!

Last worn: studded mouse flats, Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote bag. First time I've worn the dress as it is a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearstudded mouse flats and a pencil skirt, Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote bag and winter layering.

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagRebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote in moon navy (on sale in greyor in burgundy)

Why I wore it:

While the dress in my first outfit isn't a maternity piece, this maternity wrap dress is one of my favourite pregnancy purchases from last time around. It always looks good, worked well for another day in the office and the navy MAB tote goes with everything of course.

I'm not sure how much use this bag will get when I go on maternity leave, but it's so perfect for the office and I think such a classic style I'm pleased I bought it last year.

Maternity Tanks, Prints and Pencil Skirts: Third Trimester Office Wear with Balenciaga Magenta Day Bag

My January purchases and some third trimester office wear. Although I'm trying not to dress too casually for work, my maternity tanks are so comfortable I'm looking for ways to make them work in the office. Adding a blazer on top is a great way to do that!

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Third Trimester Print Mixing Paisley Scarf Tartan Plaid Pencil Skirt

AwayFromTheBlue | Zara Black Jersey Blazer Balenciaga 2005 magenta day hobo bag RH
ScarfJeanswest Lux paisley print scarf (C/O)
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace
TankJeanswest maternity tank in white
SkirtAsos maternity panelled pencil skirt in tartan check (non-maternity version here)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta (new purchase)

Why I wore it:

It was quite cold and rainy - but welcome as it broke the heatwave we'd been having. I did consider wearing pants in the morning and wished I had during the day. I liked the print mixing with the scarf and tartan pencil skirt together. This is my favourite blazer and although I can't button it over the baby bump it works well unbuttoned. Just as perfect for the office as it is with jeans.

Last worn: Zara blazer, printed scarf, white maternity tank, tartan pencil skirt, silver tuxedo flats, Balenciaga magenta day bag.

Other ways to wearjersey blazer and a printed dress, printed scarf and chambray, maternity tank and a maxi skirt, tartan pencil skirt with brown and orange, silver tuxedo flats and a maxi dress, Balenciaga magenta day bag and a graphic tee.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Third Trimester Office Wear Pencil skirt printed maternity tank

AwayFromTheBlue | Balenciaga 05 magenta purple day bag silver turquoise bracelet stack
Jacket: no label white drape jacket
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace layered with custom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
Tank: Jeanswest Sol maternity jacquard tank (new purchase)
SkirtAtmos&Here grey marle jersey pencil skirt (also available in black or stripes)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus turquoise and silver beaded bracelet set
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta

Why I wore it:

This tank is another of my post-Christmas sale purchases. You can tell I had some Jeanswest gift vouchers to spend! I wouldn't normally be able to wear this skirt in the third trimester, but as the maternity tank is so long I was able to wear the elastic waist of the skirt under the bump and have the tank cover up all of the baby belly and then some. I was actually able to tuck the tank into the skirt. Benefits of being petite, maternity tanks are quite long.

In contrast to the previous outfit above, this was such a hot day. I took the blazer off after these pictures and just wore it around the office to keep my shoulders covered. It was much too hot and humid to wear it long on the commute.

Last worn: waterfall drape jacket, grey marle pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Balenciaga Magenta Day bag (above). First time I've worn the tank as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearwaterfall drape jacket and printed shorts, grey pencil skirt layered for winter, studded mouse flats and a printed dress, Balenciaga Magenta Day bag and a maxi skirt.

January Purchases

Continuing on with recording what I buy each month and keeping a track of how many times I wear things, here's what I bought in January and at the end of December in the post-Christmas sales.

That's a lot! I had some gift cards to spend and there were so many good sales on....so far the most worn items have been the maternity bras. I don't usually talk underwear on the blog but a good maternity bra is a pregnancy and breastfeeding essential and these two are just so perfect!

I don't anticipate buying any more clothing until after baby arrives, so there are likely to be few monthly haul videos for a while. I'm not entirely ruling out getting some accessories though.... ;)

Tank Tops, Jersey Maxi Skirts, Rebecca Minkoff Love Bag in Third Trimester

Despite having bought a few maternity items to see me through this pregnancy (in addition to the pieces I already had from last pregnancy), I still want to try and wear regular non-maternity pieces when I can. Otherwise I'll get pretty uninspired with outfit choices in the final weeks when I no longer fit into regular clothes! I managed to squeeze the third trimester baby bump into some pretty tanks for what is sure to be their last wear until after baby arrives.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Third Trimester untucked tank stripe maxi skirt OOTD

AwayFromTheBlue | Silver bracelet stack Rebecca Minkoff Love bag
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers (on sale!)
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace
TankJeanswest 'Darcy' embellished top in Winter coral
Skirt: Target black and white striped maxi skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats (on sale!)
Bracelets: the usual plus silver cuff
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey (on sale in black and white!)

Why I wore it:

Wore this out for the last lunch of the year - this was my new year's eve outfit. The tank had the right amount of sparkle for the occasion. Not quite as much as my sparkly Christmas outfits, but nice all the same. The style challenge for the day was 'sparkles' which made this sequin embellished tank a great choice.

I enjoyed wearing this although it didn't look great when I looked back at the photos - the breeze didn't help! I think the tank untucked with the maxi skirt just looked a little weird, I prefer to tuck this tank in when I wear it as it's really long on my petite frame, even with the baby belly. Bit of an outfit fail.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, sequin tank, striped maxi skirt, tuxedo flats, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.

Other ways to wearsequin tank and skinny jeans, striped maxi skirt in winter without a baby bump, tuxedo flats and a maxi dress, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag and a colourful cardigan.

More embellished / button down tank tops for under $50:

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Printed tank tucked into grey maxi skirt third trimester BBQ outfit

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey Roie Designs wrap bracelet
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers (on sale!)
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace layered with Tai gold alphabet necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Florence print long line tank (new purchase, on sale!)
Skirt: Target grey marle maxi skirt
Shoes: slim gold Havaianas (new purchase)
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs waxed leather cream howlite beaded wrap bracelet
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey (on sale in black and white!)

Why I wore it:

Wore this out to a BBQ for the first day of the new year. Unlike the outfit I'd worn the day before, I tucked this tank in and much preferred this outfit over the one above. Just a simple thing, to tuck or untuck a top, but it can make a big difference. And show off the growing third trimester bump nicely! :)

This top was one of my post Christmas sale buys from Jeanswest. I'd actually tried this top on before, months ago, and wasn't sure it would accommodate the baby bump so I left it in the store. I kept thinking about it though. When I came across it again in the outlet store reduced even further I was so happy. Even more so to find that it did fit the baby bump! The buttons will come in handy post-baby for breastfeeding too. Even if I was pushing the limits of it here and can't wear it again until after baby arrives, I'm so pleased to have found and bought this.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer (above), grey maxi skirt, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag (above). First time I've worn the thongs (flip flops) and tank as they are recent purchases.

Other ways to weargrey maxi skirt layered for winter, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag and skinny jeans.

Printed Kimonos, Jeanswest Maternity Tops and Shorts, Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC Bag | Australia Day Sales

First up, hope everyone has an awesome Australia day tomorrow! We had a BBQ over the weekend and it was wonderful catching up with everyone.

If you're doing some shopping there are a lot of extra sales and discounts on for Australia day! I've wrapped up the best at the bottom of the post.

Congrats to 'Wehaf' who won the sunglasses giveaway. I'll have another giveaway this week.

Now, what I've been wearing. I have been loving kimonos and denim shorts this summer! I picked up yet another new kimono when we went boxing day sale shopping.

What I wore:

Away From Blue Blog | Third Trimester Summer Jeanswest Maternity Outfit floral kimono

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff aquamarine Mini MAC bag
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Jacket: Cotton On 'Gemma' cocoon kimono in Laos blossom navy print (new purchase)
Necklace: gifted Eye Candy LA 'Sasha' statement necklace
SingletJeanswest maternity tank in white
ShortsJeanswest maternity rolled up shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather

Why I wore it:

Although I'm frowning a little in this picture (it was really bright!) I love this outfit. I'd happily wear it over and over again. The statement necklace was an awesome Christmas present from my bestie, and this kimono is the one I got in the sales. Reduced from $39.95 to $3, I couldn't say no! It's more of a cocoon style and feels just like being wrapped in a giant blanket. Although not too warm, it is still perfect for the summer heat and was great for a morning at the library singing and dancing with toddler T.

I really liked the colours in this outfit too. The style challenge for the day was 'animal instinct' but the animal print pieces I thought I could wear the bump had outgrown, so I had to have a subtle nod to the theme with the python embossed leather on my Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, white maternity tank, Jeanswest maternity denim, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC. First time I've worn the kimono as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearwhite maternity tank with blue and pink, Jeanswest maternity shorts and a maxi cardi, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC and a maxi skirt.

Fab floral kimonos under $50:

(The first one is the one I'm wearing below, it's on crazy sale and such a good buy!)

Why I wore it:

Another kimono! My favourite from my Asos sale order last year. They are having another sale at the moment, 15% off everything with code 'SWEETMATE' for Australia day!

Wore this out shopping. We've been seriously de-cluttering over the Christmas break and while we donated a lot and discarded a lot more, realised we had a lot of things we wanted to keep (like toddler T's artwork!) but nowhere to put it. We went out to buy a few boxes and check out some more of the sales. I had a Jeanswest voucher I'd found when cleaning out that expired the next day so it was a good excuse to go shopping there too.

The style challenge for the day was 'dramatic eyes' which I didn't even attempt - I know my limits with eye makeup! - so I just skipped it entirely, and wore something I'd been thinking of for a while. It thought the sea glass green colour of this maternity tee would look nice with the print on the kimono, and was pleased with how it turned out.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer (above), Somedays Lovin' kimono, maternity tee, Jeanswest maternity shorts, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC (above).
