Thrifted Maxi Skirts And White Tees With Navy Micro Bedford Bag

When I returned to work mid-January after the Christmas break, during typical hot summer days, I wanted easy and comfortable outfits for doing the holiday care pickup and drop off and working from home. Maxi skirts always feel a little more pulled together than a classic pair of shorts, but are just as cool in the heat, and both of these were opshop finds. With the brighter maxi skirts too these are quite colourful outfits, even with the neutral navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag.

What I wore:

thrifted navy stripe Coca-Cola logo tee with orchre tree of life maxi skirt and navy crossbody bag | away from blue

ochre orange maxi skirt with Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight | away from the blue

Tee: thrifted navy stripe Coca-Cola logo tee
Skirt: thrifted Tree of Life ochre maxi skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight
Nails: OPI Dutch tulips

Why I wore it:

I thrifted this tee two years ago for just $1 and I realised it was overdue another wear. Surprisingly I hadn't worn it with this ochre maxi skirt before. I do love stripes with this skirt, it's an obvious choice with the block colour skirt going with any print. I also couldn't resist a little matchy-matchy - the navy Havaianas and the navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag match the navy stripes on the tee well.

I think I should try wearing this ochre maxi skirt with red again - the little pop of colour from my red nail polish and the red Coca-Cola logo on the tee was a nice subtle way to try the colour combination out.

Unfortunately my day didn't quite go as planned - as there was a (minor!) incident at the holiday care and I had to go rush to pickup my son early before trying to cram in more work before I left again to take my son to his appointment. At least my outfit was comfortable!

Last worn: Coca-Cola stripe tee, ochre maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford.

Other ways to wearCoca-Cola stripe tee and chambray skirt, ochre maxi skirt in winter, Rebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford and floral dress.

Necklace: Lovisa blue leaf long necklace
TeeCotton On The One Deep V tee in marle nep white body black
Skirtthrifted Billabong 'Don't Think Of It' bikini red printed maxi skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

This day didn't quite go to plan either, but in a much more relaxing way! I had been sure that my son had an appointment to attend on this day as I'd written it down in my phone calendar. So we had our usual routine of getting up and getting the kids dropped off, trying to log onto work as early as possible to make up for leaving early for the appointment. During a gap in meetings I realised that I hadn't yet got an appointment reminder text... turned out I had not only the wrong day but the wrong time too, so there was no mad dash to finish work early to log off for the appointment. It made for a much less stressful afternoon!

Again I went matchy-matchy with this outfit, with the navy leaf necklace and the navy Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag. Although the tee is more of a marle than a pure white, it's very subtle and you can't beat a classic red white and blue combo. This thrifted red maxi skirt will always be a favourite in the summer heat too. Well worth the $3 I paid at the opshop a few years ago, this is its 23rd wear!

Last worn: white marle tee, leaf necklace, red printed maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag (above).

Other ways to wearwhite marle tee and shorts, red printed maxi skirt and mustard knit, Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag and jeans.

How You Can Wear It:

A classic white tee, even a printed one, is a summer staple! To help your outfit feel a little more pulled together than a standard shorts and tee combo, try it with a colourful maxi skirt instead!

What I Bought In January (And How I've Worn It)

Well, I have gone a little overboard with the shopping! It's not the massive haul of last January, but it's still more than I expected to have bought so far this year, after setting out my goals for 2021's fashion spending recently. It can be explained with one sentence - "I had a $10 cotton on rewards voucher...."

Here's What I Bought:

Why I Bought It:

Yes, with the exception of the wallet which I needed to replace my Coach wallet, all I bought was Cotton On tees this month!

The wallet was a much needed replacement for my old Coach one which no longer zipped up, and had already been repaired once before. It had embarrassed me one time too many when I picked it up out of my bag upside down and cards and receipts flew everywhere.... This new one is a flap closure and only has a tiny zipper for coins so I'm hoping it lasts longer than 2 years! I haven't bought Mimco in a while so fingers crossed the brand still has the same quality levels it did when I bought my first expensive bag there back in my uni days. Good old button bags, that uniquely Aussie trend! The wallet was on super sale at David Jones for boxing day so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm counting my other boxing day sale finds as January buys too as they didn't arrive until January - two clay coloured Cotton on "The One" fitted tees. I used my $10 Cotton On rewards voucher, and with them already being on sale and then having an extra 30% off, it was too good a deal to say no to! They were reduced to $7.99 each, coming down to just $2.99 each after applying the rewards voucher.

Then right at the end of January there was another sale, I had another $10 rewards voucher after my boxing day sale spending (as I bought for the kids as well as the two tees for me) and I was on the hunt for some cute pyjamas to replace a pair I had that wore out. And then I just looked at the tees, which had new colours, were on sale and had an extra 20% off, and so I bought two more 😂

If you're keeping score at home, that's now 7 of these Cotton On "The One" v-neck tees I have, 4 of which I added to my wardrobe this month. At least they are all different colours I guess? And 20% recycled cotton too! I really do love these tees but think I have ventured into crazy "gotta have them all" territory this month!

How I've Worn It:

The last two tees I bought I selected instore pickup for so while they arrived just before the end of the month for me to know they were keepers to include in this wrap up post, I didn't actually get to wear them both! So my mango tee is still unworn at the moment.

Aside from the two tees that I picked up on Friday, I have been able to wear everything at least twice in the month I bought it, my goal for all purchases to stop the "new with tags but never worn" items in my wardrobe. And I'm sure that I'll be achieving two wears on the last two tees in the next week or so!

Perhaps my goal for February should be to not buy any more tees though! If they bring out a green and purple I'll be doomed...they are the only two colours I need before I will literally have a rainbow of these tees!
