Long Sleeved Dresses And Micro Bedford Bag

With autumn weather arriving near the end of April, I've changed my usual "grocery shopping during coronavirus pandemic" outfit formula a little. I pulled out some longer sleeved dresses for the cooler weather. Both of these haven't been worn in a while and were definitely overdue a wear!

What I wore:

BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

This striped tee dress is a firm favourite of mine but doesn't get worn as much as the other ones I have as the thicker fabric and longer sleeves make it a little warm for much of the year here in Brisbane. It was perfect on this colder autumn morning though, as I left the kids with hubby working from home as I went out for groceries. I try go get groceries early in the day so that the crowds will be smaller. Doesn't guarantee that there will be more stock there, but does mean the store is quieter.

I do like wearing this dress with my Converse so these sneakers are just another take on that, even if I think they are a bit uglier than my Converse! I'm sticking to the same accessories each time I leave the house so I don't need to contaminate things by bringing them back inside to change them over. It did create a very monochromatic outfit with the navy bag and navy striped dress together, and I did wish I'd have picked a different colour of bag as my go-to over for grocery shopping 😂 maybe a pink one, I like wearing pink bags with this dress!

Why I wore it:

Like the striped tee dress above, this isn't frequently worn. It's a great shift style but hasn't gotten a lot of love as the length makes it a bit tricky to wear around the kids. Even though the striped one only has a slightly more dipped hem in the back, this feels a bit shorter. Perfect for a solo trip to the grocery store though, again with the same shoes and bag as above. I have to say my knee is loving only wearing these supportive shoes every time I go out in the car, driving is the thing that hurts my injured knee the most.

Unfortunately, unlike the striped dress above, this dress is not as stretchy and forgiving and highlighted to me the high levels of chocolate consumption going on in home isolation here, ha! Always tempting to sneak a bit from my secret pantry stash when I'm getting the boys yet another snack... 😂

  1. I love the navy dress with the stripes. I like how you paired it with a navy bag. The sneakers are lovely as well. Such a great monochromatic styling. The second styling with the printed shirt dress is also lovely. Thank you for sharing.

  2. I love a good sneaker- dress combo! And I totally relate to the certain areas of my body growing a bit with this whole pandemic, ugh, some of my clothes just love to hug those areas! Have a great weekend Mica!

  9. I love a good navy! These monochromatic looks are great! Isn't it funny how dresses can be shorter but feel longer than a longer dress...I have a few like that too

  10. Oh, tell me about the chocolate consumption - same here! I have to try to limit myself to only on the weekends!

I love that first dress - the deep blue really looks good on you. I'm not a huge fan of the second dress, as this is one of those prints that looks "muddy" on screen. Small, delicate patterns tend to do that, I've found. Nothing to do with how it looks on you - although I do feel you on the length and non-stretchiness!

The colors in the print on your second dress is beautiful! I am glad you can see it more in the photo with your bag!

I feel you about going to the grocery store early. We have to especially with everyone crowding to them and having spacial limitations applying! Oooh, your printed shirt dress is cute as well!

  21. I thought I was fine with my chocolate consumption until I visited a shop which had recently re-opened, and was given a 1 kilo bag of mini Easter eggs for free! I do love both of the dresses, and think navy is a great colour on you. I have a pair of trousers in a similar print as your second dress! I agree a pink bag would look fantastic with your first dress. I am actually only using two handbags at the moment, one to go to the office and one for shopping trips. Sad really, as my other handbags keep calling me every time I open the wardrobe doors! Have a lovely Sunday, Mica! xxx

  35. It always feels great to be able to give some love to lesser worn items in our wardrobe and both dresses look breezy and chic. Grocery shopping is all about efficiency these days and wearing an outfit you're comfortable with certainly helps. I've been sicking to one outfit when I do go out on grocery runs and I make sure to leave those clothes out on a rack so they don't touch anything else in my closet. I just feel like you can't be too safe right now y'know.

    1. that's a good approach! I figured washing after I wear them, even if I've only worn them for an hour would be the way to go as I wasn't sure I could sufficiently space them out in my wardrobe, haha! Isn't it funny the things we have to think of now!

  45. Both dresses are very cute and I love your bag. I typically only carry a cross body bag, especially when shopping. It just makes it so much easier to have my hands free and I feel it is more secure and sanitary than having it sitting in a shopping cart. Sneakers are my bum knee's best friend and when I know I am going to be doing a lot of walking or work around the house, I also where a stretchy knee brace that just slips on. Hope your knee gets to feeling better soon. Mine has been a problem for close to a year, so when things are a little more open, I'll probably get to the doctor and have it checked out. Hope you are doing well. Stay safe. - Amy

  46. You are so clever to put these dresses with the tennis shoes. I wouldn't think to do that but really like the way it looks. And those comfy shoes make so much more sense for running errands and grocery shopping. Really like the striped dress on you and the first one you featured with your links. I have a 6 year old striped dress that needs more wear. Thanks for the inspo.
