Kmart Culottes, Tanks and Beaded Necklaces with Edie Bag

Two incredibly similar outfit formulas, but two very different resulting outfits today! Neutral tank and pastel culottes in the first outfit for something a little muted, and a much brighter pink tank and navy printed culotte shorts in the second outfit. I love these Kmart soft culotte shorts so much. Wearing my Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag with both outfits as it works so well with any shade of blue and pairs nicely with both shorts!

Necklace: thrifted Eb&Ive turquoise wooden bead multi strand statement necklace
Tank: Jeanswest Maji metallic tank in soft green and silver
Shorts: thrifted Kmart pastel soft culotte shorts in floral print
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs howlite and hematite beaded bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie regular shoulder bag in Luna blue

Why I wore it:

I knew I had to get these shorts when I stumbled across them at the opshop - already having and loving the same soft culotte shorts from Kmart in a darker navy print (that I'm wearing in the second outfit below), I knew these ones would work in my summer wardrobe perfectly too!

This was such a good day for wearing such a light outfit as well - it was very hot and humid. Thankfully the storms didn't hit until the evening though. Had the school drop off, a quick errand to run, and then working from home before picking the kids up from school in the afternoon and filming a video for my YouTube channel that I've included below.

The metallic tank is a nice neutral so I knew it would work with the shorts, but I felt the outfit looked a little washed out when I tried it on - this thrifted wooden multi strand necklace definitely added a bit more colour! And of course the Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag in Luna blue complimented the pastel blue of the shorts nicely.

Last worn: turquoise beaded necklace, metallic tank, bracelets, pastel print culotte shorts, Adidas Superstar, Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag in Luna blue.

Why I wore it:

Another hot and humid day. I loved the bright colours in this outfit! Even though the bright pink of the satin tank doesn't match the pastel pink in the print of the culotte shorts I think they went together nicely. I really like this bright pink with navy too! I added a little extra navy with the beaded necklace, just like the necklace in the first outfit it was an opshop find as well! It was a nice bit of matchy-matchy with the navy shorts. The Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag doesn't match any of the shades of blue in this outfit, but like the outfit above again I felt it was the perfect accessory with the colours.

Comfortable New Balance sneakers as I had a little walk around my favourite trail after dropping the kids off at school, and before working from home for the rest of the day before school pick up in the afternoon, and then sports in the evening.

Last worn: pink satin tank, blue lozenge necklace, navy printed culotte shorts, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff Edie shoulder bag in Luna blue (above).

How You Can Wear It:

On hot and humid summer days, soft shorts like these blue printed culottes are perfect! Easily paired with a simple tank, you can add a big beaded necklace to help you feel a little more dressed up and pulled together despite the heat.

  1. It's such a score when you find something you already own and love in a different color at a consignment shop! Culottes are definitely the way to go in the heat and humidity.
Hope you have a great weekend Mica!

  6. You wear these culotte shorts so well, and how lovely to find a different version of them in the opshop! I do agree the first pair, however cute its print is, could have done with a brighter colour tank. The pops of colour from your necklace and handbag does balance it out though! I'm loving the bright pink of your tank in the second outfit! Have a great weekend, Mica, and I hope you've got something nice planned! xxx

  27. That style short looks great on you Mica! What's great about culottes is you can dress them up or down. They can take you to work with a blazer and to after school activities and play with your children. Two nice outfits. Love that necklace with the first outfit.
