What I wore:
Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Tee: Jeanswest Sophie navy v-neck tee
Shorts: thrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
Shoes: slim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold
Why I wore it:
I needed to have a bright and colourful outfit to surprise my sons who were getting awards at school. I'd had to dash away from work to see it, so I got there a little late and was stuck in the back of the crowd, but was so pleased that they both saw and noticed me. I think this yellow cape is very hard to miss! The navy tee and denim shorts are a combination I'm sure I've worn before, but it's the first time I've tried this mustard bag with the brighter yellow cape. I really liked this combination, and the bag was just roomy enough for the essentials for the school run and a camera for taking some photos of the ceremony.
Last worn: yellow printed cape, navy v-neck tee, gold filigree necklace, boyfriend denim shorts, navy Havaianas, mustard micro Regan bag.
Other ways to wear: yellow printed cape with black and white outfit, navy v-neck tee and olive shorts, boyfriend denim shorts in fully thrifted outfit, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag worn 30 ways.

Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in elfin yellow
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
Shoes: Adidas Stan Smith sneakers in white and navy
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip
Last worn: tropical floral print duster, pastel yellow tee, feather necklace, black denim skirt, Stan Smith sneakers, yellow mini 5-zip bag.

Ways to Wear Colourful Handbags
What I wore:
Necklace: Roie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in elfin yellow
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
Shoes: Adidas Stan Smith sneakers in white and navy
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip
Why I wore it:
This pastel tee was a lot more muted, so I added a little more yellow to brighten it up. With the yellow tee and black denim skirt, I wanted to add a little more colour to avoid looking too bumble-bee like, but I felt this duster wasn't quite as brightening as it could have been. I do like the navy against the yellow tee, but it needed an extra touch of colour, and so I added a third shade of yellow in with this cheerful Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag. It's such a fun accessory!Nice and comfortable for a busy day with the school run and working from home again, as well as helping in my son's classroom in the morning and a couple of errands after I picked the kids up from school in the afternoon.

How You Can Wear It:
Yellow bags are fun pops of colour to add to your outfit. Like any colourful bag, they can still work well even if the shade or shades of yellow in your outfit are different, as you can see here in these outfits.

I really like the doubling up of yellow in these outfits. Yellow is a color I think looks nice when there is more than one shade of it in the outfit - it adds richness to the look somehow. These are great examples!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing "bumblebee" about your outfits, Mica :-) In fact, they are both gorgeous as surely nothing beats a yellow and blue combo. I'm loving the splashes of yellow with the navy! And that bright yellow poncho couldn't have been a better choice for the boys to spot you in the crowd! xxx
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son on getting an award.

ReplyDeleteI'm with you...that yellow and mustard looks fabulous together. Great example of how things don't have to "match" to pair well.
