Neutral Dresses And Pink Balenciaga City Bag

A sign of how behind I've been with blogging, these are the outfits I wore for the first week back at school at the end of January. Back into the routine with the school run each day called for easy outfits - nothing easier than a neutral dress and a bright pink bag, this Balenciaga sorbet pink city bag really pops against neutral.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

Had a busy day ahead, with some errands after the school drop off so I picked this grey skater dress, it looks so good with pink but surprisingly I've never worn this bag and dress together before. I was so sure I had until I looked back through my blog archives. Despite taking years to wear these two together I really liked the pairing, especially when I added the little magenta necklace too.

Good simple outfit for a hot day with a little running around - we visited the library and got some groceries as well as attempting to return an item to Jeanswest. They don't do returns for sale items any more so I had to exchange instead - luckily my sister had her eye on a dress in store and I could pick that up for her.

Why I wore it:

More matchy-matchy with a pink necklace and pink bag! Working from home and doing the school run called for something really easy - this dress is what my blog friend Sheila would call a "jammy dress" as it's as comfortable as pyjamas, just what I needed for an impossibly long day of meetings. I'd planned to wear this dress as I knew the first week back at school after the summer holidays would be a busy one as we all settled into the routine, dresses are so good for outfits you don't have to think too hard about!

I'd grabbed the Adidas Superstar sneakers to wear without considering the stripes on the dress but looking at the photos I liked the contrasting stripes! Was just another bit of matchy-matchy like the pink accessories really.

Navy, Olive and Mustard Shorts And Tee Outfits: Weekday Wear Link Up!

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up, two summer shorts outfits with the same colour schemes - a little mustard bag with navy and olive. The yellow is a fun pop with the neutral clothes.

Why I wore it:

Wore this for our recent public holiday at the end of January, making the most of the Tuesday off and the great weather to have a picnic in the park. My parents joined us too. We found a shady spot and there was a bit of a breeze so it was a great day despite the heat. We even found a trail we hadn't uncovered in the park before and explored it a little bit before lunch.

Tried to curl my hair but the humidity meant it didn't last long! I thought the mustard floral scarf would be a nice touch in my hair too, and kind of matched the mustard Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag. It's not the first time I've worn this bag with these olive embroidered shorts, it's a combination I really like.

Stuck with practical comfortable shoes as I'd aggravated my knee injury a little the week before and needed the extra support from the New Balance sneakers. I spent a lot of time stretching my knee out  on the picnic bench - especially after our little trail walk!

Last worn: heart earrings, navy tee, turquoise stone necklace, olive embroidered shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan crossbody. First time I've worn the floral scarf as it was a Christmas gift.

Other ways to wearnavy tee worn two ways, olive embroidered shorts and cardigan, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan crossbody and maxi skirt.

Why I wore it:

This was another day out with the kids, so again I went for easy and comfortable shorts. With the public holiday on the Tuesday, hubby took the Monday off (and I always have Mondays off anyway) so we could go to a new park with the kids. I'd heard good reviews about the park and although it was a little smaller than I expected, the boys really enjoyed it. It's got a paved road system laid out with proper traffic signs and even traffic lights so they could have fun riding their bikes around. We didn't quite avoid the rain unfortunately, but thankfully the shower didn't last too long and the kids didn't get too wet so they had a little more riding time before lunch.

I wasn't sure if the embroidered tank would be a bit much with the stripes on these navy culottes, but I'm glad I gave the combination a try for something different! And with the tank being made of viscose and the shorts being linen blend they thankfully dried out quickly after we got caught in the rain.

Will have to wear the Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan with these navy stripe culottes again, they pair so perfectly together!

Other ways to wearolive embroidered tank and jeans, navy stripe culotte shorts and white tee, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan crossbody and little black dress.

How You can Wear It:

Yellow, blue and green are a trio of colours that work so well together, in any shade! I've worn, navy, olive and mustard in these shorts outfits but a brighter blue, green or yellow shade would work equally well.
