Floral Print Dresses, Sneakers and Pink Mini 5 Zip Bag | Weekday Wear Link Up

Keeping things simple for some super hot days we had back at the start of February, wearing sneakers and floral print dresses with my little pink Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag. Great outfits for the school run and then for running a few errands while the kids were at school.

What I wore:

Kmart strappy tiered sundress in watercolour blue and blush print with pink mini 5 zip crossbody bag converse sneakers | awayfromtheblue

navy and blush tiered dress with Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5 zip in pink iris with gold hardware | away from the blue

Necklace: rose gold and turquoise beaded necklace
Dress: Kmart strappy tiered sundress in watercolour blue and blush print
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite and rose quartz bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff Mini 5 zip in pink iris with gold hardware

Why I wore it:

This was one of those days where everything went wrong! While getting the kids ready for school I ran a quick load of laundry, throwing in a couple of things I'd found at the opshop the day before. Only to open the machine at the end of the cycle to find that one of the cute scarves I'd thrifted had turned everything blue!

Despite my best efforts with two sachets of colour run remover, it ruined a few clothes. While I saved the majority of my clothes I was really annoyed at losing 3 dresses, particularly because I'd just thrifted the dresses! Everything that I couldn't save even after my second try at colour run remover I tossed in the bag I keep around for collecting items for the H&M recycling program - anything too torn or stained goes in there so the fabric can be recycled.

It was a hot day too which didn't help my bad mood with my bad laundry luck! I picked this light sundress to wear, it's perfect on a hot day, for rushing around the shops buying more colour run remover after dropping the kids off at school, and for taking Cooper to the vets for a check up before school pick up. Thankfully that appointment went well, even if the vet was running a little late so I was stressed about making it back on time to pick up the kids. Was glad when this day was over!

While the pink iris mini 5-zip bag doesn't match the blush pink floral and leaf print on the dress, I like wearing other shades of pink with this sundress. I find most pink shades go together nicely with the blush even though they don't match. The turquoise necklace and the blue Converse don't match the navy of the dress either, but they compliment it nicely.

What I wore:

Atmos & Here Willow printed tee dress with pink crossbody bag adidas superstar sneakers | awayfromtheblue

DressAtmos & Here Willow printed tee dress
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff Mini 5 zip in pink iris with gold hardware

Why I wore it:

This was a much better day than the one above! It was also the day before. After school drop off I'd decided to spend a little time at the opshops browsing and ended up picking up some nice things (including the scarf mentioned above that ruined some clothes, along with the dresses I also thrifted on this day!). I was feeling really good about some of my cute finds, it's a shame I didn't get to actually wear them and they are only good for recycling now.

Also took Cooper to our groomer for a summer clip - he'd been overdue with how hectic January was for us so he looked like a brand new dog with the shorter fur! The kids were so amused by his appearance when I picked them up from school.

As it was another hot day I went with a simple tee dress - this tropical floral print one is a favourite of mine and always looks good with sneakers. While I've had this dress a while (and this is it's 22nd wear), I've never tried a pink bag with it! It has a lot of colours in the print but no pink. I wasn't sure how it would go but I put this bag on just to see and I was surprised that it worked. I'm glad I tried something a little different with this dress!

Last worn: Atmos&Here willow tee dress, jade bracelets, Adidas Superstar sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag (above).

Other ways to wearAtmos&Here willow tee dress in winter, Adidas Superstar sneakers and denim skirt, Rebecca Minkoff mini 5-zip bag and flared dress.

Perfect for pregnancyAtmos&Here willow tee dress in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:

Dresses and sneakers are a fashionable combo that make for a really comfortable outfit on a hot day! For a little extra colour, try pairing a bright bag with a printed dress like I have with the pink mini 5 zip bag in these outfits.

  2. That is too bad about the scarf turning everything blue - ugh! I have used color remover once and although it helped somewhat the majority of the clothes were ruined, so I know the feeling.
Hope you have a good week!

    1. Yes I'm so annoyed as it's worked in the past but I had to use 2 packets and still no luck this time with some of the pieces. Really frustrating! :(

  3. When I get something new I usually wash them on its own because I dont know if the color will come off because it has happened too many time. Love to looks and the pink bag goes with everything.

    1. I definitely should have done that and will in future! I just tossed it in a gentle cold handwash cycle as I've never had colour run from that ever before, only on higher heat and more aggressive cycles :(

  7. Oh no, I hate it when that kind of laundry snafu occurs! Some scarves are SO SATURATED in dye. It's a pain to do, but I now wash my thrifted scarves by hand instead of washing in the machine for this reason. I have even started giving my new scarves a hand wash in case they have too much dye...after having one stain the white T I wore it with (luckily the stain did come out after a couple of washes). Sometimes I have to let the scarf sit in water, rinse, repeat multiple times to get the extra dye out. I like to use a no-rinse soap for hand-washing...I've had good results with Soak.

    1. I always just use the handwash cycle on the washing machine for everything new as I've never had a colour run issue with it, until now sadly! I couldn't get the stains out even after multiple attempts with colour run, I'm so upset!

  9. What a bad luck day that Mica, ruining clothes is the worst thing that can happen to me so I understand your annoyance! As for the looks, I liked the first one more than the second one, the bag gave that special touch of color!

  10. Oh what a thing to have happened, that would have totally got me in a bad mood too! It's a relief you were able to save the majority of the clothes, though, and the ruined ones were thrifted ones which didn't cost the earth!
I'm loving both dresses, although my favourite is still the first one in spite of its bad vibes. I'm loving the contrast between the dark blue and the pink! xxx

  12. I am sorry to hear about your laundry incident. I would be in a bad mood too. That's great though that you give away the material to be recycled. I need to do that. Usually I just donate but I like the idea of reusing the material again. I love both of your outfits Mica. They are perfect for those hot days. I also appreciate that you love to wear sneakers with dresses. It's so cute and my favorite way to wear my dresses too. I hope your weekend went well and your week is off to a great start. Happy Monday!

  16. That suck about the laundry. I don't know if they sell them in your area but I swear by color catch's There almost like a dry sheet but for your washing machine. I use them all the time. My friend total me about them 6 years ago and they have been a total game changer.

  20. Oh, no, that sucks, Mica! I've done that too - I still have lingering regret after I ruined one of my favourite shirts by washing it with something dark blue (and that was 10 years ago!). Well, that only means you'll have to go shopping again, and surely the thrifting gods will smile on you and send something even better your way.

I love the pink bag with both outfits! How were you surprised that pink would go with turquoise? Pink goes with everything! ;-P

Thanks so much for the link-party!

    1. Pink really does go with everything, haha! The dress is more of a teal so I was a little unsure about the pink and green together, but it worked!
I did find some nice things but I'm particularly sad about a $60 dress in perfect condition I got for just $1 that I couldn't save!

  25. Oh no! I am so sorry to hear about the laundry issue! That is so frustrating. You did the absolute best you could do to remove the colour from as much as possible. At least there is that, but it is so frustrating when things like that happen. On the plus side, both of your outfits are beautiful <3

I am sorry to read that your day was less than ideal. Some days really just pile on, don't day. It sounds like your schedule is pretty full with school pick up, drop offs, chores and errands. Hopefully you've had some relief from the flooding and the effects of that on your day to day life.

    1. haha yes I wish it was colourfast dyes or nothing! I'm glad we got Cooper his summer trim when we did as the groomer was one that lost everything in the floods, will be a while until she is back up and running sadly! :(
