Here's what I wore for New Year's Eve:
Scarf: old white and silver sequin scarf
Tank: Atmos&Here 'Florida' tank in Aztec print
Skirt: Jeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga classic double tour bracelet in pearly grey
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey
I had a quiet New Years eve, even more quiet than usual. I may have fallen asleep before welcoming in the new year...
Although I didn't have any plans for the new year, the style challenge for the day was to wear something that sparkles, so I wore this old sequin scarf. I've had it for years, it's survived every wardrobe clear out! I still remember the day I bought it, after seeing a pic of someone wearing one and wanting to recreate it. So I dragged my friends round every store that might have one. I originally passed up on this one as it wasn't exactly what I was after, but went back at the end of the day to get it after realising it was the cheapest, haha. My friends were not amused. I don't even remember wearing it after spending a day hunting for it! I'm sure I wore it once or twice though. Wanted to wear my new printed tank too that I bought in December, and thought it was nice with the maxi skirt.
If it wasn't for the challenge I don't think I'd have paired the printed top and sequin scarf together on my own, but it was nice to wear something a little different. Ended up taking the scarf off later in the afternoon as baby T thought it was a shiny toy for him to play with, especially when the sun caught it as I was outside. After a few too many tugs I decided I was better off not wearing it!
Last worn: black maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag. First time I've worn the scarf on the blog, and first time I've worn the tank as it's a new purchase.
Here's what I wore on New Year's Day:
Sunnies: Rayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
Skirt: Asos colour block maxi skirt in red (on sale!)
Shoes: Asos 'five star' leather sandals
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)
Wore this to go to a BBQ lunch to welcome in the new year. A very colourful outfit featuring another of my December purchases, this cute little ruffle cami. Thought it would look nice paired with the colourful maxi skirt. After putting it on I wasn't too sure when I glanced in the mirror, but decided to wear it anyway as I didn't have time to come up with a different outfit idea. It seemed to go down well on instagram so it was a winner in the end. Like the above though, not an outfit I'd repeat again.
After finishing the Fox in Flats DAREcember style challenge, I was looking forward to making my own mind up for what to wear each day in January. The style challenges are fun, but they can be tricky when I have to come up with an outfit that meets the theme and is suitable for spending the day with baby T, sometimes it requires a bit of forward outfit planning! When I saw the JaNEWary style challenge for January I thought I'd skip it at first. In the end, I decided to play along with the challenge, as I knew I'd probably get stuck for outfit ideas half-way through January anyway, haha! So as well as being my first outfit of 2015, it's my first January style challenge outfit, for 'splash of colour', with a whole lot of colour.
Last worn: Wayfarers, colour block maxi skirt, Asos sandals, Louis Vuitton Speedy B. First time I've worn the cami on the blog as it's a recent purchase.

Very festive. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThe ruffle cami top is adorable! I am surprised baby T did not want to tug on those instead lol. Whenever you wear colours I always give you extra applause! Starting off the New Year with hues is the best <3
ReplyDeleteWhen I wore the cami I wore the necklace too so he played with that instead :)
DeleteSometimes I do the same thing-- spend so much time finding an item but then rarely end up wearing it. Oh well. At least it came in handy for your NYE outfit :) I love the dress you wore to the bbq, it makes me wish it were summer!

I love the floral cami! That flutter details adds so much character to this outfit. And not to forget gorgeous colorblocked maxi skirt! You wear maxi's like no one I have ever seen. I have seldom taken style challenges but when I do, boy is it really a challenge and fun!
ReplyDeleteI think the style challenges are definitely challenging haha! But a nice way to think differently about my wardrobe :)
DeleteI don't know why you won't repeat them because both of these outfits are phenomenal:)
ReplyDeleteI love maxis....can't wait to wear them again in spring and summer...styling them in winter is hard:) I still haven't managed to do that and be happy with the result.

I have worn maxi skirts and dresses in winter a few times, but we do have very mild winters here, I don't have to contend with snow!
DeleteI love both those little cami tanks! The prints and colours are awesome! I also think the second outfit is fabulous!! You shouldn't doubt it, you look fantastic! X
ReplyDeleteTwo great looks! I adore the glam of the NYE outfit and the festive, summery feel to your New Year's Day ensemble. I sure wish it was warm here right now! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com

I love the boho look in that first photo. And that super cute top in the second. The color blocked skirt worked so well with the printed top. That's not something I would've paired together but I love how well it works! Stretchy my wardrobe is the best when it comes to purchasing new pieces. We had a very quiet New Years as well. Literally we made food and hung out with my parents. (;
