This outfit was a bit of a fail. It seemed like such a good idea the night before, the top still fits (just!) over the baby bump, and the black jeans easily pass as normal pants for work. I just felt a little too large with it on. I much prefer the way the top still draped nicely in my second trimester, haha! Although the skinny jeans did help balance out the volume a little, still wish I'd worn a different top.
Wearing this maternity wrap dress again! It is definitely going to be a regular occurrence in my pregnancy work wardrobe! Not long left to go at work now. After not feeling great in yesterday's outfit, I wanted to wear something that I knew I felt good in, so this dress was perfect :) And I kept on wearing my rouille Balenciaga as I love the orange colour.
Had a meeting with my manager today but still kept my outfit simple and comfortable - tee and pencil skirt! I wanted to recreate this entire outfit again, but decided I could make it look just a little different if I swapped out the tee ;) With the size of my wardrobe I certainly wasn't spoiled for choices for another top to wear, haha!
Another pencil skirt and tee combo! Loved it pre-pregnancy, love it still during pregnancy. I'm lucky to have a very relaxed business casual workplace so I can wear tees to the office Monday to Thursday. That's made maternity dressing a lot easier. I think if I had to wear business professional every day I would have had to invest in some key maternity pieces like suits and work pants, which would have been trickier to find.
I thought the embroidered detail on this top worked well with the print on the skirt, but it doesn't show up well in photos. Did forget how badly this shirt wrinkles with the bump though, felt a bit sloppy by the end of the day!
Simple outfit for Wednesday as I had a lot of running around to do at work. This tee is another one of the things mum picked up for me on our shopping trip the other weekend. I love my grey tees! :) Added a bit of colour with my orange Balenciaga bag. It's been getting a bit ignored lately, I've been using smaller bags more often.
Wanted to wear blue today, so picked out this dress and bag. Added the blazer as it was a little chilly this morning. I'm glad I own a few dresses and tops that have a bit of wiggle room to accommodate the growing bump! :)
After some storms blew in on Tuesday it was really cool on Wednesday, so I ended up adding a cardigan to keep warm. And as a colleague pointed out, made a very purple outfit when paired with my bag! :)
Orange and black today as it was Halloween, haha! I wore orange last year too. We don't really dress up here in Australia, although I did see someone wearing devil horn headband on the bus and my bestie saw a man in lederhosen!
Work has been a little hectic this week - so Tuesday it was time to pull out a comfortable outfit! This tee is another one of my purchases from my DFO shopping trip on the weekend. As usual, I bought lots in Jeanswest, haha. Tried to take a photo to show off the colourblocking, as the back of this tee is pink. You can see a better pic on instagram.
I've shared a couple of times on the blog about the presentation group we have had in the office the past two months. Today was the final session where we had to present to the entire department and show them what we had learned. I was extremely nervous! Wore heels for a bit of a confidence boost, and a pretty dress. Was so pleased by everyone who turned up to support us, and all of the encouraging things people said afterwards. I know I have a lot further to go, but I've really improved my public speaking. Had a big slice of cake afterwards as a reward! :)
Thought I'd share with you that the Melbourne designed Kiargo and Funkita Form swimwear labels are having an end of season sale! Although it's been too cold to swim in the pool this month and I've just been using it as a photo backdrop, I'm hoping in September I'll be able to enjoy taking a dip now and then. No harm in stocking up on swimwear now while it's on sale ;) I really like the Mansfield bikini for classic pool-side glamour.
Two monochrome work wear outfits! One on purpose, one accidental. Neither of which I'd wear again without changing the outfits in some way, but that's the point of style challenges - they push you to try something different. I'm enjoying the Fox in Flats May instagram style challenge. I'm playing along every day on instagram, and just behind a bit with blogging everything I'm wearing.
The style dare for the day was 'monochromatic' and I thought this little black dress would be perfect with this shirt layered underneath. I didn't actually try the outfit on the night before, I just thought the pieces would work well together and set it aside to wear. It wasn't until the morning that I realised this shirt is not the best to wear under the dress. It doesn't have a collared neck and it's just polyester, so it was slipping and sliding under the dress and just not sitting nicely at all - you can see a bit of it at the shoulders in the picture. It was a lovely idea, and I've enjoyed layering things under this dress before, but this was just not the best shirt to try layering under this dress.
The belt was something I added at the last minute for a bit of interest and to try (unsuccessfully) to keep the shirt in place through the day. It's so old I am sure I wore it in high school! I just turned the buckle round to the back so that the studs were at the front. No-one commented on my back to front belt thankfully, but I did feel a little worried someone would notice and ask why the buckle was at the back of my dress!
This was an accidental monochrome outfit! Another neutral one. I had been wanting to wear this vintage set again after having fond memories of the last time I wore the pieces together. I also wanted to wear my new-to-me blazer that I found on ebay. It's the same as my black blazer, only cream. The beigey-brown outfit seemed like a good backdrop for my bright bag.
The style dare for the dare was 'bold bag' and this is my brightest and biggest bag, perfect to meet the challenge. I actually listed this bag in my ebay wardrobe clear out, thinking it would sell quickly as it's in great shape for a chevere Balenciaga. I hadn't worn it since I was pregnant so figured I should let it go. But since it didn't sell, I'm just going to keep it :) I was most likely going to replace it with another Balenciaga anyway, ha!
I think I would have liked this outfit more with a different jacket. I really liked the look of vintage printed skirt suit set together last time I wore it, but this time around I was wishing I'd gone for something different, I think it was all just a bit too dull together, even with the bold bag.
Wanted to wear some of my latest purchases on Wednesday. Picked up this striped dress in the Jeanswest sale. It's very similar to the one in black I already own, as I really like the style. I'm definitely guilty of buying the same thing in different colours when I like something!
More new purchases! I couldn't resist The Iconic and Jeanswest sales last week, so I got a few new wardrobe additions. Both parcels arrived on Tuesday which was nice. Thought that this tee and the skirt paired nicely together. And the tee goes so well with my carob brown Fran bag! :)
Pretty much wearing the exact same outfit as the last time I wore this dress, only with a leather jacket this time. It just works so well with boots and a Balenciaga, haha. A nice easy outfit so you can see why I've repeated it. The photos don't show the detail the best, so as requested on my last post, I took a close up of the print on the jacket on instagram.
Only found out that Wittner made leather jackets when this beautiful blue was one posted on their instagram a while ago. I kept thinking about it and eventually ordered it, along with the leather jacket from Asos above. I usually have a difficult time finding nice leather jackets so I thought if I get two, I might get lucky with one of them and could return the one that didn't work. Of course I kept them both. The colour and leather on this jacket are amazing. Bags are my go-to splurge items, but I made an exception in this case. I'm so pleased with it! :)
Unfortunately, today we had a really important meeting this afternoon, I had forgotten about. Since we were asked to dress more formally than the usual casual Friday wear, my friend and I popped out at lunchtime to shop so I could get a jumper to cover up my bare shoulders with! :)
Nice easy dress option again today! We had a manager from another state over so thought this was a nice professional look. A little over exposed with the photo though, I mis-judged in my rush to get the camera setup for photos as quickly as possible as a little rain shower had set in. Cooper didn't want to be in the photo as he had a nice dry spot under a tree and he wasn't moving for anyone! He isn't a fan of the rain.
Had a big presentation to do on Tuesday, to around 100 people. I was so nervous. The night before I tried on 3 different outfits as I kept changing my mind. After picking one, I changed my mind again in the morning as I got dressed, and went back to this one!
This was a good choice, I felt as confident as I could speaking in front of all those people. It could have gone better, but considering my nerves and the size of the audience I think I did well. :)
Lots of orange today! Last night I read Sheila's first monochrome outfit post and was thinking about what monochrome outfit I could possibly put together for the challenge.... All blue would have been easy (you know I have lots of blue!) but I wanted to try something different.
This dress has been pretty neglected in the cooler weather but now it's spring I will be trying to wear it a lot more. I thought it would work well with my rusty orange Balenciaga bag, and the camel flats are a kind of orangey-tan. I did cheat and add a little beige with a scarf to keep me warm on the way to work in the morning.
What do you think, is it a successful monochrome look?
Wearing a new purchase and an old favourite today! Took the photos without my trench today to show off the layering better. This jumper is one of the great pieces I picked up at the op-shop at the local festival the other weekend. I think it is actually supposed to be a cropped jumper, but as I'm petite it worked out to be the perfect length for layering! :)
Messy hair and messy scarf today! Although a lady in the office complimented how "put together" I looked, I certainly didn't feel it today. Was lovely of her to say something though. Added the scarf to keep me warm in the office and in meeting rooms, but didn't need it outside during the day and in the early evening. It's starting to warm up nicely now. If only it was as warm early in the mornings too, I'd be more likely to get out of bed and have time to fix my hair before work....haha!
