What I wore:
Dress: Jaase Celine autumn leaves mini dress
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs waxed leather cream howlite beaded wrap bracelet
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5 zip in pink iris with gold hardware
Why I wore it:
This was a big day! I pulled out the prettiest dress to celebrate my kids first day at school! The new school year usually starts in January, but the Queensland school holidays were extended by a couple of weeks so school started in February instead, to try avoid a big Covid wave we were having since they relaxed all the border restrictions. Thankfully my boss was super understanding and let me move my planned leave around so I could still support my kids for their first week at school. So strange having 2 kids in primary school now, they grow up so fast! This dress is one my sister got me for Christmas and while I think it is the perfect party dress I really liked it the first time I wore it and dressed it down with sneakers. So decided to match the blues in the print with my little blue Converse All Star, which were also a Christmas gift from my sister, a couple of years ago! I wasn't sure if this bag would work with the dress - the pink iris colour is a very vivid pink and there's only a subtle blush in the floral print of the dress, but I was pleased to see that they worked together when I tried the bag on. Glad I gave this combination a try.
While the kids were at school I had a very boring day of catching up on errands and my annual eye test. But I did manage to squeeze in a little opshop browse, although I didn't find anything to buy, before school pick up time.
Last worn: Jaase autumn leaves dress, silver family necklace, beaded bracelet, blue Converse, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag.
Other ways to wear: Jaase autumn leaves dress and blue bag, blue Converse and printed jeans, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag and kimono.

What's In My Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5-Zip
What I wore:
Necklace: Tiffany & Co silver 5th Avenue notes heart pendant necklace
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chelsea' printed dressShoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5 zip in pink iris with gold hardware
Why I wore it:
This was actually what I wore a couple days before the day above, for our last summer holiday playdate before school started back. I definitely misjudged the weather on this day though. I was expecting it to be hot and humid but it was actually just hot and windy. Wished I'd worn shorts or jeans with a little more coverage a few times running around the park with the kids. A few of the kids had brought their bikes with them and they were enjoying riding around a bit further than they would normally play. Of course that meant having to follow my boys the way over to the edge of the park to look at the "cool things" they'd found 😅I do love this dress, the navy tile print is so cute, it was just something I found myself grabbing the hem of fairly often when a big gust of wind hit! It's not the first time I've worn a pink bag with this dress either, although I don't have any other pink bags in this particular shade, I really like all kinds of pink with this navy print.
Again I wore my blue Converse All Stars, nice and comfortable for a morning catching up with mum friends and running around with the kids at the playground.
Last worn: navy peasant dress, silver tiffany necklace, blue Converse All Star (above), Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag (above).
Other ways to wear: navy peasant dress with green, blue Converse All Star and striped dress, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag and denim skirt.
Perfect for pregnancy: navy peasant dress in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:
Pink and blue always look good together! As both of these outfits show, any navy printed dress can work well with a cute pink crossbody bag like this Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip.

My son will start school this summer as well, in September, and I can't believe how fast time is going!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for your son! I hope it goes well :)
DeleteOh, I love your new dress! I think it can be worn any day! What a pretty print and I love the flouncy skirt of it.

That is definitely a big day! I am so glad you were able to get all glam (love that dress) and take your kids to school. It is probably a good idea that the schools opened up a little later in the year, just to be extra cautious. I love the second dress, too. You look beautiful!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Yes I'm pleased they waited a little, although so many kids already caught Covid! Hoping we continue to dodge it.
DeleteLove both of your outfits dressed down with Converse-and the pink mini bag is the perfect accent! Sending both of your boys off to primary school is a big step, but I hope you are able to enjoy a wee bit more free time. Have a good week and thanks for hosting the link up!
ReplyDeleteI'm back at work 5 days week now, but I did enjoy the little time I had when I took the week off to help them adjust :)
DeleteKids do grow up fast! It is pretty convenient to have both at the same school, enjoy these years!
ReplyDeleteI am loving all the pretty pinks and blues in your 1st day of school outfit!

So true it's a great combination!
DeleteTwo gorgeous dresses, Mica, and the pop of pink from your bag is just perfect with both of them. I'm having a slight preference for the first dress, with its floral pattern, but I can definitely see the appeal of the tile patterned one too and why you reach for it often. xxx
ReplyDeleteThe first one is my favourite too but they are both great dresses to have in my wardrobe I think!
DeleteWhile I like both of these dresses, the top one is my favorite. Soooo pretty! Your sister has good taste. The wind in a dress - ugh. I’ve made that mistake before too.
ReplyDeleteMichelle,

haha yes it can be unforgiving sometimes the wind!
DeleteYou look great. Especially love the dark color of the first dress. It must be nice to have to kids back in school. Hope they have a great year.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably wise that they pushed back the start of the school year. I know we had lots of people out for Covid in January. It's bounced back since.
ReplyDeleteYes we still see a lot of cases around sadly but it's lower than it was in January.
DeleteI just love those bright blue Converse sneakers with both of the dresses. Especially that first one.
ReplyDeleteI adore that you enjoy dressing up this way.
XOXO

ReplyDeleteHello Mica, so happy to stop by your stie again! I hope you're having a fantastic 2022 so far!
ReplyDeleteI hope all your beloved ones are safe and sound from Covid! I like that this post is all about printed dresses, they seriously match your personality and I like the fact that these options are full of interesting colors that could be mixed with more garments like a denim jacket or a blazer for example. So the first one is definitely the nicest Christmas present.
Take care!
Pablo
Hey Fungi
Thanks Pablo! It was a great Christmas present indeed and I look forward to wearing it a lot of different ways! :) We are safe from Covid for now thankfully :)

I did not know your school year started in January...which makes so much sense. Our school years begin in July or August and end in May or June.

I totally want to wear that whole look (if the weather were warmer here right now!). I love both looks, but the print of that first dress is my favorite.
