What I wore:
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in grey marl
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bag: Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull
Why I wore it:
I was surprised to find I hadn't worn this tee and navy striped maxi skirt together before! I thought it was what I wore last time we went to hospital, but it was a different tee I wore then. This very similar outfit was worn again to the same hospital, but a day stay this time. I shared some pics on Twitter and my Instagram stories, as one of the boys had his first surgery. There are a few times in adulthood I have a little panic to myself that "I'm not grown up enough for this", and having to comfort my child through an operation was one of those times. Thankfully, it was just a short day stay. The operation went well, and apart from being a little woozy afterwards, it was a smooth recovery.
I wasn't sure if I needed closed in shoes for the operating room, I forgot to ask with all the other questions I had, so I went with Converse just in case, even if I did take them off as soon as we got home. I picked comfortable clothes for all the sitting around waiting I was going to have to do, and my big Louis Vuitton neverfull to carry snacks and things to amuse me as I waited, with everything else in the baby bag. I've tried the neverfull as a baby bag before, as you can see in the video below, but I'm not a fan so it meant carrying two bags with me. Easy when I had the stroller to throw everything on.
It was a difficult day, made just a little easier by having a fuss-free outfit I was ready to face anything in. I'm just hoping to have no further days of hospital style!
Last worn: grey v-neck tee, navy stripe maxi skirt, Converse Chucks, Louis Vuitton neverfull tote.
Other ways to wear: grey v-neck tee and skinny jeans, navy stripe maxi skirt and band tee, Converse Chucks and pencil skirt, Louis Vuitton neverfull tote and wrap dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: grey v-neck tee in second trimester, Converse Chucks and maternity shorts, Louis Vuitton neverfull tote at 38 weeks pregnant.
What I wore:
Tee: Atmos&Here grey v-neck tee with rolled sleeves (also in black)
Skirt: thrifted Billabong red printed maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull
Why I wore it:
Onto happier days! I wore this the weekend before operation day. We'd planned a day out but after taking these photos and our morning walk, the rain showers started to we decided to stay home instead, after running a quick errand. In the end I think a quiet day was just what was needed as operation week was crazy.Very similar outfit formula to the one above, with a more voluminous printed maxi skirt and a slouchier grey tee. This was a lovely outfit for a humid day, nice loose layers. The only thing I didn't like so much was that the hem of my skirt got wet quickly when the rain started. I really need to get this skirt properly tailored. I'm currently doing the well-known petite girl hack of wearing it higher on my waist and rolling the waistband to keep it in place. It's definitely proven it's a keeper in my wardrobe, so I need to get it tailored to be just the right length.
Again I was wearing my Louis Vuitton neverfull tote, although this time around it had a lot less stuffed into it. That's the beauty of the neverfull, it always looks good no matter if you carry a little or a lot.
Last worn: slouchy grey tee, Billabong red maxi skirt, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton neverfull (above).
Other ways to wear: slouchy grey tee worn two ways, Billabong red maxi skirt and denim jacket, Louis Vuitton neverfull in the office.
Perfect for pregnancy: slouchy grey tee for second trimester travel, Louis Vuitton neverfull and maternity jeans.
Printed Maxi Skirts Under $50:
How You Can Wear It:
With a printed maxi skirt (or any printed piece in your wardrobe) pairing it with a grey tee is an easy outfit formula to follow that's guaranteed to look good. If grey tees aren't your thing, you could substitute with a similar neutral like black or white. I'm just such a fan of grey v-neck tees, they are what I reach for most often when wearing prints.

Love that bag, and I do hope your little one is okay - how scary for you! Sending good wishes to you all. x Jacqui

Thanks Jacqui. He is doing much better.
DeleteOh I know how stressful it is when one of the kids has to go to hospital, and I can imagine the feelings you have when they go through their first surgery. Glad to hear everything is OK.
ReplyDeleteHaha in my next post about baby bags I'll mention the LV Neverfull as a baby bag! I've used mine a few times as a baby bag but I think it's better when they're a bit older and you're not having to carry as much stuff. The straps are too thin for all the weight!
The straps are way to thin for everything I carry in a baby bag anyway, haha! I enjoyed your posts, such a good series! :)
DeleteHe's doing well after the surgery :)
The first one is probably the comfiest outfit!! I love t-shirts and long skirts for every day. Hope everything is ok with your little boy Mica, sending hugs!

Thanks! I have the brown damier print in the speedy, I think both are nice :)
DeleteI'm happy the operation went well and I'm wishing a speedy recovery! I just think long skirts are easy to wear in summer! I always feel so free. I especially love the first look and the bag just elevates it!

DeleteThose both look like such comfy, but stylish outfits! I love the first one especially. Your poor baby, I'm sure that was a scary experience! I'm glad to hear that he's recovering well though.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week Mica!
Thanks Shea. It was so hard but he's doing much better! :)
DeleteI'm so glad the surgery went well. My son had to have tubes in his ears, which is a very minor procedure but it made me so anxious! Anything with the babies adds stress! You chose the perfect outfit for the day.

I think any procedure, no matter how minor, is scary!
DeleteGreat styling with your maxi skirts dear. I love them too, as well as a good old maxi dress, so comfy and easy to style up or down. Wishing you a lovely rest of the week!!

The last thing on your mind is fashion when one of your children needs to have surgery and fuss-free is the way to go. I hope he had a quick recovery after the procedure.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rowena! It was good having my little usual morning routine of taking a pic before we left to try calm my nerves, but it is so stressful! He has recovered well thank you :)
DeleteLove Maxi skirts! And grey is such a great staple to almost pair with everything! Glad to hear the operation went well :)

I don’t think we are ever old enough to comfort our kids through a operation, but that is adulthood: Comforting someone else when you actually want to be comforted yourself.
ReplyDeleteAnne / http://lindalibraloca.com
Said so well Anne! It is tough being a grown up sometimes!
DeleteI'm happy to hear that your little boy had a smooth recovery, Mica! What a stressful time for all of you. It's so hard to stay strong when you're worried about your child, but you got through it, which shows how strong you are. Both outfits are perfect for summer, Mica! I've worn maxi skirts a lot this summer too, as they are comfy and cool. Hope you've had a great week so far, Mica! :) XXX
ReplyDeleteThanks Sasha. He's been a trooper! And he's feeling much better :)
DeleteTwo Beautiful outfits that you share here today. I love the printed maxiskirt‘s as the focal point. The styling is excellent. I like both pendant necklaces and of course that fabulous Louis Vuitton never Full bag , stay cool!

Thank you Marisa, he is doing much better!
DeleteI can only imagine how you must've felt trying to calm your little one before the surgery. I know it must've been tough and something I don't believe any mom can be grown up enough to do. I'm glad the surgery went well and he's okay. You know, I've been thinking about getting the Neverfull in the GM size and use it as a diaper bag, too, now that Aviah is getting a little older and I don't need to carry as many things. I'll have to look into your video, though you're not too fond of it now. I'll have to see. Thanks for sharing and I hope you had a great week so far!

Thanks Jalisa! It was tough, but he's doing really well now. If you don't need to carry much it might work for you, I just can't carry everything I usually do in it, haha!
DeleteI hope all is well post operation! The Neverfull looks really versatile, but I could imagine wanting smaller pouches to help organize!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) Yep, as I showed in the video, lots of pouches helps keep it organised!
DeleteI'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well. :) <3
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteLoving that red maxi skirt!

I'm glad to here everything went well, sounds like a very hectic week. I love both outfits, they look very comfortable and perfect for hot weather. Hope you have a relaxing weekend, you deserve it!

Getting things tailored is always something I mean to do, but never get around to. That red skirt is gorgeous though so I hope you are able to make it happen so fits you perfectly! I love it with the grey tee. Sorry I haven't been keeping up on instagram or twitter and just found out about your son's surgery! Glad to hear everything went well. I hope recovery is quick and smooth!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura - don't stress, I know how busy life gets with two little ones - and being back at work! Thanks for your kind words. He's recovered well.
DeleteNeverfull looks lovely here. It's actually my least favorite model from Louis Vuitton because it normally just hard to style and look out of place. You nailed and showed the bright side of the bag
ReplyDeleteThe simplicity of this outfit is sooo adorable! Love your bag too!
ReplyDeleteJessica | notjessfashion.com
I've always been a fan of navy & grey. You've also proven that it looks great with COLOR, such as red or orange. I need a grey tshirt in my wardrobe! You're always giving me ideas Mica. Love both outfits.

Thanks Kim :) I couldn't imagine not having grey tees in my wardrobe! :)
DeleteThanks all for your kind comments and good wishes. My son recovered well from the surgery.
