30 Ways To Wear: Mulberry Alexa In Foggy Grey
Back in 2012 I was excitedly stalking the Mulberry Alexa bag on the now closed Reebonz site, waiting for that perfect storm of a great sale and a good exchange rate to bring it down to my budget. I was thrilled to score this bag for $1,028 as I had a discount code on top of the sale price. It was the perfect shade of greyish purple and I wore it a lot, getting to over 45 wears before I sold it on. I don't remember how much I sold it for though, which makes cost per wear tricky to calculate as I can't deduct the money I got from selling it! It works out at a $22.84 per wear just taking into account the price I paid and how many times I wore it, but I know that the new owner has worn it a bunch more too.
I sold the bag in 2016 so 45 wears in 4 years isn't too bad considering how often I rotate my bags. The turn lock closure and magnetic straps were just a bit too much each time I wanted to use the bag when my son was a newborn so it wouldn't have gotten much wear if I had decided to keep it. I probably won't stop searching it on resale sites now and then though, hoping I stumble across one at a bargain price in great condition!
30 Ways to Wear Mulberry Alexa Bag: Video Style
Here's some of the ways I wore this beautiful foggy grey lilac toned Mulberry Alexa bag while it was in my wardrobe:
Neutral Dresses and Purple Toned Alexa Bag
A colourful bag is a go-to for me with a neutral outfit! And these neutral black and brown dresses are the perfect backdrop to showcase the lovely purpley-grey colour of this Mulberry Alexa bag. Because it's such a grey based purple, it stands out without making too much of a statement.
Office Outfits With Mulberry Small Alexa Bag
While it was in my wardrobe, I found the Mulberry Alexa was a great bag to wear to work. The muted purple colour worked well as it wasn't too bold and bright and attention grabbing. It's a nice classic style for toting everything to work and really roomy too!
Purple Toned Alexa Bag With Other Purple Clothing Pieces In An Outfit
I like a bit of matchy-matchy, but this Mulberry Alexa bag is such a unique shade of purple I didn't have anything in my wardrobe that matched it exactly! It does compliment other purple pieces in an outfit though, even if not the same shade. From the lilac tee, to the deeper purple skinny jeans, or even the berry cardigan that's more on the magenta side, this grey-ish purple goes perfectly!
Purple Scarf Outfits With Foggy Grey Alexa
Just like the outfits above, none of these purple scarves match the Alexa bag, even the lilac one around the grey dress in the middle. Again though I still think the extra shades of purple from the scarves go nicely with the different purple-grey shade of the bag.
Purple Toned Alexa Bag With Pink Outfits
Pink and purple is always a good colour combination - and these 4 outfits showcase that well, from bold neon pink, to a blush pink. The pink and purple colour combo with this bag works well in any pink shade.
Printed Dresses and Mulberry Alexa Bag
Because the Mulberry Alexa bag in foggy grey is one block colour with neutral toned hardware, it's easy to pair with printed pieces like these dresses. All three dresses here are different prints and colours but the Alexa is a great accessory with all three!
Mulberry Alexa Bag Worn In Winter Outfits
I'm not someone who thinks some colours can only be worn seasonally. While this purple toned bag is great for warmer weather, it works equally well in winter! As you saw with the neutral dress outfits above, I like it with dark winter neutrals like black, grey and navy as it provides just a little extra colour without being too bright.
Pregnancy Outfits with Mulberry Alexa Bag
I wore this Mulberry Alexa bag a lot in pregnancy - no matter how big my belly got, this bag always worked! Bags are a good investment as you can wear them for years.
I bought my second luxury bag recently from Fashionphile. I stalked the sites and was so thrilled when the bag went on sale. It helped that they had their reserve feature too so I could snag it while on sale and pay as blog income came in. I can't imagine ever buying one brand new, I saved so much money and it's in excellent condition.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the new owner of your bag is enjoying it so much!

Yes you can grab so many great bag bargains on sale or preloved! :)
DeleteI love that everything you own, you make sure gets used before you pass it along to someone else. You are so intentional about your wardrobe and that really inspires me!
ReplyDeletethe creation of beauty is art.
Yes! I'm really trying to be more intentional with my purchases and buy things I will use so that even if they end up not working out for me I know I got good value from them!
DeleteHey Mica, how you doing?
ReplyDeleteI remember that this bag was really successful a few years ago and it is nice to see that you were able to use it over the years and adding a touch of creativity in every single look! I'd say the quality of Mulberry really compensates the price and the design is 100% versatile!
Hope the new owner is happy with it!
Take care!

Yes Mulberry is great quality - the bag still looked new when I sold it! But it definitely is a splurge!
DeleteIt was a really cool bag! It funny how we all have different things we might spend money on. I cannot imagine a luxury bag because I think of it in terms of plane tickets that can be bought but then I realize that I spend more than that on clothes in one year =)
ReplyDeletewww.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
haha yes, while we haven't been on a plane in years (although Covid has something to do with that!) We are more homebodies.
DeleteIt's such a great bag and color! Almost sad you sold it because we won't see it anymore, haha!

I often regret selling it but it was better to let it go.
DeleteI love that rich grey-purple colour - it's the same shade as my Sonia Rykiel bag, which reminds me I should wear it! That is a really pretty bag, but I hear you on the multiple "tests" to open it - I've given away bags that I can't get into quickly. I'm glad it's gone to a new home, and it was a fun treat to see "Mica over the years"!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend, my friend!
Thanks Sheila! It was such a great colour and worked so well in my wardrobe, but I really needed an easier style of bag to get into when kids came along!
DeleteYour satchel is so amazing and all the outfits too. Have a beautiful day!

I'm so impress with how you keep up with your hand bag wear. I have no idea how many wears I get out of my hand bags.

DeleteA very creative post! And how much inspiration!

It's an interesting bag. Sorry you got rid of it, but I guess it wasn't as amazing as you thought when you first got it?
ReplyDeleteOh it definitely was an amazing bag, but the flap just became annoying when I was juggling bag and baby - needed things that were easier to get in and out of once the kids came along!
DeleteLindos looks te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteYou really got your money's worth out of the bag. I'm sorry you didn't hang on to it though. I never get rid of my handbags. I put them in storage in case I ever do decide I miss then and want to reintegrate them back into the rotation or to pass down to my daughter's some day. Or if a friend really loves a bag, I'll pass it on to her when I know that I'm good and done with it.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel I should have hung onto it, but selling it made room in my wardrobe for more bags I'd use and love! :)
DeleteThe bag looks great and is a lovely color! Love all these ways you styled the bag.

Yes I'm really trying to be more intentional with my shopping and buy things that I can get a lot of use from, even if I end up eventually letting them go from my wardrobe like I did with this bag.

I love all shades of purple. And I do like that bag! Visiting you from the link up on the edge.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shade of purple-gray! I love it! It is a gorgeous bag, but I can see where it would get to be a bit much as an everyday bag with baby!
ReplyDeleteYes it's only now the kids are older I've been thinking about maybe replacing it, it was a nice bag, just not the best for life with baby!
DeleteI love the dusty purple color of that bag, Mica, I can see why you wanted it so much! I don't blame you though for selling it, it just didn't seem like the best functionality for you at the time--great you got so much use out of it while you had it!
ReplyDeleteYes I definitely got a lot of use from it while I had it, even if I realised it didn't work well with the adjustment to life with baby as much as I'd hoped!
DeleteYou are sooo creative! Love all the outfits, can't decide which I like the most, maybe winter outfits. Great use of bag!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day/night. 💗
