What I wore:
Scarf: Marc by Marc Jacobs Stargazer scarf in aquamarine (new purchase, on sale!)
Dress: Zalora Basics faux leather placket red shift dress (new purchase, on sale!)
Shoes: Acne pistol boots in "skin"
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)
Why I wore it:
This dress is another new purchase! I wore it to go out shopping with DH and baby T, it was so comfortable to wear all day. I'd added it to my cart when I was shopping The Iconic sale looking for some cute dresses. I thought this one looked okay and was a nice colour, and the price swayed me to buy it, figuring that I'd make my mind up when it arrived. I loved it as soon as I tried it on at home. You can see I wore it straight from the packet without even ironing it - it still has those fold creases ;) This will be getting a lot of wear and popping up often on the blog.I thought the blues in the scarf worked well with the red dress, and I added the Pistol boots as it's definitely cooling down a little in Brisbane. Autumn is finally here.
Last worn: Acne pistol boots, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere. First time I've worn the scarf and the dress as they are new purchases.
Other ways to wear: similar blanket scarf with skinny jeans, Acne pistol boots with skinny jeans, print mixing with Louis Vuitton damier ebene speedy.
What I wore:
Scarf: Marc by Marc Jacobs Stargazer scarf in aquamarine (new purchase, on sale!)
Tee: Cotton On Luxe pearl tee
Skirt: Asos colour block maxi skirt in red (on sale!)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs metallic mouse flats
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)
Wore this out to playgroup. I really wanted to wear my Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf again, and while I do like the colour combination in this outfit, as I did in the one above, I really don't like this outfit! Just too much volume. I was going to wear a fitted singlet but went for a tee instead for a little more warmth. It was cosy and comfortable for a rainy and cold morning and spending time at playgroup with baby T, but it's not a very flattering combination with all the voluminous pieces together. This is one of those outfits I wished I didn't wear. Maybe I should add that as another tag to my blog, outfit fails. What do you think? Or is seeing the terrible pictures proof enough that outfits like this should not be repeated? ;)
This tee hasn't been worn in a year and a half, and was uncovered during my wardrobe detox session, the stylist was really happy with it and said I should wear it more often. I think it's further confirmation that I have too many tops. Just a shame I did not pick a better outfit for this tee's return to my frequent wardrobe rotation!
Last worn: metallic gold tee, colour block maxi skirt, metallic mouse flats, Louis Vuitton speedy B (above).
Other ways to wear: metallic tee with a pencil skirt, better version of the maxi skirt and tee combination, mouse flats and printed skinny jeans, LV Speedy Bandouliere with a chambray shift dress.
Passion 4 Fashion, Casual Friday, Fashion Friday, Weekend Link Up, Mix It Up, Fashion Friday, The Ultimate Rabbit Hole, Let It Shine, Modest Monday today.Skirt: Asos colour block maxi skirt in red (on sale!)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs metallic mouse flats
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)
Why I wore it:
My first day doing two style challenges at once! I started doing the #PoshLadyIndigo challenge as well as the #FoxPackStyleDare challenges. The prompt for the first one was 'colour block-rockin' beats' so my colour block maxi skirt was perfect. The theme for the fox pack style dare was 'flashback hair' and I was going to share an older picture with my longer hair, but then I noticed how the placement of the scarf almost looked like I did have long hair hidden under the scarf, so I said this met the challenge.Wore this out to playgroup. I really wanted to wear my Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf again, and while I do like the colour combination in this outfit, as I did in the one above, I really don't like this outfit! Just too much volume. I was going to wear a fitted singlet but went for a tee instead for a little more warmth. What a beautiful scarf and I love the way you've styled it :) Mim x #fashionfriday
ReplyDeleteI am so used to seeing you in flip flops and it's funny how just as our weather is heating up, yours is cooling down! So fun to see the outfit with the booties and scarf! Great color pairing.

haha yes sadly the Havaianas days are getting rarer and rarer as it cools off!
DeleteLove that scarf! Such a great buy! I ended up getting some FRAME jeans in the sale :) WOO!

Boots with dresses is something I never saw myself doing until I began following your blog. Come this fall, I'm definitely going to give it a try. I have so many dresses that could work.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of adding an outfit fails tag. It makes you human to admit when something just doesn't work and I kind of love that you chose to share it rather than delete the photos. I think maybe with a solid skirt you would've felt differently. I love trying to make different pieces of my wardrobe work. Sometimes I wind up looking like bo-bo the clown, like a few weeks ago when I tried to make maroon and mint green work. #fail But that's the run of it. (: Have a lovely weekend Mica!
I'm so gald I could inspire you! I really like wearing it a lot, especially in spring :)
DeleteI think a solid or tighter fitting skirt would have worked better. And I'm sure you looked great in maroon and mint! I've gotten into the habit of sharing everything, otherwise I worry that nothing is ever 'perfect' enough to share and I would never post, ha!
Beautiful :) xo

Beautiful scarf. I had actually been eyeing that one as well, it just comes with the nerd/geek territory. Really love it in combination with the red dress.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!

The MBMJ scarf is so cool! It reminds me of the Cosmo!! It sure looks really good with red! I love you are wearing brighter colour! Since I don't wear make up, colourful accessories are what I use as colour pops in my everyday dressing :)
ReplyDeleteI love my colourful accessories, but so often I just wear them with grey - trying to embrace colour more! :)
DeleteGreat way to really make the scarp pop! I love it with the shift dress!!!

ReplyDeleteStylishly Planted
Oooh why don't you have them in black any more? I was thinking of getting a black pair too actually as I wear these so often!
DeleteLove this! How are you liking the purse? I've been debating on this one or the Neverfull.

I really like the speedy bandouliere! :) I guess it depends on what you want to use it for. Either is great, I like both of mine, but I think the crossbody strap on the speedy B makes it easier for life with baby :)
DeleteMica, I love your new red dress! The style and folds at the bottom are too cute. That scarf looks great with it! It looks good with red!

That dress looks amazing on you, so I will forgive the creases ;)
ReplyDeleteI am so guilty of buying something 'just to see that I know I will return' only to end up keeping it!
Chic on the Cheap
haha yes I am terrible with doing that! it's too easy to do online when there are free returns, haha!
DeleteGosh, you look so pretty, dear! Love Marc Jacobs too! xoxo
ReplyDeletehere it is getting warmer, not cooler:) but I guess every type of weather has its perks.
ReplyDeleteyou look stunning in both looks...that scarf is so pretty! I really like how you played with colour in both of these outfits.

Hahahaha! How true is that! Gosh the exchange rates are TERRIBLE these days. I'm always second guessing purchases now because of it. But you make such a valid point - it's still cheaper than over here. I love that new red dress, it's such a beautiful colour on you as is that maxi skirt. One of my fave pieces of yours still.

I remember those days it was dollar for dollar...everything was such a bargain haha! But like you said, even with the bad exchange rate most stuff is still cheaper direct from the US! :)
DeleteThat maxi skirt is one of my favourites too, defended keeping it in my wardrobe, the stylist wasn't too happy with it on me but I just love the colour! :D
The maxi skirt is super cute! Goes great with your scarf :)

Thank you all for your kind comments!
ReplyDeleteGreat purchase on that oversized scarf!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I like the first look best, with the red dress.
Oh, this scarf! It can be perfect in ever outfit!! Can't stop looking at it!
ReplyDeleteLove, love the scarf. I'm a self confessed scarfaholic and this one looks really nice. I like the large size and it draped well. Looks like a winner !!!!! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteI love scarves but never wear them. You look fantastic in yours and the red dress.
ReplyDeleteLooking lovely, I have the Speedy 30 too, fab bag. Thanks for linking up to #fashionfriday
ReplyDeleteHow did you get an M on your bag? (I'm looking to purchase a Speedy B 30, and like the monogram option. That M is so subtle - I love it!
ReplyDeleteThe speedy B 30 is a great bag! I love mine :)
DeleteWhen you purchase the bag from LV you have the option of getting it monogrammed. I decided just to go with one initial rather than 2 or 3 as I thought it would look quite nice :) You can get free monogramming for the life of your bag as well if you don't want to decide on the day you buy it.
