What I wore:
Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
Scarf: Alexander McQueen modal and cashmere skull scarfShirt: Target blue abstract floral print shirt
Pants: Jeanswest 'Fiona' skinny leg pant in shiraz
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
This is the outfit I wore when I was involved in a little incident on the way to work and smashed my knee. I had considered wearing heels that day, as I felt I hadn't worn them in a while, but decided at the last moment before I went out the door to wear flats instead. I'm so glad I did as it was hard enough trying to hobble around the office in these flats, I couldn't imagine what it would have been like if I was wearing heels. The one good point to a not-so-good day!I bought this shirt back when I was doing #noBuyJuly15, it was my only purchase that month but I still failed the challenge.
As it's the second time I've worn it, my purchase review: I reasoned that this top was such a bargain ($10) and would be perfect for office wear and SAHM wear so I'd be crazy not to buy it. I haven't worn it outside of the office yet, but I'm glad I got to wear it with these pants as it was one of the outfits I had in mind when I bought it. I'm really happy with this, and I have lots of ideas for more ways to wear it still.
Last worn: trench coat, skull print scarf, blue print shirt, burgundy pants, camel flats, Balenciaga tempete day.
Other ways to wear: trench and a printed dress, skull scarf and a navy dress, printed shirt and a pencil skirt, burgundy pants on the weekend, camel flats and gold jeans, Balenciaga tempete day and a maxi skirt.

What I wore:
Jacket: Barkins beige trench coat
Scarf: Marc by Marc Jacobs Stargazer scarf in aquamarine (on sale, and also on sale in black!)Jumper: thrifted blue Mossman knit jumper
Skirt: Atmos&Here grey marle jersey pencil skirt
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bag: Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull
Why I wore it:
Again with the same trench and flats! And bare legs. It wasn't actually warm enough for bare legs, I just can't wear tights over the compression bandage on my knee. I knew I wanted to be warm to try cancel out the bare legs, so a long and cosy trench, a thick jumper, scarf and a couple layers under the jumper helped a little bit.Picked the same flats as the last time I went into the office as they were so comfortable and easy to walk in, felt like a good repeat choice.
Last worn: trench coat (above), stargazer scarf, blue knit, jersey pencil skirt, Marc Jacobs flats (above), Louis Vuitton neverfull.
Other ways to wear: trench coat and heels, stargazer scarf with a polka dot dress, blue jumper and teal dress, pencil skirt in summer, camel flats and a printed dress, LV neverfull and a printed dress.

Oh no! I hate when I trip and hurt my knee. Glad to know you are okay!
ReplyDeleteChelsea
Knees are so easily injured :( I'm healing though, it wasn't such a bad car accident, I'm sure it would have been worse if the emergency stop wasn't done in time and the bus and car collided!
DeleteCobalt blue is by far one of my favorite colors. I never thought to pair them with a burgundy/ reddish pant before. Thank goodness for flats or I couldn't get anything done. I look like a baby giraffe in heels. (;
ReplyDeleteIt's totally ok to repeat elements that make an outfit great. I mean why not stick with the best of the best right? (; Plus you look great as always!
haha yes I know that look as I'm sure I look like that too! I used to be graceful, but knee injury means I probably walk funny!
DeleteThis is cute! I love your burgundy jeans and the tote in the other outfit!
ReplyDeleteRaindrops of Sapphire

Your poor knee! I hope it gets better soon. You're a braver person than I am with bare legs in the cold, but glad your layering strategy worked. I do love the blue and camel combo, always a winner.
ReplyDeleteLuckily it's warming up a bit here as we move into spring :) I can't imagine doing this in the middle of winter!
DeleteI know I keep on telling you, but you look so good in blue, its perfect for your cool skin tone. You can't beat a trench! handy all year round (well, in the UK at least). Thanks for linking up today for THT which I'm co-hosting. Can I remind you to follow our social media. Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I've been told many times blue is my 'colour', that's why I used to wear it so much, haha! :)
DeleteBurgundy and camel are two of the best colors together! So sorry about your knee, guess you make the right choice with your flats.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.iamchiconthecheap.com
Yep I'm sooo thankful I made the choice to wear flats that day! I can't imagine having to walk from the bus to work in heels!
DeleteI love trenchcoats, so classy!!!

Hi Mica!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I love how you have your happy smile on your first outfit photo, your outfit is also such an inspiring one. But oh.. bags.. bags... I love every bags you're featuring in every post. It's the first time I see that LV bag with you since I started visiting your blog months ago.

I haven't used it in a while, which is a shame as it's a great bag! :)
DeleteNow this is so random, but I wore heels, like, very high ones for the first time in ages the other day and it was a big mistake. My right leg couldn't cope, at one point it felt like I was dragging cement blocks. It all makes so much sense now! I've bunged up my knee a few months ago and it's been playing up! LOL! Oh man, I was really getting nervous about it, thinking "I'm too old to wear stuff like this now" (even though my resistance is probably much less than what it was when I was younger too hahaha!)
ReplyDeleteSxx
www.daringcoco.com
haha definitely not too old! You should get your knee checked out, a physio can help get it back to it's usual heel wearing strength :)
DeleteBTW I hope your knee recovers quick smart too xx
ReplyDeleteLovely trench coat dear

That trench coat is lovely and I like how you in both looks you matched it with blue. Both the blue blouse and top are lovely...and I really like your scarves. The beige one is just as lovely as the blue one. Great styling in both cases.
