Necklace: Lovisa turquoise and silver long disc necklace Top: Kmart plain brown tee Belt: Forever New skinny glitter belt (new purchase) Skirt: Vintage pencil skirt from The Thrifty Kitten Shoes: New Look brown cut-out detail shoe Bracelets: the usual plus blue gifted Eiffel Tower bracelet Bag: Chloe Paddington in 2007 Brun Kept everything fairly neutral after my bright monochrome orange outfit on Wednesday! Wearing the last of my new purchases from my DFO Spring accessories shopping trip on the weekend, this cute belt. A couple of times I've worn this skirt people have suggested I add a belt, so when I saw this belt in Forever New my skirt popped to mind right away! Really liked the little bit of colour the belt added, brought out some of the blue in the skirt print.
I purchased this top a year ago and this is only the third time it's been worn, that's a really bad rate for such a pretty top! I definitely need to wear it more often. The top and blazer have been paired together before and I wasn't too happy with the outfit, but this time around I think it looks better with the top partially tucked in. What do you think?
I tracked this cream Zara blazer down on ebay. It's soft jersey material and I have it in black too. I really like this cream colour as it's a great neutral and goes with everything. The soft fabric makes me happy wearing it outside of the office.
Wore this for a lunchtime catch up with a friend from out of state. She was in Brisbane for a couple days for work and managed to squeeze a little bit of spare time to meet up. It was so lovely to see her. The weather was not quite so lovely! It looked like an okay day and as it was supposed to rain a little I brought umbrellas just in case. After we made the decision to head off it started pouring! Luckily the stroller has a waterproof cover, but I realised on the way home that I had left the spare battery pack for my phone in the now waterlogged baby bag!
This pink Balenciaga looks pretty bad when it gets wet but (as I reassured my friend) it dries fine and it handles the rain well. The sun does more damage to it through fading the colour than any rain, especially since I've waterproofed this bag like all my handbags. It wouldn't be my first choice to wear for a stormy day, but at least I don't have to worry about it developing watermarks if I do get caught in the rain with it.
I enjoyed wearing the jersey blazer so got it out again when I was trying to think what jacket would go nicely with the pink and grey outfit I'd put together. I did try a denim jacket with this, but it seemed to hit at an odd point on this top, I much preferred this blazer. Ran some errands, took toddler T for a haircut so he'd look nice for his brother's upcoming dedication ceremony and had dinner with the inlaws.
It's the second time I've worn this new top, so my purchase review:
I like it! It really is perfect for breastfeeding, and the fabric is softer (and a little cosier) than the navy one I have in the same style. The wrap top is kept together with a snap closure so I just need to unsnap it to breastfeed, really handy even though it's not actually a breastfeeding top. I'm pleased I bought this and see it easily getting more wear.
Had a family lunch to celebrate my brother in law's birthday on Sunday, as well as having a few errands to run.
It's been almost a year and a half since I last wore this tank. I like it as the sequin detail is cute and it's a little prettier than a standard tank, but I'm not really happy with the fit or comfort (it has a big zip up the back). Definitely another item that needs to be in the donate pile.
It's good that working my way through wearing different pieces in my wardrobe is helping me to reduce what I own and at the same time expand on what I usually wear. For all the clothes I own, I rotate through very few of them. Having the ability to search my blog for the last time I wore something really shows me how often I wear things and is helping me to see I'm holding onto things I don't use.
Worked from home today, so a casual and comfortable jeans and tee outfit. Had no idea I'd worn this exact outfit before just with different shoes until I searched for the last time I'd worn the top. It's good I'm wearing things I haven't worn in a while, just a shame I'm not wearing them in new ways ;)
I like bright accessories (especially handbags) as they make me smile when I wear them. As the boys and I have been a little unwell lately, I've been enjoying wearing one of my brightest bags - my magenta Balenciaga day bag - when we've been well enough to get out the house. Blue is my favourite colour and also gives me a bit of a boost when I wear it. While the pink bag pops against a black or grey outfit, I love the colour combination of blue and pink too.
This was a nice easy outfit. I've shared the simple winter trick of throwing a knit over a breastfeeding singlet to look a little more pulled together before. Went to the park and had a doctor's appointment.
It was quite a sunny day so I didn't wear a scarf with this and even considered taking the jumper off a few times! I really like the magenta bag and cobalt jumper together.
Such a busy morning when I wore this. Knowing that there seemed to be a cycle of feeling better and then quickly getting sick again, I tried to cram as many errands into one morning as I could when we seemed to be feeling okay. I was running behind and then an extra long stop at the post office (because I was chatting too long) and my local store being sold out of something I wanted meant I didn't manage to get everything done. I made a good attempt though!
I'd thought of wearing the tee and skirt together back when I first bought them, and as I liked the cobalt and magenta in the outfit above I thought the cobalt scarf would be a nice addition. While I like the colours together and I like each piece separately, I was a little unimpressed with how it all looked. As I was running late I just wore it anyway, but probably would have changed if I'd had more time. Not quite an outfit fail, more a case of something not looking as nice on as I'd imagined in my head.
It was a little cool in the morning so I wore this lovely printed jacket, although I took it off in the afternoon when it warmed up. Wearing quite a few pieces today I haven't worn in a while - the little bits of wardrobe reorganisation I'm doing highlights how few clothes I wear!
Didn't realise until I was writing this up that I wore a lot of Sass and Bide today, haha! Warm sunny day so we went out for a bit of a walk this afternoon and my sister kindly let me borrow her bag again so I could make some more youtube videos. Cooper wouldn't sit still for the photos, he wanted to continue on with his walk!
I was participating in two style challenges on instagram in April, so that gave me the chance to try some different outfit ideas I wouldn't have thought of on my own. After my wardrobe detox also, I'm feeling a lot more inspired to try different things. I'm not completely changing my style (it's all just clothes from my own wardrobe after all), but I'm wearing things differently or trying combinations I might have passed up before. I'm finding that not all of the outfits are winners, but they are only clothes! If I don't like the result in the mirror I can just put something else on...and if the outfits do pass the 'mirror test' in the morning but I end up disliking them after looking at the photos or wearing them all day, well I just know I won't repeat those combinations again :) So below are two outfits where I tried some different things. One I didn't really like, but one I did like, just would have preferred to have worn it on a different day.
The style challenge for the day was 'girly' so I went overboard with the pink and added some florals too! I did stop to wonder if the pink sandals were going too far, but figured why not just give it a go. We went for a little walk by the sea. It's embarrassing how little we go to the beach considering how close we live to it! This is another one of those outfits where I like the pieces separately, but together they just don't work. The ruffles on the cami don't look nice with the lapels of the blazer, it's too much.
I did take my camera when we went out so that I could try switch things up a little background wise and take advantage of the great scenery with the sea, but with a dog and a baby in a stroller, that was a bit of a fail too.
Despite this not being a great outfit, it passed my mirror test that morning and I was really comfortable and happy in it all day! It was only after I looked at the photos on the computer I realised that it didn't really work. Colour-wise it's a wonderful idea, but these pieces are not the best way to implement it!
I felt very overdressed for the day, but it did meet the challenge prompts, and is the kind of outfit I find so easy and comfortable to wear. I really liked it even if it seemed like a bit of a 'waste' as I worked from home all day!
I was happy to be able to wear my new shirt dress too! So glad I picked this up at the Iconic, I'd had it in my wishlist there for a while just waiting for a sale to justify it. It's really similar to my Zara printed tunic dress but that's one of the reasons why I like it. I figure the polka dots are different enough that I can justify having the two similar cut navy dresses in my wardrobe.
Two denim outfits - a Spring-y one with layers, and a summer-like one with denim shorts. The heat shot up suddenly here in Queensland, giving us a taste of the hot summer to come!
You might remember me on the blog a while back (while I was still pregnant!) talking about going car shopping. We eventually found the perfect car and placed an order shortly before baby T arrived. There was a mix-up at the dealership unfortunately, so there was a bit of a delay. It's been a long wait, and after lots of updates from a very apologetic sales guy, we finally have the car we wanted with all the bells and whistles and safety things for baby! So exciting! My favourite part is that it has little air conditioning vents in the back - perfect for keeping baby and Cooper cool on a hot day.
Wanted to look a little dressed up for going to the dealership so added the tweed cardi over the top of the casual jeans and cami outfit. I wore the outfit without the jacket when I went out that morning with baby, but we picked the car up in the evening when a light jacket was helpful.
This cami top is one I got from my sister as part of her wardrobe clear out. Such a great piece, I'm glad she didn't want it any more.
Such a hot day when I wore this! Defintely no need for an extra layer. I honestly felt like I was melting, and baby T had a hard time coping! Out of nowhere the Spring weather took a turn and treated us to a little bit of summer heat. Was quite a shock to the system for me, and a bit of an upset for baby T, poor little man has never felt such heat in his life. I had to venture outside to the post office, so wanted to wear as few clothes as possible to do so, yet still look decent. A light-weight tank and denim shorts was good to try keep cool, and for lounging around at home afterwards trying to cool down again. It was not as cool in the morning as I hoped it would be, but at least we were back home before the real heat of the day. I wasn't up for standing out in the sun again just for a picture, so stayed inside the house to take this, haha!
I've only worn this tank once before, over a year ago. I do recall trying to wear it in pregnancy, but the baby bump had outgrown it when I tried. I don't really wear green a lot in my wardrobe, which might be another reason it hasn't been worn much. I did enjoy wearing it this time though, so it's staying in my wardrobe for now, and I'll make more of an effort to wear it over the warmer months to justify keeping it. I have quite a few pieces like this in my wardrobe - great sale bargains I just had to have...which don't end up getting worn much at all. I need to keep this in mind when I shop the sales racks in future!
Two more Fox in Flats Darecember outfits! I'm participating in the style challenge each day on instagram, and blogging the outfits I manage to get photos of.
The style challenge for the day was "orange kisses". I was thinking of doing orange accessories, until I remembered this tee in my wardrobe. The neon orange seemed like the best fit - as I don't own any orange lippy. I only have one lipstick actually, the same shade I wore to my wedding, just a really simple natural colour. I'm not a big lipstick fan.
Nice jeans and a tee outfit for a bit of Christmas shopping. No necklace, as I felt the tee was attention grabbing enough. Hopefully no one looked too closely at what I was wearing though, as I realised at the end of the day when I got undressed that there was a big broccoli stain on the tee from baby T's breakfast! I hadn't looked in a mirror after he'd eaten. Nobody said anything so maybe I got away with it ;) I had thought I was clever getting up, dressed and taking outfit pictures before baby had even woken up too. Pyjamas are a much safer option for breakfast with baby!
I rediscovered this top during one of my wardrobe clean outs in pregnancy, and I'm so glad I did. It was my old favourite for a while, and it makes me smile every time I wear it.
The style challenge for the day was "gold", which is such an easy one! I had a few outfit options to chose from. I really wanted to wear my metallic skinny jeans, they would have been perfect for this! But it was so hot and humid I decided on gold accessories instead.
The skirt and sandals were worn together previously too! The shoes will be worn a bit over summer, as they are a slightly dressier option than my usual default of my Havaianas thongs.
It was much too cold outside for thongs! Should have worn boots or closed in shoes instead. It's suddenly got so much colder. Just a nice casual outfit to relax in after working Saturday. Luckily I wasn't asked to work Sunday as well, so I could still help out at church online.
Decided on tights, boots, long sleeved top and a jacket today as it was so cold! Lots of black but I thought the stripes and jacquard print kept it interesting. So pleased I got to wear my new skirt today too, will be a great winter piece! Unfortunately they don't have it on the Jeanswest website, but it is in some stores.
Just a nice simple outfit for casual Friday at work. I thought that the leopard scarf looked nice against the striped tee, and of course it kept my neck warm.
Unfortunately after breakfast this morning, the rain set in and ruined my plans to take tripod photos. So DH took these pictures after we picked Cooper up from the groomers in the afternoon, using the awning from the stores for protection from the rain.
The groomer gave Cooper a cute little purple bow in his hair after his haircut, matched quite nicely with my purple outfit!
