Weekday Wear Linkup! Printed A-line Skirts and Plain Tees With Marc Jacobs Fran Bag

Another Weekday Wear linkup, and trying something different with my workwear, getting out these pretty printed skirts I haven't worn in a while! While continuing to wear plain tees, a theme that has been a frequent choice on the blog lately 😂

What I wore:

mustard pleated print a-line skirt white tee jersey blazer business casual autumn | awayfromblue

mustard pleated skirt Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Carob brown fran bag | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue instagram | business casual autumn office printed pleated a-line skirt jersey blazer outfit
Jacketthrifted Zara black blazer
Earrings: gold pendant chandelier earrings
Necklace: Lovisa mixed texture beaded necklace
TeeAtmos & Here white essential v-neck tee
Skirt: Garfunkle Australia pleated print skirt
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

This outfit got a lot of love on Instagram and in the office - I don't know why I don't wear this skirt more often! It makes me smile when I wear it and it's great just-below the knee length so it works in the office. I do try pair it with plain tops to let the skirt be the focus of the outfit.

Usually I'll go for black tops with it, but decided to try this white tee with it. Added the blazer on top as it was a little cooler in the morning, and so it dressed up the plain v-neck white tee a little more for the office. When you're having a meeting surrounded by people wearing jeans though it's not really a necessity at my workplace, I just like to try make the outfit a little more formal.

This Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag has been worn with this skirt in the past, but the necklace is new, one of the ones I got from Christmas I just hadn't worn yet. I think this plain tee was the perfect backdrop for it. I really liked this outfit.

Last worn: black jersey blazer, gold earringswhite v-neck tee, mustard printed pleated skirt, black ballet flats, Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran bag. First time I've worn the necklace.

Other ways to wearblack jersey blazer and jeans, white v-neck tee and floral kimono, mustard printed pleated skirt and graphic tee, black ballet flats and LBD, Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran bag in capsule wardrobe.

Perfect for pregnancyblack jersey blazer in third trimester, mustard printed pleated skirt in second trimester, black ballet flats in second trimester, Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran bag at 40 weeks.

What's In My Bag: Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran

BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

Another new accessory! These mini tassel earrings were another Christmas gift, I thought they went quite nicely with the autumnal colours on the silk skirt. Again, I stuck with the outfit formula I loved so much above. A pretty printed skirt, a plain v-neck tee in black this time and a grey jersey blazer.

The blazer wasn't really needed. We had a big meeting in the afternoon which took up almost half the day, but it was an internal one so I didn't need to dress up for clients!

Felt quite warm that day so didn't wear the blazer much in the office anyway.

Last worn: grey jersey blazer, black v-neck tee, pendant necklace, leaf print silk skirt, Marc Jacobs mouse flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag (above). First time I've worn the earrings.

Other ways to weargrey jersey blazer and lace skirt, black v-neck tee and olive jeans, leaf print silk skirt with teal, Marc Jacobs mouse flats and wrap dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag and burgundy pants.

Perfect for pregnancyleaf print silk skirt in second trimester, Marc Jacobs mouse flats in second trimester, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag in third trimester.

Printed A-Line Skirts Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A pretty a-line printed skirt in a modest knee length is a nice alternative to a pencil skirt for office wear, while still fitting in with business casual dress codes. If you are worried it might look a little too casual, you can always add a blazer on top to look more formal for impromptu last minute meetings.

  5. What a great work look! This is something that I would have definitely worn when I taught. Been trying to wear more of my skirts. Will go thrifting this week and try to find some that will add interest to my collection: most of mine are maxi skirts.

  9. Both outfits are pretty Mica and perfect for the office. I do love the lighter colors on the first skirt. I feel like it stands out more. I am also not good at pattern mixing so I tend to wear simple top with printed bottoms, I hope you had a great weekend and happy Monday!

  15. What beautiful skirts! I love printed pieces because they’re so versatile! You can pull out any color in the piece to match; I love that you chose white this time around with the first skirt. I love that you can also add in a color that’s not in the pattern or add another pattern to the look for a more funkier spin. Again, such beautiful pieces! I hope you have a great week ahead!
