Alexander McQueen Skull Scarves To Add Colour To Light Knits and Skinny Jeans Outfits

I'm always so excited about winter weather when it first arrives as it's an opportunity to wear some of my knits! I'm wearing two of my recently purchased ones below, with skinny jeans and Alexander McQueen skull scarves. I am really enjoying the cooler weather that lets me layer!

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

You might know from reading my blog that I love a bit of matchy matchy! I was trying to follow along with Eileen's style challenge on Instagram, and the theme for the day was to wear a neutral outfit with a statement shoe. I thought of these little worn suede ballet flats right away. And of course I just had to top it off with a red scarf to match.

These red suede flats aren't worn often,  I tend to stick to neutral shoes and just go with colourful bags. But I keep these shoes around as while they are rarely worn they are fun and I like every time I wear them!

The red scarf is frequently worn - I always like pulling it out in the cooler weather as it really pops against neutrals, and I love how it does that here with the grey knit.

I did end up pulling the scarf off when the day heated up and we were on our way home from playgroup, but it was needed in the cold morning. I'm extremely pleased that despite it being 'making cupcakes' day at playgroup, my outfit was mess-free. All too often I've been finding these black jeans haven't lasted the full day without one of the boys spilling or smearing something on them!

My Complete Scarf Collection:

It's so fun when winter comes around, as I can wear my many scarves!

Why I wore it:

The only downside to winter is the winter bugs that go around, and I got one bad. And lost my voice. Which made working difficult, but not impossible. I was able to work from home for the 3 days instead of going into the office to try rest up a little. After this I was eager to get out of the house again and feeling a bit better, so I pulled on this outfit I'd been wanting to try.

I like grey and yellow together, so knew I wanted to wear this mustard knit and grey jeans together. Again keeping with a little matchy matchy theme I picked my mustard Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag.

As I was still recovering still and didn't fully have my voice, I wanted to wrap my throat up warmly (I always want scarves when I'm sick!) and picked this teal and blue skull scarf as a bold pop with the mustard.

While this outfit was perfect for taking the boys out to our local park for a couple of hours, it wasn't one of my favourites, and I prefered the outfit above. I might have to try this mustard knit and grey jeans combo in a different way next time. It is always interesting to me how similar outfit formulas can have such different results!

How You Can Wear It:

A simple outfit formula of skinny jeans and a knit is an easy stay at home mum option in the colder weather. You can easily add some brightness to your outfit through your accessories - like I have here with the Alexander McQueen skull scarves.

  2. Hello dear Mica
I think we never agree with each other ahahah I like most the second look. Although I like red, and shoes with vibrant colors. But I like more of the sporty look. I also love wearing winter scarves, the looks are much more interesting and also protect us from the cold. You look so good with them. I hope you're better off your voice. Have a wonderful weekend.

    Lots of love

The second outfit is lovely too, I really like the blue colour of that scarf. Looks like it's getting proper chilly your end, whereas here in the UK we're having the biggest heatwave!
