I picked these two dresses to wear as I felt it had been a while since I'd worn them.
What I wore:
Jacket: Temt black trench coat
Cardi: Jeanswest Peggie kimono in purple mulberry marleScarf: Cotton On fuchsia pashmina
Dress: Jeanswest 'Melanie' paisley mixed print dress
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
It was little chilly in the morning, and this is quite a lightweight dress, so I added a purple cardi under my trench coat that you can kinda see peeking out in the first photo. Kept me warm at my desk too as the dress has short sleeves.Hopefully I can re-create this look when the weather is warmer, without the trench coat as I really liked the cardigan and dress together. I thought the fuchsia pashmina complimented the purple well.
Last worn: black trench, pink pashmina, purple cardi, mixed print dress, ankle boots, Balenciaga tempete day bag.
Other ways to wear: trench coat and a pencil skirt, pashmina and a shift dress, purple cardi and jeans, dress in the third trimester, ankle boots and a maxi skirt, Balenciaga day bag and a maxi skirt.

What I wore:
Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
Dress: French Connection 'Fast Rhonda' dress in black/caramelShoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bag: Mulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather (previously owned bargain here)
Why I wore it:
A warmer day so less layers - just a trench over this dress. I didn't add a scarf, because I find this dress a little tricky to wear a scarf with. I don't have many plain scarves, most are printed! Could have done with a scarf to keep me warm in the early morning, but wasn't too bad without it.It's been a while since I last wore this Mulberry Bayswater bag too! I wore it in March, on my first day back at work after maternity leave. Overall, I've only worn this bag 21 times in the past 3 and a half years (my blog archive is great for finding out info like this!). The leather is extremely sensitive to water, even after I've waterproofed it with the same product I use on all my bags. It tends to get worn mainly for the office. It's such a classic style that will never go out of date though, and some days you just want a formal bag like this for work, so that's why I've held onto it.
I've got a more detailed review of the Mulberry Bayswater on my youtube channel.
Last worn: beige trench, printed sheath dress, camel flats, Mulberry Bayswater tote.
Other ways to wear: trench with orange and burgundy, printed dress with a printed scarf, ballet flats with a boho dress, Bayswater and a baby bump.

I like your two outfits. I love wearing colourful dresses during the warmer weather but not in the office where we have to wear corporate black and white in the front office.
ReplyDeleteRebecca
I'm lucky we can wear whatever colours we like in the office :)
DeleteLoving that second outfit with all the cognac!!
ReplyDeletelove how you styled it! i definitely need that bag.
ReplyDeleteLove booth looks, the first one is so fresh with the pink scarf. Happy Monday, girl.

You've really inspired me to invest in more printed dresses - they're so fabulous! It really is an easy way to look put together with less effort (especially on cold winter mornings). Ditto on colored trench coats - I only have a tan one but I think I need a black one like yours!

Yes dresses are so easy to wear! :)
DeleteI only have two trench coats - this black and tan one - but I couldn't imagine being without them, have had them for years! :)
I love both those dresses. I find it so hard to find nice printed dresses which are a) long enough to be appropriate for work and b) don't look like sacks. These work on both counts! I particularly like the French Connection one and I think it goes great with the Bayswater.
ReplyDeleteFrench Connection have some great work dresses! A lot of my dresses for work are from there or Jeanswest :)
DeleteI love the print and style of both dresses Mica. That's a gorgeous Mulberry bag! It can go with anything.

I've always wanted a Mulberry bag. That tan color is a great choice! Very classy!

Printed dresses are my work go-tos too, they're so easy to throw on when you don't know what to wear! I love yours--the print on that second one is GORGEOUS, especially with your neutral accents. Great fall inspiration for me!
ReplyDeleteI really love that print on the first dress. It's called paisley print, right? Adorable :)

Yep, the main part of it is Paisley print, is really is such a nice print :)
DeleteI love your printed dress options - especially in the cold months with tights!
ReplyDeleteI like both dresses but I LOVE the print of the 2nd dress! It is a gorgeous print! =)

I completely agree! Printed dresses are incredibly versatile and a must for our wardrobe. I wear one floral dress from Zara literally everywhere. Your dress and bag in the second photo are so cute!

They are perfect for so many occasions! :)
DeleteI love me an easy dress anyday! I am so desperately waiting to wear them again. Love both the printed versions. I have wanted a Mulberry for long and seeing yours only solidifies that intent more..it is indeed a very classic style and love the size.
ReplyDeleteWon't be long until you are back into your dresses! :)
Deletethe Mulberry bayswater is a great size bag for work.
I adore that second dress - what a great pattern! You could totally do a patterned scarf with it - just pull out two of the neutrals in it. Eg. a graphic black and white scarf would look great.
ReplyDeletePrinted dresses are an awesome solution for last-minute outfits! You look fabulous, Mica!
I should try a black and white scarf with it next! Thanks Sheila! :)
DeleteI am absolutely loving the prints on these dresses. I wish I was a little more daring to pull these off.

That alice + olivia dress is so absolutely gorgeous! And I really need to invest in a good trench. Especially to put over cute dresses.
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Sabrina
I have a friend who wears nothing but printed dress to work and I've always admired this about her. I've always tended to stick to blacks for some reason but a nice print sure does brighten boring office days.

A good printed dress is always an easy way to put an outfit together. I am totally guilty of owning one too many. (;
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that second outfit. It just screams fall and since I'm really starting to transition my wardrobe, it's all I can think about at the moment. (; Beautiful use of colors!
Printed dresses are the best when you don't know what to wear to work! These are two stunning examples! I adore that second dress especially with your bag!
ReplyDeletePrinted dresses are favourites of mine too. Both are lovely but I really like the print of the second dress. And don't be afraid to choose a patterned scarf to wear with it. Complimentary tones/colours would work - a bit of pattern mixing is fun!
ReplyDeleteI've worn it with a leopard print scarf before but was never 100% happy - need to branch out I think! :)
DeleteThat fall toned outfit #2 is my favorite! Can't wait to break out the autumnal colors here :)

ReplyDeleteI used to live in print dresses but my collection has become a bit run down of late . . . I'm hoping the new spring season will bring plenty of options to boost my numbers!
ReplyDeleteThe second look is perfect Mica, that dress is outstanding and the simple colours for marvellously well together.
ReplyDeleteI love your print dresses, bags and scarves. They look so great on you.
