Printed Dresses and Boots: Wearing Pregnancy Purchases Post-Baby

Over my pregnancies I never stopped buying clothes. I do love shopping! I tried to buy things I knew would work post-baby most of the time. It's strange wearing those pieces for the first time without a baby bump, and always a relief to find that they still work.

What I wore:

Atmos&Here Betsy jersey wrap dress Second Birthday party breastfeeding friendly outfit | Away From The Blue

Aquamarine Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC clutch bag silver bracelet stack | AwayFromTheBlue
DressAtmos&Here Betsy jersey wrap dress in watercolour print (on sale!)
ShoesRMK Chester black ankle boots (on sale!)
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather

Why I wore it:

This dress was perfect for the 'it's a wrap' style challenge prompt, although I didn't wear it on the same day. I wore this for toddler T's second birthday! It's hard to believe he's 2 already, he's growing so fast. For his first birthday party, we kept things simple and did everything ourselves. Despite thinking I wouldn't be able to do the same this time with a baby as well, we managed to pull it off. It did mean a busy week as I did some baking in advance, but it was worth it as both boys enjoyed the party.

I knew I wanted to wear this dress for toddler T's party. It's strange seeing it without a baby bump though, after buying it in the third trimester. As I hoped when I bought it, it will still get lots of wear post-baby. A wrap dress is a classic!

Why I wore it:

This dress is another one I bought when I was pregnant. However, this is it's first wear despite having the 'wear everything twice in a month after buying it' rule. In the 2 years I've had that rule, this is the only piece that's sat there new with tags in my wardrobe after a month. Since I bought it in November I really should have worn it before now... I'd bought it in the second trimester, tried it on and while it was snug, I could still fit into it, so set it aside to wear in a few days. By the tine I got around to wearing it though the bump didn't fit into it! A baby belly grows so quickly in the second trimester, I really should have sized up.

Every pregnancy is different, and every experience post-baby is different too. While with toddler T I was back into normal clothes and button up shirts quite quickly, with baby boy things are a little bigger in the chest area! It means that while in theory this button up shirt dress is perfect for breastfeeding, I had to wait until things calmed down a little before I was able to squeeze myself into it! Glad I've been able to wear it now at least - it's easy to layer up for winter despite being from the Jeanswest spring range.

Last worn: yellow scarf, tall boots, Mulberry Alexa bag. First time I've worn the dress as it's the first time I've fit into it!

Other ways to wearyellow scarf and a red dress, tall boots and skinny jeans, Mulberry Alexa bag and a maxi dress.

Skinny Jeans, Colourful Scarves and Cosy Cardigans | 4th July Sales

With the cooler winter weather in Brisbane, I've been wearing my jeans a lot. After our summer heatwaves continued into autumn and I spent most of autumn in shorts, it's a nice change. Jeans also make getting dressed in the mornings with two little ones really easy. And adjusting to life with two under 2 means I'll stick with the easy path for the moment!

What I wore:

Jacket: Jeanswest Alice longline Australian wool cardigan
ScarfAlexander McQueen modal skull scarf in white/pink
ShirtJeanswest Helene sleeveless textured shirt in berry (on sale with an extra 40% off!)
JeansJeanswest Super Skinny Jeans in Mid Indigo
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats (on sale!)
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was 'pink till it hurts' which I had originally planned to do by wearing all pink accessories. After putting the pink tank and scarf on though I quickly realised adding any more pink to the mix would be a bit of an overkill! Was a nice casual (and with the buttons on the tank for breastfeeding, practical) outfit for errands in the morning and spending some time with family in the afternoon.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, wool cardigan, pink skull scarf, pink sleeveless shirt, skinny jeans, metallic ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff aqua mini MAC.

Other ways to wearwool cardigan and a maxi skirt, pink skull scarf and navy stripes, pink shirt and lace pencil skirt in the office, skinny jeans and a floral kimono, metallic ballet flats and a tartan skirt, Rebecca Minkoff aqua mini MAC and denim shorts.

It's the 4th July long weekend in the US, so there are a few sales on:

Happy shopping!

Scarf: blue tartan scarf
Tee: Monsterthreads star print graphic tee
JeansJeanswest prima denim super skinny jeans in absolute black
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather

Why I wore it:

I went with a simple scarf to meet the prompt for the 'plaid is rad' challenge. I really like this pretty tartan scarf my sister brought me back from her travels in Europe.

This was a really simple outfit for a simple day. We had been having a tough couple of days and although I had planned at the start of the week to go out to playgroup, decided to stay home instead. Having a baby is a great reason to be kind and take time for yourself when you need it, and not try do too much. Having two under 2 is an even bigger reason! Since toddler T enjoys doing some activities out of the house each day, I decided to take the boys to the local park. It was a bit chilly so toddler T had the slide all to himself too.  It was a nice quiet alternative to a noisy playgroup and gave us a chance to relax a little.

Long Cardis, Prima Denim Skinny Jeans and Scarves

Two more outfits I wore for the Winter Style File style challenge. It's nice that the winter weather has arrived and I can wear my ankle boots again! My prima denim skinny jeans, Chelsea leather ankle boots, tees and cosy cardis make easy SAHM winter outfits!

What I wore:

Oscar's Law graphic tee Jeanswest prima skinny jeans grey cardi SAHM winter style | Away From Blue

Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather | AwayFromTheBlue
ScarfMarc by Marc Jacobs bright blue stole
TeeOscar's Law 'Break the puppy trade' tee
JeansJeanswest Bindi skinny 7/8 jeans in indigo luxe
ShoesAsos leather Chelsea boots in tan
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was 'put a scarf on it'. Easy to do with the cold weather making me want to layer!

I thought this was going to be a quiet and relaxing day, but after getting home in the morning and settling down to feed baby boy I checked my phone as I knew I had a doctor's appointment coming up that week. Only to find that my appointment was in 15 minutes! Thankfully the traffic lights were in my favour and we were only 5 minutes late for my appointment, and as the doctor was running a little late I was able to sit there in the waiting room and feed the now very cranky baby boy.

JeansJeanswest prima denim super skinny jeans in absolute black

Why I wore it:

Another cosy cardi, skinny jeans, ankle boots and scarf outfit! Needed something simple as we had to stop by the shops on our way to playgroup that morning and I was in a bit of a rush. While the tan ankle boots don't look too bad I think black ones would have been better.

The style challenge for the day was to wear your favourite coat. I wore this a lot last winter, although this was it's first wearing this year. It's a "coatigan" which is a word that makes me giggle ever since I first heard it. A cosy cardi that's thick and warm enough to be a coat! It came in helpful as it was such a windy day.

Last worn: black and white cardigan, star print scarf, maroon tee, black prima skinny jeans, Chelsea ankle boots (above), Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC (above).

Other ways to wearblack and white cardigan and a maxi skirt, star print scarf and floral tank, maroon tee and metallic gold jeans, black prima skinny jeans and a printed cami, Chelsea ankle boots and a blue dress, aquamarine mini MAC bag and red jeans.
