Printed Tees, Black Denim Skirts, Sneakers Rebecca Minkoff Unlined Tote

This has definitely been the summer of denim skirts! Once again I'm wearing two of my black denim skirts, with printed tees and my Rebecca Minkoff unlined tote for easy playground outfits with the kids. Much like my denim skirts, this tote bag has been on frequent repeat!

What I wore:

sass bide neon orange leopard print tee with nobody denim skirt sneakers black unlined tote bag | awayfromblue

leopard tee with Rebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware | awayfromtheblue

Necklace: rose gold and turquoise beaded necklace
TeeSass and Bide 'New Day Rising' tee in orange leopard print
SkirtNobody Denim Piper vacation skirt in black distressed denim
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

After a rainy day previously, everything was still a little wet but it was shaping up to be a sunny and dry day so we headed to another bike track for the kids to get some of their energy out. they were even able to have a play in the adjacent playground after as everything dried up quickly.

I absolutely adore this Sass and Bide neon leopard print tee but I wear it so rarely, it definitely should be one I reach for more often. It works so well with denim so I knew it would look nice with this distressed Nobody Denim skirt. With the black denim skirt, black New Balance sneakers and black studded tote bag, I added the turquoise and gold necklace for another little pop of colour and to stop this looking too Halloween-y with the black and orange!

Jacket: Jeanswest Polly kimono in dusty pink (Christmas gift)
Necklace: Kmart rose gold and pink beaded necklace
TeeAtmos&Here navy stripe v-neck tee
Skirt: thrifted Target black stretch denim skirt
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff medium unlined tote in black with shellac studded dome hardware

Why I wore it:

Wearing some old favourites with a new kimono I got for Christmas! This pretty blush pink kimono is going to go with so many outfits. A striped tee and denim skirt is a great outfit on it's own, but I like how the pink kimono added a little extra sun coverage and a bit more colour to this outfit. It is a really nice colour with the navy stripes on the tee and the black denim skirt, which was a December opshop find and just $1!

While the pink and rose gold necklace doesn't match the shade of pink in the kimono exactly I thought it was a nice combination together. And the Adidas Superstar sneakers were comfortable for yet another day at a bike track and playground. Really been enjoying the open spaces of the bike tracks this summer, with all the Covid cases around in Brisbane.

Again I went with my Rebecca Minkoff unlined studded tote bag, it's nice with the black denim skirt and it holds snacks and water bottles for us all so well.

Last worn: navy stripe tee, blush and rose gold necklace, black denim skirt, Adidas Superstar sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff unlined studded tote (above). First time I've worn the kimono as it was a Christmas gift.

Other ways to wearnavy stripe tee and skinny jeans, black denim skirt and orange tee, Adidas Superstar sneakers and shorts, Rebecca Minkoff unlined studded tote and maxi skirt.

Perfect for pregnancynavy stripe tee in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

A tee and denim is a summer style staple! For something a little different you can try a brightly coloured printed tee with denim, like I've worn in the first outfit, or add a little extra colour to a classic stripe tee and denim outfit with a kimono like in the second outfit.

  5. I completely get that - after a few days inside something like a bike track is much needed, otherwise the kids might burst with excess energy.

  14. I love the combination of a denim skirt and a tee. It's almost as much of a classic as pairing a tee with jeans. I hope you have a wonderful weekend :)

  17. You've definitely been making the most of your denim skirts, Mica. And I can't blame you as they must be the most versatile items of clothing ever. Although I'm loving both of your outfits, the first one is truly making my heart sing, with the pops of neon orange and turquoise. And yes, I think you should definitely reach for that tee more often. It's too good to remain in your wardrobe unworn! xxx

  20. You paid $1 for the black denim skirt?! *high five* What a score for a garment that is so useful in your wardrobe, Mica! Just goes to show, you don't have to spend a lot to get a great useful item.

I love LOVE that you wore the neon orange leopard with it, and I love even more that you accessorized with turquoise - I was just telling a coworker to wear blue (any shade!) with orange to avoid the Hallowe'en comments (inevitable!). I also really like these black sneakers with the outfit.

I like that you matched your Adidas (stripes) with your striped tee in the second outfit. Don't know if I'm a fan of this kimono just yet - the colour is nice, but the overall style is a little blah for my taste (I like every item to be a special one, but that's me! lol). Still a solid outfit.

Have a wonderful weekend, my dear friend!

    1. So true - I've been really lucky with the opshop finds lately! Adding blue to orange to avoid the Halloween is such good advice! I think it really worked in this outfit.
Up close the kimono has a beautiful weave and texture on it, it just doesn't shine though in the pics!

  26. I love the first look with the black denim skirt, trainers and a fun top. The outfit with dark blue mini skirt is fabulous as well. I love how the pink kimono matches the necklace and the detail on the bag. A striped tee is always a good idea. You look great in both outfits.
