Dusters With Jeans and Tee Outfits: Green For Spring

Making the most of spring and posing in front of more beautiful jacaranda trees!

I used to be so unsure of how to wear green and didn't have much of it in my wardrobe. I decided to try challenge myself with it a couple of years ago and since then I've been having a lot of fun with green in my wardrobe! It seems like such a nice colour for spring, and I'm wearing it in two different ways in the below jeans, tee and duster outfits.

What I wore:

Jeanswest Delilah Long Line Kimono in Green Floral duster with grey tee skinny jeans | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag in almond with bracelet stack green floral kimono | awayfromtheblue

NecklaceJeanswest Taryn turquoise tassel bead necklace
Tee: thrifted Cotton on grey tunic tee
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
ShoesNovo Tawny rose gold sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag in almond

Why I wore it:

Wore this for church on a day that turned out to be a lot hotter than I anticipated! I felt the jeans were a bit overkill when we walked out of church into the heat of the day in the afternoon. I'd planned the outfit to stay warm in the cold aircon at church, but wished I'd picked shorts for the rest of the day.

Again I'm using this pretty green floral duster kimono to add a little more colour to a monochrome jeans and tee outfit, just like I did here. You've seen me wear this duster a lot recently, I knew I'd get a lot of wear from it when I bought it! I also knew I was going to stop on the way to church to grab a pic with this pretty purple Jacaranda tree so the floral duster seemed fitting!

I thrifted this grey tunic a couple of months ago and it's so soft and comfortable. With the neutral tan Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag I added the bracelets for a little more colour too, I thought they complimented the green kimono nicely.

Why I wore it:

These photos did not turn out as well as the ones above! I'd been excited to take pics in this jacaranda-lined street for a while and finally got the chance when we were heading out to a messy play morning, as we pass this street on the way. Unfortunately the street was quite busy and I couldn't park where I wanted so we had to do a bit of a trek back to the trees and I was a little on edge as I could hear people inside the house at this tree. It was the closest one to our car though so I quickly got Mr 5 to snap a few photos and then rushed back to the car and away so we didn't disturb the home owners anymore. Didn't end up with the best photos but I did like the outfit!

If I only shared the outfits or the photos I loved on this blog I'd never have anything to post! Don't get me wrong, sometimes, like in the first outfit, the outfit and pics turn out brilliantly. But sometimes the outfit doesn't come together like I planned or the photos are overly dark and blurry. I'd rather share the good and the bad though, it's a personal style blog and what I wear each day, not a perfectly composed fashion blog.

Again this was a simple jeans and tee outfit, this time around the colour was from the bright green skinny jeans, and I used the striped duster to add some extra print to my outfit. I liked how the green jeans and bag went together too. I wanted things that were all easily washable as the messy play morning can get a bit messy sometimes, ha! Thankfully I stayed clean and dry, while the boys needed a little change of clothes when they got home. They had such a fun morning though, messy play is always a hit.

Last worn: striped duster, navy necklace, slouchy grey tee, green skinny jeans, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag.

Other ways to wearstriped duster for long haul flight, slouchy grey tee over a dress, green skinny jeans with navy, green Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag with monochrome outfit.

Perfect for pregnancystriped duster in second trimester, slouchy grey tee in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Jeans and a tee is a mum staple! For something a little different, try adding a bit of colour of print with a duster. It's a nice light layer on a warm spring day. You could even swap out your classic black or blue jeans for a brighter pair like I have in the second outfit if you're feeling particularly colourful.

  5. That duster is really such a great buy, Mica:) What a great versatile piece for sure! And yeah....I totally agree with you about posting the good and the bad outfits. Most of the time, the outfits I wear are what people consider a "miss", but I post outfits I actually DO WEAR and not just pose in, and that will never be perfect.

  25. I always love your photos, Mica! We've been blogging for ages now and somehow the "perfectly composed fashion blogs" have lost most of this genuine feeling of reality and to me, I love seeing blogs like your where you can actually see what the person truly wears everyday without a constant need of editorial-esque photography. Love how green suits you, btw!! <3
