Jeanswest Jacket, Pencil Skirt, Purple Tank, Balenciaga City | French Connection Print Dress, Rouille Work

Here's what I wore to work on Tuesday:

Jacket: Jeanswest Dixie collarless jacket (new purchase)
NecklaceHouse of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey
Top: Cotton On Alexa pocket tank in potent purple (new purchase)
Belt: Kmart thin black glitter belt
SkirtJeanswest zip detail ponte pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs patent mouse flats
Bracelets: the usual
BagBalenciaga purple RH city in 2008 sapphire

Had a big presentation to do on Tuesday, to around 100 people. I was so nervous. The night before I tried on 3 different outfits as I kept changing my mind. After picking one, I changed my mind again in the morning as I got dressed, and went back to this one!
This was a good choice, I felt as confident as I could speaking in front of all those people. It could have gone better, but considering my nerves and the size of the audience I think I did well. :)

Linking up with Spotlight Weekly Link-up, Three-fer Thursday, What I wore to work, Fashion Informant today.

Last worn: glitter belt, pencil skirt, mouse flats, Balenciaga sapphire city bag. First time I've worn the top and jacket as they are recent purchases.

Here's what I wore to work today:

ScarfNali feather print pashmina scarf (seen on instagram)
Necklacecustom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
DressFrench Connection 'Woodblock wonder' panache dress in white/geranium rose
Belt: Forever New 'White Croc' skinny belt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs Logo Plaque flats in camel
Bracelets: the usual
BagBalenciaga classic work in 2006 Rouille

Lots of orange today! Last night I read Sheila's first monochrome outfit post and was thinking about what monochrome outfit I could possibly put together for the challenge.... All blue would have been easy (you know I have lots of blue!) but I wanted to try something different.
This dress has been pretty neglected in the cooler weather but now it's spring I will be trying to wear it a lot more. I thought it would work well with my rusty orange Balenciaga bag, and the camel flats are a kind of orangey-tan. I did cheat and add a little beige with a scarf to keep me warm on the way to work in the morning.

What do you think, is it a successful monochrome look?

  1. Wow!!! Love your work outfit so much. They are very simple and elegant. Especially the second pics set. Just love the bright colors and not the normal boring clothes others wear at work.
Following you now, maybe you can follow us back.

    1. Thanks Kim! I could have presented a lot better, but at least I was aware of the things I was doing wrong from all the practice sessions I was doing. I worked on my presence and voice, and eye contact was pretty low but that's a small price to pay for having the courage to get up there and deliver the speech I think, haha.

  35. I like the challenge you set yourself and it definitely works. I love the coral like print of the dress, very purdy. And the first ensemble is definitely powerful, I can see how you drew some courage from it. I'd still be a complete mess despite what I wore if I had to speak to that many people!
