Printed Maxi Skirts and Colourful Tops, Jeanswest Sale

First up, Jeanswest have a 30% off sale online right now. It includes everything, even all their new spring stock, which I love as it features blue pretty heavily! If you're looking for a pretty update to your wardrobe, check out the sale.

It's only for a limited time, so if you've got your eye on anything I suggest snapping it up quickly! The sale includes menswear too if you're looking for a little last minute something for Father's Day this weekend.

As for what I've been wearing, more maxi skirt outfits! They really are the best option for keeping me warm and still allowing me to wear my knee brace. Which I'm hopeful I'll be able to go without soon. I'm making great progress with the physio working up to getting the full range of movement in my knee again.

What I wore:

blue marle knit jumper navy white stripe maxi skirt LV neverfull bag

Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull
Jumper: thrifted Valleygirl blue knit jumper
SkirtAT by Atmos&Here Mars striped maxi skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

No jacket! It's officially spring, and this was taken in the last weeks of winter. I'm trying to make an effort to get a last wear out of some of my winter pieces before they are packed away. I did think about wearing a scarf with this also, and in the early morning it would have come in useful, but defintely wasn't needed in the heat of the day - I ended up rolling up the sleeves from the jumper as it heated up.

I was just working from home with a short break in the afternoon to go get a scan and find out how much damage I'd done to my knee. I'd thought of wearing this skirt as it as the slit up the side, for easy knee access, but the slit is on the other side! I ended up wearing it anyway. It was easy enough to roll up to let the lady look at my knee.

Last worn: blue jumper, striped maxi skirt, studded mouse flats, Louis Vuitton neverfull.

Other ways to wearblue jumper in the office, striped maxi skirt in summer, mouse flats and print mixing, Louis Vuitton neverfull with shorts.

More printed maxi skirts under $30:

What I wore:

TeeZalora Basics maroon stepped t-shirt
Skirt: Izabel London Aztec print maxi skirt (C/O)
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
BagRebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

Why I wore it:

I felt amazing in this outfit, even if it does look a little odd in the photo. Should have tucked the tee in, so it didn't overwhelm my frame and make my already short legs look really stumpy! I had looked in the mirror that morning and decided it looked okay to leave it loose, a nice relaxed outfit for playgroup with the toddler.

I got this tee and skirt around the same time, so I'd been wanting to wear them together for a while. While it's not the best photo, and seeing it made me wish I'd tucked the top in, I enjoyed wearing it.

Corporate Style: Trench Coat, Camel Flats and Blue Tops

More office wear, with a very unimaginative repeat of the trench coat and ballet flats combination. Definitely a necessity for both days in the office though!

What I wore:

Tan accessories cobalt blue printed shirt burgundy pants office wear

Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete with burgundy pants
Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
ScarfAlexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarf
Shirt: Target blue abstract floral print shirt
PantsJeanswest 'Fiona' skinny leg pant in shiraz
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

Why I wore it:

This is the outfit I wore when I was involved in a little incident on the way to work and smashed my knee. I had considered wearing heels that day, as I felt I hadn't worn them in a while, but decided at the last moment before I went out the door to wear flats instead. I'm so glad I did as it was hard enough trying to hobble around the office in these flats, I couldn't imagine what it would have been like if I was wearing heels. The one good point to a not-so-good day!

I bought this shirt back when I was doing #noBuyJuly15, it was my only purchase that month but I still failed the challenge.

As it's the second time I've worn it, my purchase review: I reasoned that this top was such a bargain ($10) and would be perfect for office wear and SAHM wear so I'd be crazy not to buy it. I haven't worn it outside of the office yet, but I'm glad I got to wear it with these pants as it was one of the outfits I had in mind when I bought it. I'm really happy with this, and I have lots of ideas for more ways to wear it still.

Last worn: trench coat, skull print scarf, blue print shirt, burgundy pants, camel flats, Balenciaga tempete day.

Other ways to weartrench and a printed dress, skull scarf and a navy dress, printed shirt and a pencil skirtburgundy pants on the weekend, camel flats and gold jeans, Balenciaga tempete day and a maxi skirt.

What I wore:

Stargazer print scarf blue jumper grey jersey pencil skirt office wear knee injury

Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull
Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
ScarfMarc by Marc Jacobs Stargazer scarf in aquamarine (on sale, and also on sale in black!)
Jumper: thrifted blue Mossman knit jumper
SkirtAtmos&Here grey marle jersey pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

Again with the same trench and flats! And bare legs. It wasn't actually warm enough for bare legs, I just can't wear tights over the compression bandage on my knee. I knew I wanted to be warm to try cancel out the bare legs, so a long and cosy trench, a thick jumper, scarf and a couple layers under the jumper helped a little bit.

Picked the same flats as the last time I went into the office as they were so comfortable and easy to walk in, felt like a good repeat choice.

Last worn: trench coat (above), stargazer scarf, blue knit, jersey pencil skirt, Marc Jacobs flats (above), Louis Vuitton neverfull.

Other ways to weartrench coat and heels, stargazer scarf with a polka dot dress, blue jumper and teal dress, pencil skirt in summer, camel flats and a printed dress, LV neverfull and a printed dress.

Statement Skinny Jeans - Metallic Gold and Bright Red, Louis Vuitton Damier Handbags

The last two of my Fox in Flats Style Dare outfits for May, two outfits that I really liked. I got to wear some of my brighter, more statement denim. I have a few stand-out pieces in my denim collection, it's good to have something different to step away from the blue denim now and then when jeans are the best outfit choice.

What I wore:

jacquard blazer sass and bide gold metallic skinny jeans burgundy tee

Away From Blue blog picnic bag Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull
NecklaceRoie Designs feather, quartz and love charm long necklace
TeeAtmos&Here rolled sleeve oversized tee in wine
JeansSass and Bide 'Three Words' metallic gold jeans
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was 'pure gold' so I knew I would be wearing these metallic jeans. They really make a lot more of a statement than normal blue denim, but being jeans they are just as easy to wear! I didn't have a need for anything overly dressed up, so I just wore them with a baggy tee. I needed something to keep my warms warm so decided on this jacket as it has the metallic thread running through it.

It was our wedding anniversary, so to celebrate we had a little picnic in the park and then took baby T to feed the ducks for the first time. It was a little tricky trying to get him to stop eating the bread though, even after his lunch! I thought the neverfull was the perfect picnic bag - easy to throw things in and get things out of as we sat on the grass. It was even warm enough for me to take my jacket off for a little while in the sun.

Last wornjacquard blazer, burgundy tee, metallic gold skinny jeans, tan MbMJ flats, Louis Vuitton neverfull.

Other ways to wear: jacquard blazer with a printed dress for the office, burgundy tee with a maxi skirtgold jeans in spring, tan flats with a printed dress, LV neverfull with casual summer shorts outfits.

What I wore:

Jeans: Emerson red skinny jeans
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs waxed leather cream howlite beaded wrap bracelet
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

The last Fox in Flats Style Dare for May! I've been so behind with blogging it, and not just because I put it on hold to share some of the June dress week challenge pictures first. Only blogging 6 outfits a week means I quickly fall behind in posting if a style challenge means I have to get dressed every day of the week. (Although baby T is older I still like to have a few PJ days at home now and then, and some mornings are so hectic it's good to know I don't have to get outfit photos if I run out of time!)

The challenge for the day was 'nailed it' so I wanted to wear my favourite winter nail polish, OPI's Russian Navy. I had planned to just do my nails, but I had some last minute things to buy for baby T's birthday party so had to get dressed anyway! Used the opportunity to wear these red jeans that I'd been wanting to wear for a while but couldn't fit into a challenge prompt, and a bit of print mixing with the cardigan and cami.

Wearing Havaianas in winter because they are comfortable (and I'm a Queenslander!) and we were just running around the shops in the morning so I was indoors most of the time. I've worn Havaianas and sandals in winter before - as much as I like winter boots I don't like hiding my feet away for 3 months of the year! I'll have another excuse to wear sandals again soon, I've ordered a pair of Ikwetta sandals. I'll be receiving them C/O, so that I can post a review about them. Blogger perks! I wanted to talk about the brand a little before the sandals arrive for two reasons.

First, they are a company doing great thing. They have a kickstarter that I highly encourage you to donate to if you can. The proceeds from their kickstarter will go to build a workshop for their artisans. They have partnered with local people in Kenya who live in slums and make beautiful designs to sell to passing tourists, often only making $1 profit for 4 hours of work. With Ikwetta, they will have a state of the art workshop, high quality tools and environment, and they will be fairly compensated for their hardwork making intricate designs. They want to make a difference in the lives of the talented artisans making beautiful accessories.

And secondly, and rather selfishly, I'm telling you about them as when Sheeni emailed me about a collaboration, it showed that she had actually read my blog and took the time to express her thoughts on it, before explaining how she wanted help to end poverty for the artisans she had struck up a relationship with. I don't have a huge blog so I'm not getting emails every day, but I get a few emails a week from people wanting to collaborate and it's refreshing seeing one from someone who put some effort into their pitch, and that also wants to do some good in the world.

I hope you will check out their kickstarter, even if you can't donate at the moment. It ends 6th July. The products you get from some of the pledges would make great gifts too!

Last worn: brown marle cardi, printed cami, red skinny jeans, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.

Other ways to wear: waterfall cardi with a maxi dress, printed cami in summer, red skinny jeans in a similar outfit without the cardi, speedy bandouliere with a dress.

Corporate Style: Pencil Skirts and a Bit of Blue

Sharing more of my office wear. The return to work has been tricky, but baby T and I are handling it well I think. From an outfit perspective, I've been enjoying wearing my pencil skirts and 'dressing up' in corporate wear for a change.

Here's what I wore to work:
stripe shirt blue lace pencil skirt nude heels LV neverfull bag Office Style Brisbane Business Casual

Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull Blue outfit JORD fieldcrest wood watch
NecklaceDogeared 3 Wishes stardust bead necklace layered with Chanel necklace
Shirt: Target mint stripe shirt

Shoes: Wittner 'Lumen' heel in patent leather
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

A lot has changed since I was away on maternity leave, and the team I'm working with day to day has changed quite a bit. I'm still doing the same role as I was before, just working with different people. There was a big department meeting where everyone from all our locations got together and the newbies and myself had the chance to introduce ourselves to over 100 people. I've mentioned it before on the blog, but public speaking is one of my great fears. I've done a few things to try and get over it (like recording youtube videos to get used to speaking to an 'audience', and taking part in a presentation skills group), but I don't think I'll never get rid of those nerves entirely.

As I was incredibly nervous, I dressed in my comfort colour - blue! This blue lace pencil skirt has to be one of my favourites, it always gets compliments on the blog and instagram too, the best sale buy. I've linked up some similar ones below. I thought the striped shirt worked nicely with it, you can't really see the stripes unless you're up-close, but stripes are always good for pattern mixing anyway. I felt as comfortable and confident as you can be when presenting I guess.

I went with heels for that extra confidence boost, and I picked these nude patent ones as I don't remember them being the most comfortable last time I wore them. I was expecting this to be their last wear, but I was really happy in them through the day so they are staying in my wardrobe. I need to ease myself back into wearing heels with my dodgy knee! They will never be as comfortable as flats of course!

Last worn: striped shirt, blue lace pencil skirt, nude patent heelsLouis Vuitton Neverfull.

Other ways to wear: shopping with a Neverfull, casual pencil skirt outfit, hiding a second trimester baby bump with a button down shirt.

Here's what I wore to work:

I put this outfit together around the red flats. I was inspired by something Audrey posted about how to wear bright shoes, and realised I don't really wear these red flats a lot, considering how comfortable they are. I've worn the top and the shoes together before, (even with the same skirt!!) but not with a red necklace. One of Audrey's ideas was to wear a necklace and shoes that compliment or contrast a colourful top. Although I don't like the way the necklace looks with the neckline on the top, I was happy with the outfit overall. And very comfortable not wearing heels all day, hehe!

Dressing Up Denim Shorts - Casual Summer Outfits with a Hat and Headscarf

Two more #JaNEWary style challenge outfits and two different ways to dress up denim shorts. I'm still enjoying being a stay at home mum a little longer before I return to work, so I'm always dressing for comfort first. I'm trying to put a little more effort into what I wear and be a little dressed up now and then, so I don't fall into a rut of the same outfits over and over.

In the winter, I was looking for ways to try dress up my jeans, now in summer I'm looking for ways to dress up shorts. Just like before, I find accessorising is the best way to do that. And it's easy to do, just add a little something before I step out the door. Denim is a great option for life with baby, but it's good to be able to dress it up now and then.

It's the Australia day long weekend, don't forget to take advantage of all of the extra sales and discounts in between your celebrations :)

Here's what I wore to spend the day by the sea:
printed headscarf peplum tank denim shorts LV neverfull beach outfit
Scarf: gifted Paris print silk scarf
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
SingletZalora basics ruffle hem tank in black (on sale!)
ShortsJeanswest black denim cuff shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

The style challenge for the day was to 'wear black'. Which was not my first choice for a sunny day, I'll be honest! Kept cool with denim shorts and a sleeveless tank. I like the ruffle detail on this tank, and it was nice and loose for a hot day.

My new scarf fit the challenge theme too. My mum bought it for me in Paris, it's beautiful. I thought wearing the scarf in my hair added a nice bit of interest to the outfit and dressed it up a little. Unlike the last time I wore a scarf in my hair, it wasn't tugged on too much by baby T which was good. We took a road trip up the coast, and had lunch by the sea followed by a bit of shopping. Baby T even had time for a paddle in the waves.

Last worn: peplum tank, denim shorts, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton Neverfull. First time I've worn the scarf.

Here's what I wore to spend the day at Southbank with my family:
casual summer outfit denim shorts button down tank floral print shirt LV NF
Hat: Big W bow detail sunhat
ShirtRiver Island floral print sleeveless shirt
ShortsJeanswest denim cuff shorts
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

When I wore this, the style challenge was 'try something different with your makeup'. I am not a beauty guru at all. I have the products I use, and just one of each of them. While I was younger I'd have a few different eyeshadows and lippies, but it's never really been something I've been as interested in as I am in clothes or accessories. Over the years, I've downsized to my staple products and so my options are makeup on, or makeup off! I spent the day without any makeup, and hid it under a big hat.

I like how the hat worked with this outfit. I'm not a hat person, but being out so often during the day lately I am loving hats just for the sun protection aspect! The nice wide brim helps keep baby T shaded a little when I baby wear too. Plus a bad hair day is really easy to hide....I might be converting to being a hat person!

Wore this out for a day at Southbank with my grandparents and family, and felt appropriately dressed up enough for a lunch at the restaurants nearby. It helps that the sleeveless shirt has a few sequins woven in too. Isn't it pretty? Another cute piece my mum brought back from Europe for me.

Last worn: sun hat, denim shorts, leather sandals, Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag (see above). First time I've worn the shirt.

Blue! Printed Maxi Dress, Lace Pencil Skirt and Teething Necklaces

Two more outfits as I continue on with the 'JaNEWary' style challenge. Both of these outfits fit the prompt for the day, but neither were what I would have worn if I wasn't playing along with the challenge. It's good to wear more of my wardrobe and avoid falling into a style rut though, that's one of the benefits of following along with a monthly challenge.

Here's what I wore to go out with family:
Blue and Purple lace & LV neverfull casual pencil skirt outfit
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
NecklaceNibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
TankJeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Royal Lilac purple
SkirtAsos blue textured lace pencil skirt
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes pink clic clac
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

The style challenge for the day was to 'wear something outside your comfort zone'. I don't really own anything I'm uncomfortable in, if I do have it in my wardrobe I usually make the decision to get rid of it when I next wear it. I thought that wearing a pencil skirt casually would be a good thing for me to try again. I've tried a few times on the blog to wear a pencil skirt outside of the office, but I always feel I can't dress them down enough.

Wore this pretty lace pencil skirt with a simple tank and baby T's teething necklace. The last time I wore this pencil skirt was to the office - when I was in the third trimester!

Even though the pencil skirt has an elasticated waist and is really stretchy and comfortable to wear, I wasn't entirely comfortable in this outfit. The longer length of the pencil skirt came in tricky with picking baby up and putting him down a lot. Also felt very overdressed for going out with our families to pick up the photos from the photo shoot we had a few weeks back. I couldn't help thinking that with a blazer or cardi over the top, I'd wear this to work! Maybe the problem is that my office is so casual to begin with. Was definitely an outfit outside of my comfort zone, I much prefer pencil skirts for the office.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarerspurple tank, lace pencil skirt, Asos sandals, Louis Vuitton damier ebene neverfull.

Here's what I wore to have lunch with my family today:
Jeanswest Chantelle Printed Maxi Dress petite blogger Rebecca Minkoff Love bag
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Wilma necklace in pale daffodil (new purchase)
DressJeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress (on sale!)
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus gifted blue and silver bracelet stack
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

This was one of the days I wished I wasn't doing the style challenge, as I had wanted to wear a different dress. The challenge was 'wear a colour that enhances your eyes', so I went with this blue maxi dress and not the other dress I had been thinking of wearing. This dress is lovely and a wardrobe favourite, I love the back lace detail on it, but it's just not what I would have worn if I didn't have the challenge telling me to wear blue.

Still a pretty dress, and appropriate to wear for a lunch with family. My family had planned a big surprise...my grandparents had flown in! So many people had been keeping it a secret for me to have an amazing surprise. It was incredible to see them again and have them meet baby T. I haven't seen them for a very long time, it is wonderful having them here. I'd worn my new teething necklace in anticipation of having to keep baby T amused during lunch, but hardly had to use it at all as he was getting so much love and attention from everyone, we rotated him around so everyone could eat!

Spring Dresses and Converse Chucks

Wearing dresses and Converse again. I am terribly predictable lately ;) I am trying to wear more of what I own, but there are a few favourite pieces and combinations I just can't help repeating over and over.

Here's what I wore to have lunch with my mum:
Atmos&Here Willow Tee Dress Chucks Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
DressAtmos & Here Willow printed tee dress
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Yes, I'm wearing that tee dress again. I love it! Wore it out to have lunch with my mum and baby T. Picked the converse Chucks to keep it casual, and a nice big bag to carry everything in. I've worn the dress with boots before every time I've worn it, but it looks great with the Converse too I think.

Safe to say that this dress is my favourite spring piece - I've worn it once a week since I got it! I'd wear it more often, but with baby I only manage to get around to ironing about once a week. I really do wear it as soon as it's washed and ironed! I hope you don't get bored seeing it pop up on the blog so often.

Last worn: Ray Banfloral print tee dress, Converse, Louis Vuitton Neverfull.

Here's what I wore to go shopping with my sister:
Asos grey colour block skater dress belted Converse Chucks
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
DressAsos grey skater dress (on sale!)
BeltAsos skinny pale yellow belt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

I had to run a quick errand in the morning, so was rushing around getting baby T and myself ready. Went for a dress again for simplicity - and decided to try belt it this time so I'd be at least a little different from the last time I wore the dress and Chucks together. Wasn't sure about the belt through the day though, I think I prefer the dress without a belt. Ended up getting a call from my sister who had the day off, so we arranged to catch up a little later and go shopping. Meant I had a nice leisurely morning and could put the errand off till later.

Every time I pass this spot with the pretty yellow flowers all over the ground I think I should try get a blog photo there. It reminds me of all the lovely autumn yellow and orange leaf pictures the northern hemisphere bloggers are sharing. Since I had more time in the morning than expected, I decided to take the tripod along with the stroller when I walked Cooper. Didn't quite turn out as nicely as I wanted - it's a lot to juggle, a tripod, a dog and a baby in a stroller! But it's nice to try get a different spot for photos. Even if I'm not changing up my outfits, I can change the spots I stand in when I get the photos, right? haha.

Kameleonz Bali Sunglasses and Discount Code | Evening at Wintergarden Brisbane

I'm blogging less regularly as life revolves around baby T. I still have photos from last week to post, as nap times have been a little shorter than I'd like! First though, I wanted to share a couple of outfits from this week as they include an exclusive promo code and a little information about the late-night shopping trip I shared on instagram.

Here's what I wore to take advantage of Brisbane's "winter heat wave":
Aussie blogger chambray shirt dress converse louis vuitton neverfull printed scarf
Sunglasses: Bali sunglasses C/O Kameleonz
ScarfMarc by Marc Jacobs scarf in Island pine-print
Dress: Ezra chambray shift dress (on sale!, new purchase)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

One benefit of being home with baby and not commuting means that I get to avoid the cold early morning starts and take advantage of the almost summer-like warmer winter afternoons. It was the perfect chance to wear my new chambray dress and go bare-legged. I'm wearing new sunglasses too, thanks to Kim from Kameleonz Shades. She extended a little treat for all my readers - 20% discount at Kameleonz with the code 'MICA'!

I chose to get the 'Bali' shades. They are polarised and have UV 400 protection. Now that I'm driving a lot more, polarised sunglasses are really helpful, and I couldn't resist the awesome bluey-green metallic lenses on the Bali. Like all of the Kameleonz range, the sunnies come with interchangeable side arms, so you can mix and match depending on what you're wearing. Such a great idea! I'm wearing the teal, but the Bali glasses also come with green and black arms too that you can see in the picture above.

They are really affordable for what is essentially 3 different sunglasses, but an extra discount always helps. Whether you need them for the US summer or sunny Australian winter, you can still use the discount code as they ship internationally. I can confirm shipping to Australia is really quick too!

Last worn: printed scarf, white Converse, Louis Vuitton Neverfull. First time I've worn the dress and sunnies.

Here's what I wore to go out for the evening:
winter stripe tee dress tights ankle boots leather jackets blue skull scarf
JacketAsos Black by Markus Lupfer printed leather jacket
ScarfAlexander McQueen skull scarf in light blue
Dress: Atmos&Here navy stripe tee dress (on sale!, new purchase)
ShoesAsos Aggie leather western ankle boots in black
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Earlier this week I had the chance to get dressed up a bit and head out to Brisbane Wintergarden for a special event. My first evening out since baby T arrived! Was a little sad to be missing bath time, but it was a fun night.

Wanted to be comfortable and warm as it gets quite cool in the winter evenings, and I wanted to wear my new striped dress. The leather jacket, scarf and ankle boots kept me cosy, and I added the bright handbag to stop the outfit being too blue.

At Wintergarden we were treated to champagne, nibblies, and the chance to shop and hear more about the latest fashions coming into the centre. I shared some photos on instagram. We stopped at Seed Heritage, Coach, Mecca Maxima, MJ Bale and Designer Archives.
At Seed Heritage we got to see the new Seed Collection that's coming into stores in August. If you love luxe fabrics you should check it out, so many nice pieces. When we got to shop I did get a little distracted by the baby section and splurged on baby T, but I picked myself up a cute scarf too.  I volunteered for a demonstration at Mecca and got a mini-makeover in the form of cat eye makeup. Not a look I'd have tried myself, so it was really fun to sport it for an evening.
The Coach store was another highlight, we got to hear more about the new direction the brand is going in design-wise, and the new collection that is launching on the 15th September. Worth saving for! Also had the chance to fall in love with the Smythe bag, it's really pretty!

It was my first blogger event, and I really enjoyed it, despite missing baby T a bit. Even had the chance to meet another Brissy blogger, Pip from Outside is Colours. She has such a flair for fashion, check out her instagram!

Last worn: printed leather jacket, skull scarf, Asos ankle boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita. First time I've worn the dress.

Winter Wear and Post-Baby Swimwear Buying Tips

Baby T has arrived, and I'm blogging less regularly as life revolves around a newborn. I don't manage to get out of pyjamas every day, we are still in the early stages!

Here's what I wore to run some errands:
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
JacketAsos Black by Markus Lupfer printed leather jacket
ScarfAlexander McQueen skull scarf in light blue (currently on sale!)
Tee: Glassons long sleeve top black and white stripe
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Wearing this skull scarf with stripes again! I like the combination of black and blue too. Looking for easy outfit options I can put together quickly. Stripes, maxi skirt, converse and a cute scarf is a helpful formula when I'm not sure what to wear.

We called in our always eager family to baby sit while DH and I ran around trying to complete some errands one particularly cold early morning. Very grateful for family being able to help us. It's easy to do all of the required running around for documentation and things when we know baby T is content at home rather than being exposed to a bunch of strange places and people when he's so young. It's flu season so we are trying to keep him home as much as possible.

Last worn: Ray-Bans, leather jacket, skull scarf, striped top, maxi skirt, Converse, Louis Vuitton Neverfull.

Here's what I wore to spend some time by the pool:
Sunnies: Orange sunglasses from Paddy's Market in Sydney
Swimwear: Sugar Smash single strap one piece c/o Funkita
Sarong: black floral print sarong from my sister's travels
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual

The lovely Chris from Funkita emailed me to let me know about the latest collection 'Swim this City' and ask if I wanted a suit. I'm a big Funkita fan, so of course I said yes! Will be wearing this frequently when I get back to my usual routines and can go swimming again. Although it is winter and our pool is outdoors, it's in the sun most of the day and it can get up to 25 degrees (Celsius) in the middle of the day here in Queensland. Good enough weather for a dip. Sadly I couldn't actually wear this to swim today as I still don't have clearance from my doctor to get back in the water after birth yet - this was taken when baby was a month old.

I don't often share my exercise or swimwear on the blog, but for a change I thought I'd use the opportunity to share some post-baby swimwear tips, and happily show that it takes a while for your body to bounce back after pregnancy. I've been getting some comments about how quickly I lost the baby weight. I haven't lost all the baby weight - it will take a while to do so, and I'm in no rush. I still have a noticeable bump, I'm just dressing it differently. Dressing for a post-baby body, you want to hide your belly rather than draw attention to it like you do when you're pregnant. It's also tricky to know what size you will be in things as so many aspects of your body have changed!

I might not look as good as the athletes who wear Funkita swimwear when they compete, but with the tips below I feel comfortable and confident enough to share swimsuit photos on the internet 4 weeks after giving birth. :)

Some tips to find good swimwear for exercising post-baby:

  • Buy from a brand you have experience with or that has a good size chart to ensure a proper fit. I've got multiple pieces from Funkita, and the sizing chart is really easy for me to follow. I even sized up to get a piece that I could wear during pregnancy, and it fitted well. My pre-pregnancy bikinis still don't fit yet, so paying attention to measurements is important.
  • Go for a bold print. I love the print on this suit. It is form fitting but the colourful print is really helpful at disguising the tummy. Black would be flattering too, but I think a print is better than a block colour. My stomach looks much smaller with the printed suit on than without.
  • Try a one-piece. I'm definitely a bikini girl, all my other swimwear consists of bikinis so this is the first one-piece I've worn for a long time. Not only are they really popular at the moment, having the fabric covering my post-baby belly makes me feel more comfortable. I'm still getting used to the way my belly looks, it's helpful to have it covered up so I don't get self-conscious!
  • A sarong is a wonderful cover-up when you're not in the water, and a chance to do a bit of print-mixing to further draw the eye away from the belly too!

Hope that you found the tips helpful, or know someone who might. It was fun sharing my pregnancy outfits on the blog, and I'm enjoying continuing to share what I wear and my thoughts now about life with baby T.
