The beauty of a grey tee is that it works with colourful pieces or with a monochrome outfit equally well, and you can see that in the outfits below.
What I wore:
Sunnies: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus teething necklace in popTee: Jeanswest 'Lucy' colour block tee in grey marle/rosebud
Jeans: Jeanswest blackberry super skinny jeans
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats (on sale!)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC (on sale, 20% off!)
Why I wore it:
Was a little unsure what to wear on this day, had a playdate in the park with some new mum friends I'd met online. I figured a bright and colourful outfit would be easiest to be noticed for meeting up, so picked the purple jeans. I saw the pink blazer hanging up in my wardrobe when trying to put and outfit together and just had to wear that too. I really like pink and purple together. With all of the colour, the grey tee was the perfect neutral to sit in between. The metallic silver mini MAC bag and ballet flats were great neutral accessories with the colourful outfit too. The only thing I didn't like about this outfit was that it turned into a really hot day. I quickly took the blazer off and after an hour in the park I was regretting the choice to wear jeans! The grey tee has a pink back too so I was still wearing pink and purple even without the blazer.
Last worn: Ray-ban Wayfarers, blush pink blazer, grey colourblock tee, purple skinny jeans, metallic ballet flats, silver mini MAC bag.
Other ways to wear: blush pink blazer and LBD, colourblock tee and printed shorts, purple skinny jeans in spring, metallic ballet flats and chambray skirt, silver mini MAC bag and pink vest.
Perfect for pregnancy: blush blazer and third trimester office wear, colourblock grey tee in third trimester, mini MAC and maxi dress in second trimester.

What I wore:
Sunnies: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Wilma teething necklace in pale daffodilTee: Atmos&Here grey v-neck tee with rolled sleeves (also in black)
Jeans: Jeanswest prima denim super skinny jeans in absolute black
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats (on sale!)
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch C/O JORD
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC (on sale, 20% off!)
Why I wore it:
Same silver bag and shoes, but a different grey tee and a more monochromatic neutral outfit with only a little colour through the floral print on the kimono and the yellow teething necklace. It shows you how versatile these silver accessories are, that they work equally well with neutrals and brights. Some people prefer gold over silver, but no matter your metal preference I think a metallic bag is a must-have, just as much as a grey tee! This was a nice easy outfit for playgroup. While not as colourful as the pink and purple outfit above, I did like wearing this and thought the touches of yellow with the kimono and necklace were just enough colour with the black and grey. I wore the kimono to meet the #LBLforLess style challenge prompt of 'favourite floral' - it's frequently worn and easily my favourite floral piece! The jeans were also nice to wear, didn't overheat in this as it wasn't such a hot day thankfully.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer (above), floral kimono, Atmos&Here grey tee, black Prima skinny jeans, silver ballet flats (above), Rebecca Minkoff silver mini MAC (above).
Other ways to wear: floral kimono in summer with fitted tank, Atmos&Here grey tee and shorts, black Prima skinny jeans and leather jacket, silver ballet flats and pink leopard print, Rebecca Minkoff silver mini MAC and striped maxi skirt.
Perfect for pregnancy: floral kimono and maternity shorts, grey tee for second trimester travel, skinny jeans and belly band with an early bump, silver mini MAC and maxi dress in third trimester.

How You Can Wear It:
A grey tee is a wardrobe staple - it works so well with jeans, but you don't have to restrict it to just blue jeans. Try a colourful outfit with pinks and purple, or go neutral with black and grey. I've even worn a classic grey tee to the office with a blazer and pencil skirt - they really are a versatile must-have! Want more outfit inspiration? All the ways I've worn a grey tee.

I don't think I own one grey tee, but I do have three different grey sweaters, which is probably the aequivalent given the climate I live in.

If I still had my burgundy trousers I would use your first look and copy it !! Love how these colours come together.
ReplyDeleteGrey is probably my most worn color. I was laughing to myself the other day about how much grey I have. It just goes with so much as you have shown here! Love both of these looks and how you have styled them.

Love those purple jeans!! And yes, gray is a lifesaver when it comes to mixing a lot of colors! Sometimes I feel like its better than black or white since it's not so stark.

I adore grey and my love for it spills into our home too. Our new home interior is decorated with two different shades of grey because I find the colour to be neural and easy to decorate with. I have quite a lot of grey tees as well, it's just so easy to match them.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite T shirts are grey! Love the hand bag too!
ReplyDeleteA grey tee is definitely a closet staple! It can go with so many outfits! I love how you styled yours.

I adore your purple jeans. Paired with the pink top, it's perfection. Folks don't wear grey enough which is a shame cos its a great color. I'm all for the first look much as the second is equally beautiful. Hope you had fun at the park even though it got hot.

I'm well aware how versatile a grey t-shirt is (I even think they're pretty rock and roll) yet I do not own one, despite how easy it would be to get hold of one! You're post is a reminder of the power of a simple item that my wardrobe deserves!

A grey tee is so versatile. Even though I wear a lot of colour I still really like grey. Love the kimono print and also the pink and purple outfit. Reminds me I think I have jeans in a similar dark purple shade which I should wear again.
ReplyDeleteA grey tee is definitely a wardrobe staple!
ReplyDeleteI have a grey tee that I haven't done much with but pair with plain jeans so this is giving me some awesome inspiration. Looking wonderful as usual!
ReplyDeleteI love a classic grey tee! It is so versatile, as you've shown here!

ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration! I love my grey tee! I would never try to combine pink and purple but it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou have done grey so well. I dont like to wear grey as it washes me out. I guess it works better with colour, thanks for the inspo
ReplyDeleteReally love that first outfit, the colour combination is lovely and the grey neutral works perfectly with the other colours. Have you been using the app "Mush"? It's meant to be the Tinder for mums :D
ReplyDeleteEileen | 5feetofstyle.com
haha yes! It was a Mush meet-up!
DeleteGah, I need to get more gray tees into my wardrobe - I've been collecting plain white tees but you're right in that plain gray tees with a flattering neckline is quite versatile as well! Love both looks, as per usual! :]

I'm a neutral type of gal and love wearing gray! This is so cute and the pink cardigan is a nice, spring/summer touch that I really love! I love your statement necklaces! Great choices, simple and cute!
ReplyDeleteIt truly is Mica! I learned this from you and it's really helped expand the number of outfits I can wear.

I love the way you've teamed the tee in both these outfits. I have two grey tees but they're both have Mickey Mouse on, does that count?!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more! A grey tee is my go to, that or a navy blue tee. They just work with everything, especially jeans haha! Love the colours in the first outfit too, I'm always wary of wearing so much colour... I clearly need to live a little louder from now on! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI only own two grey tees and I hate it! lol I keep telling myself I'm going to add more to my wardrobe, but since it's a basic, I constantly forget when I'm scouring the shelves of local shops. I have been watching a lot of closet detoxes lately and one girl says she keeps a list in her phone of clothing items she needs rather than wants, and only allows herself to purchase the needs. Smart, seeing as nearly all my impulse blouses, and similar items don't ever last long in my rotation. Not like my basics. (;
ReplyDeleteI need to do that! I'm always impulse buying haha!
DeleteI love both looks! I especially adore how you accentuated the grey top with colorful necklace.
ReplyDeleteI love grey, it is such a great colour to work with! That kimono is perfection! Xx
