Opshop Style: Thrifted Tees, Kmart Linen and Preloved Bag

Making the most of the summer holidays and getting in another wear of some recently thrifted pieces with these two outfits. Both feature thrifted tees, and some Kmart linen I recently scored at the opshop. Even though both linen pieces are bright and colourful, I added a touch more colour with my little yellow Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag.

What I wore:

orange stripe tee with rust linen button up skirt yellow bag | awayfromblue

Necklace: thrifted Eb&Ive black wooden bead multi strand statement necklace
Tee: thrifted Cotton On orange and white stripe The One crew neck tee
Skirt: thrifted Kmart rust button up linen blend skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip

Why I wore it:

I thought that this orange striped tee and the rust linen skirt would pair so nicely together when I saw them in the opshop, and I'm pleased I was right! With all the orange I thought the little yellow Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag was a fun accessory, but I did debate for a while over the perfect necklace, and I'm not 100% sure this is the right one.

Decided on the black statement necklace though as it's a fun wooden bead one, and we were off to visit our friends and their little baby. A kid safe necklace for bub to play with during cuddles was the way to go!

Tucking in this tee was a nice way to show off the paper bag waist on this skirt too. With it being such a humid day the linen blend skirt was perfect to wear.

Last worn: black statement necklace, Havaianas, yellow mini 5-zip bag. First time I've worn the striped tee and the skirt as they are recent opshop finds.

What I Bought In December: Massive Thrift Haul

What I wore:

grey tunic tee with Kmart fuchsia pink linen shorts and yellow crossbody bag | awayfromblue

Necklace: thrifted pearl and heart charm long necklace
Tee: thrifted Cotton on grey tunic tee
Shorts: thrifted Kmart fuchsia linen blend shorts
ShoesSketchers Bountiful navy fabric sneakers
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff yellow mini 5 zip

Why I wore it:

I was super excited to find these fuchsia pink Kmart linen blend shorts in the opshop. I had so many outfit ideas for them, already having and loving the Kmart fuchsia pink linen blend dress, a fuchsia tiered dress, and Sass and Bide magenta pink jeans in my wardrobe that have gotten a lot of wear. With the high waist on these shorts though I did struggle to find a tee that looked good with them. I ended up going with this grey tunic (also an opshop find, from a while back) so I could have some extra fabric to drape over the top off the shorts so I didn't look too stiff.

With the neutral grey tee and the metallic necklace, again I thought this outfit would benefit from a bright bag, and since I loved fuchsia and yellow last time I tried them together, I thought this little yellow crossbody would be a good choice.

Comfortable sneakers were needed - I got these Sketchers from my mum for Christmas - as we had a busy day. We picked up our son's friend to go to the zoo. It was so much fun, the kids had a great time! I had a couple errands in the afternoon too, so I stopped by the Kmart Christmas clearance and picked up a bunch of 50 cent sale items for next Christmas!

Last worn: grey tunic, pearl and heart charm necklace, yellow mini 5-zip bag (above). First time I've worn the shorts as they were a recent opshop find, and the shoes as they were a gift from my mum.

Other ways to weargrey tunic and midi skirt, yellow mini 5-zip bag with olive.

How You Can Wear It:

Bright yellow bags can work with bright outfits too! You don't just have to wear them with neutrals. As you can see in these two outfits, the yellow bag looks great with pinks and oranges.

  4. Super cute outfit. If you own a crop top you can try pairing it with the high rise shorts. or a bodysuit.

    1. I don't have any cropped tops - the only ones I do have are regular length on me, being petite, haha! But I will try tucking something in fully next time :)

  8. Ooh, I love both new bottoms you picked up, Mica! The paper-bag waisted skirt is really cute - I'd be tempted to swap in a black belt to help pull the black necklace together and give the waist more definition. I ADORE the yellow bag with the fuchsia shorts! What a fantabulous combo that is! The shorts remind me of my own high-waisted linen skirt. I actually thought your grey shirt was a soft purple colour! For high-waisted items, the "French tuck" works well - just tuck the front in and let the back of the tee hang out. It accentuates the waist, but gives you a bit more freedom NOT to suck in your stomach, lol.

    Happy almost weekend!

    1. Yes the belt and necklace being black would have helped! I usually do the French tuck but it's tricky with this tunic - it really all needs to be tucked in as it's so long otherwise. I will keep having a play with these shorts!

  19. Both the skirt and the shorts are such fun colors! I'm realizing now that I don't do colored bottoms much--and an all-black wardrobe is a problem now that I'm always covered in cat hair! haha
