What I wore:
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus teething necklace in popTank: Jeanswest 'Jenni' basic singlet in Hawaii blue
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs pearl, howlite and hematite beaded bracelets
Bag: Balenciaga truffle brown RH classic day bag (currently 30% off!)
Why I wore it:
This was an outfit I loved. I've worn a very similar outfit before and liked it just as much then. We had a relaxed day, a playdate at a friend's house in the morning. While I don't like breastfeeding in fitted tanks like this, we were back home before baby boy needed another feed. The pink and purple teething necklace and brown Balenciaga bag were good accessories to stop the outfit looking too monochrome with the blue tank and navy skirt. There isn't anything I'd change about this outfit! It's so simple but also so perfect for a stay at home mum.
You hear a lot about 'shopping your closet' and wearing things you already love, and it's something I'm doing with my #6monthsWithoutShoppingChallenge. It's good to get inspired by your own outfits too, and recreate something you loved in the past.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, blue fitted tank, navy stripe maxi skirt, Havaianas, Balenciaga truffle brown day bag.
Other ways to wear: blue fitted tank and sheer tee, navy stripe maxi skirt worn two ways, Balenciaga truffle brown day bag for a weekend trip.
Striped Maxi Skirts Under $50:
What I wore:
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Ruby Olive Softies Charlotte teething necklaceTop: Cotton On stripe sailor tank in dusky green / grey marle
Skirt: Jeanswest Luxe maxi jersey skirt
Shoes: Wittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red (on sale in pink, and there's a spend and save sale on now at Rebecca Minkoff!)
Why I wore it:
This was a new outfit idea I wanted to try. It's a similar outfit formula to the one I loved so much above with stripes and a maxi skirt, but I don't think the pieces worked as well together.Olive green and red is a colour combination I'd seen around on a few blogs (like Carylee's) and got inspired to try. I was worried it would look to Christmasy with the green and red, but I think the olive and poppy red worked nicely without looking like a Christmas tree!
The tank is one I haven't worn for a while - I was pregnant when I last wore it. I thought it would look nice tucked in with the black maxi skirt. At the last minute I decided to pull it out a little and make a blouson effect to see if it looked better, but as you can see from the photos it really didn't help! I didn't have time to change without being late to playgroup, so I just stuck with wearing it how you see here. Not one of my favourite outfits, although I did like the new-to-me colour combination. Just one of those 'okay' outfits.
Last worn:Ray-Ban Wayfarer (above), striped tank, drawstring waist maxi skirt, studded sandals, Rebecca Minkoff red saddle bag.
Other ways to wear: striped tank and printed jeans, drawstring waist maxi skirt worn two ways, studded sandals and denim shorts, Rebecca Minkoff red saddle bag and jeans.

Wardrobe staples like stripes are perfect for those days where you need to get out the door quickly. It's best to check your final outfit in the mirror so you're still wearing something you feel happy in, no matter how much you like each piece separately.

I like the color combination of the second one as well, but prefer the first one. Tank tops and maci skirts are my preferred uniform in the summer as well.

Both great looks! I adore the first one though, that skirt looks amazing on you. I am always scared to wear stripes on my legs because I am scared it will make me look wider then I already am lol! You look stunning!
ReplyDeleteFlorals&Smiles
Oh you should give them a try! I don't think they do :)
DeleteI love maxi skirts! They're so cute but most importantly comfy!! I'm going to have to try pairing them with some stripes!

I think you did a great job breaking up an otherwise monochromatic look with the jewelley/necklace. I love maxi skirts and you wear them well. Happy weekend! <3

I am also a big fan of maxi skirts and dresses. I believe they elongate you in the right places and make you look taller than you actually are. You look great! By the way where did you get the neck piece in the first look?

Hi Mica! You look lovely in both outfits, and stripes and maxi skirts are very becoming on you! I adore the navy skirt and blue tank top combination, with the addition of the colourful necklace! This outfit is ideal for an active day out, but still has a certain playfulness and femininity to it, which I love.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a fab weekend so far.
Lots of love Saba xx

Super cute outfits! :)

Have you lost some weight, Mica? You look much slimmer in the first outfit and honestly you look amazing! I have to agree with you on the second outfit, it's less flattering than the first but it's still lovely.

haha thank you! I don't think I have, I don't have scales at home but my denim shorts seem to fit the same :)
DeleteYou look so pretty lovely! I especially love your necklace it is really unique & makes your outfit perfect! XX
ReplyDeleteI am so biased to talk about stripes or comfortable outfits, because I love comfortable items and stripes galore :) I loved both outfits, the first one with the skirt - really lovely! And the necklace is also great! The second one, I loved the top and the bag - red is my favorite color! You look really sweet and beautiful! Hope you have a very nice weekend!

I'm always afraid to pair red and green, but I love the olive and poppy red combo, I may have to try that! You're also reminding me that I need to wear my striped maxi skirt, I haven't worn it in a while! Have a good weekend Mica!
ReplyDeleteYes definitely get that pretty skirt out again! Glad I could give you some colour inspiration too! :)
DeleteYour first look is definitely my favourite! I love how bright, bold and beautiful the blue combo is with the b-e-autiful bag to finish it perfectly!

Mica, you wear stripes well! I can only wear small ones, but all sizes look great on you. The second outfit does not look christmas-y at all. Great job

Yes I'm glad I gave the colour combo a go!
DeleteMy clothing all seems to be shrinking before my eyes. (; I've been doing a lot of the shop your closet/ rewear the same under shirt three days a week because it fits. (; haha
ReplyDeletehaha yes that happens in pregnancy! Don't worry about it, you could wear the same thing everyday and no-one would bat an eye, growing a baby is hard work! :)
DeleteYep, this is a true staple for you Mica. If I may add, bright crossbody bags too !
ReplyDeleteYes I have been favouring my cross body bags a lot lately with the boys keeping my hands full!
