Spring Outfits: Skinny Jeans, Converse and 3/4 Sleeve tops

Making the most of Brisbane's spring weather and starting to leave the layers behind! Before it heats up too much I reach frequently for my skinny jeans and Converse. It was nice to leave the scarves and extra layers behind on these warmer days, although I did need to add a denim jacket on a particularly windy spring day!

Both of these outfits feature a bright statement piece too.

What I wore:

Necklace: Kmart rose gold and pink beaded necklace
TopDorothy Perkins 3/4 sleeve wrap top
Jeans: Portmans pink leopard print skinny jeans

BagRebecca Minkoff 2012 sky grey mini MAC bag

Why I wore it:

I haven't worn these fun pink leopard print jeans in over a year! I'm trying to stop passing over "special" things in my wardrobe and just wear them anyway, even if I do feel a little overdressed. We didn't have much on this day, the school run and a little walk around the neighbourhood with my youngest while my eldest was at school, but I felt these jeans were overdue a wear!

They do make me happy each time I wear them, and I have worn them with this wrap top before. They look so good with blue! As it was a little windier than expected and threatening rain I added the denim jacket on top - the rolled up sleeves were the perfect length with this 3/4 sleeve wrap top.

The accessories were matchy-matchy too with the blue bag matching the blue wrap top and denim jacket, and the pink and gold necklace matching the leopard print jeans and the gold hardware on the bag! Really liked this outfit, even if it felt a little overdressed in the playground!

Why I wore it:

Again I wore my Converse and skinny jeans, this classic neutral grey pair this time. The Converse were probably a mistake though, after the school run the little one and I headed off to check out a new trail and while much shorter than I can manage, the ground was very uneven and rough which was a lot of pressure for my injured knee. Probably should have worn my ugly but supportive walking shoes instead! And should have worn some mozzie repellent too, we both got bitten like crazy!

Did like the way the Converse looked with this outfit though, and the grey skinny jeans with the black and white Chucks were great neutrals to let the marigold orange top pop. I like the way the skinny jeans balance out all the extra soft, cosy and slouchy volume of the dolman top.

To add just a little bit more colour I wore my green Rebecca Minkoff mini 5 zip bag with this - it really pops against the orange top!

How You Can Wear It:
Skinny jeans and Converse is a mum staple! For something a little different you can try introducing a statement piece, like printed jeans or a bright citrus top.

  2. That's so nice that you're getting some nice spring weather - we're just starting the transition into fall and, while it is my favourite season, I have woken up every morning this week to an absolutely freezing house and that's been a little annoying.

  4. Love the top in that first photo, looks so soft! And the color combos in both of these looks are great. The tealish green with orange is lovely. And oh no for the uneven ground!! It sucks having "old people" ailments, doesn't it? Ha ha. My knees haven't been too bad lately but my back hasn't been happy

  5. I absolutely love the idea of choosing special pieces from your wardrobe and wearing them...even if you end up feeling a little overdressed. Better to be overdressed and feel fabulous! I absolutely love those leopard print pants and I am so glad you chose them. Your outfits are always so exciting and beautiful.

  10. Ooh, I love both of these casual outfits (and yes, they ARE casual, even if you felt dressy in them!). Mica, you are resplendent in both this wonderful blue and this gorgeous marigold yellow. I love the swap-out for the pink cheetah jeans! They really elevate it. I am envious of your dolman sleeves - that style looks horrid on me.

Could you put inserts in your Cons? I buy Dr. Scholl's at the drug store for mine. It really helps!

    1. Thanks Sheila - I feel a bit self conscious in bright pieces sometimes, but they are still perfectly casual and good for a day with the kids :) I haven't found the perfect inserts yet sadly!

  13. These are great skinny jeans outfits. Love the pink printed jeans...and the more neutral combo with skinny jeans look lovely too. You're probably right about the second look. The converse do look lovely with skinny jeans but if you're heading into nature or doing more walking than usual, comfortable walking shoes are a must. Have a great day!

  22. Those pink leopard jeans are delightful, and I do think clothes that make you feel happy wearing them shouldn't be kept for special occasions. You also do not look overdressed to me, either. I fact I think this outfit manages to look both fun and coordinated. I love your second outfit, with the marigold top and green bag, too. Another fun outfit, although I am hearing you on the converse and the mozzie bites! Wishing you a lovely weekend, Mica! xxx

  45. I always have a problem with 'special' pieces that just don't feel right for any old day. Of course there is no joy in them unless they are worn, so that is definitely a mindset to change!
