What I wore:
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus teething necklace in pop
Top: Jeanswest Florence print long line tank
Jeans: Nobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (C/O, on sale!)
Shoes: Walnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff neon pink mini MAC (on sale, 25% off!)
Why I wore it:
Cooper was being so cute I had to include this pic on the blog! He was staring at me intently while I was trying to take outfit photos this morning for some reason. Adorable.I loved this outfit. I had time to do my hair in the morning, and an incredible day planned out down the coast for a girly day of shopping (I still have lots of gift cards I'd planned to spend to celebrate the end of #6MonthsWithoutShopping). I wasn't sure if it would be warmer on the coast so took a cardigan, although I did take it off in the middle of the day. My tank ended up untucked too.
Sadly, the outfit was the only thing I loved about this day. This is the perfect example of photos never representing real life. I could talk about how much I liked the colour combo, it's simple and perfect SAHM style for a fun day of shopping....but nothing turned out how I expected. Just a reminder that no matter how great something looks online, you never know the full story!
Long story short, just before we went out shopping I had one of those slow-mo moments of motherhood where you see something happening but are too far away to stop it and time seems to slow down. Baby Boy fell face-first from a height onto his nose. Lots of screaming, tears and blood later we headed to the nearest doctors. More screaming during the x-rays, a half-hearted attempt at shopping and then we went home. Thankfully nothing broken, and I was in the best company all day, but I felt so horrible for not being able to stop the accident and for derailing everyone's day off plans.
Could have been a lot worse, and will be a funny story later I'm sure. Right now it's not so funny when everyone gasps at your baby's bruised face and asks what happened!
Last worn: purple cardigan, printed tank, Nobody Denim skinny jeans, black ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff neon pink mini MAC.
Other ways to wear: purple cardigan and chambray dress, printed tank and shorts, Nobody Denim skinny jeans and striped duster, black ballet flats and wrap dress, Rebecca Minkoff neon pink mini MAC and shorts.
Perfect for pregnancy: purple cardigan in first trimester, printed tank in third trimester, ballet flats and maternity pencil skirt.
Black and Grey Skinny Jeans Under $50:
What I wore:
Jacket: thrifted SES Fashions mustard yellow cardigan
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus teething necklace in pop
Tee: Jeanswest Flavia foil printed polka dot tee deep iris
Jeans: Jeanswest Cecile dove grey skinny jeans
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold
Why I wore it:
This was a much less eventful day! This pic was taken a while ago, as you can tell by Cooper's winter fur coat still being on!It follows a similar outfit formula to the outfit above, so of course I loved this too. When I bought this polka dot tee I was thinking of pairing it with my mustard yellow cardigan. I love blue and yellow together, and really liked the mustard and navy. And of course I just had to wear my mustard yellow micro Regan bag if I was wearing the yellow cardigan!
This was a simple but colourful outfit for baby boy's planned specialist appointment.
As it's the second time I've worn this tee on the blog, my purchase review:
I like to review everything I buy after wearing it twice to see how it's working for my wardrobe and learn any lessons that could avoid shopping regrets in future. Sometimes though, there are impulse buys like this tee that prove I don't need to over analyse everything before I buy!
This was my first and so far only purchase with my end of #6MonthsWithoutShopping celebratory gift cards. I'd actually walked into Jeanswest to try on another top, and picked this up just to try it on as it was so soft. While I didn't get the top I originally went in for, I couldn't leave without this tee. I have lots of tees. I particularly have a lot of blue ones. But this is still a piece I keep reaching for, and I'm glad I bought it. An impulse buy that worked out nicely!
Last worn: mustard yellow cardigan, polka dot tee, grey skinny jeans, black ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag.
Other ways to wear: mustard yellow cardigan and little black dress, polka dot tee and maxi skirt, grey skinny jeans and purple cardi, black ankle boots and maxi dress, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan bag worn 30 ways.
Perfect for pregnancy: black ankle boots and pregnancy announcement.
Colourful Cardigans Under $50:
How You Can Wear It
Skinny jeans are a stay at home mum staple as they work for whatever life throws at you (even if your planned day out ends up consisting of sitting in doctor's waiting rooms). In the cooler months, it's so easy to add extra colours to these outfits with a bright cardigan. A bright bag that compliments the cardigan is a fun accessory choice, and something you can continue to wear as a pop of colour in your outfit as the weather heats up and the cardigans get packed away.

Love me a good cardigan, I cannot live without them pretty much all year round. So sorry about your little one’s accident and I hope it does become a funny story to tell in the future. Wishing you a fantastic weekend, dear!

Thank you - I'm just glad it wasn't more serious :)
DeleteMica I'm sorry to hear about your little boy's fall, that must have been scary. I hope he's doing better now and was relieved to hear it wasn't as serious as it could have been. Your dedication as a Mum is amazing! But sometimes things are just outside our control.
ReplyDeleteOn a positive note, I adore your outfits! They look beautiful on you, and the combination of denim and bright colours is simply lovely.
Happy Friday!
Lots of love Saba xx

Thanks Saba! That's true, there really isn't much you can control as a mum!
DeleteI love how bright and happy both of these looks are! And who doesn't love a really soft tee! It's so fun with the polka dots too

Spring! It looks so sunny there. I'm very excited to leave behind the cold UK weather in a few weeks to share the spring with you. 3 and a half weeks to go!
ReplyDeleteI love the mustard bag :)

When Eve was a toddler, my non work uniform was top with jeans, but nowhere near as colourful as yours, Mica :P it was typically black on black with my lipstick and hair providing the colour pops.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your baby's fall OMG that must have been terrifying. I remember rushing to the ER the moment Eve sneezed LOL
Yes, it's so easy to overreact when they are little!
DeleteSuch lovely outfits and Cooper is looking so cute!! Have a nice weekend.

Mica, both of the cardigans are very pretty. The colors are perfect for spring. Cooper added tons of cuteness to the portraits!
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful your son is doing well. I'll keep him in prayer. Have a blessed weekend!

Thanks so much Tiff :)
DeleteSorry about your day, and it's so true that real life vs. online sometimes doesn't match up. That's why it's good to have story descriptions, haha. I love your outfit actually, especially the mustard colour bag. Have a great weekend. /Madison

haha yes it's good to be able to read what accompanies the photos! :)
DeleteOh no, oh no, oh no....I cringe as I am reading what happened to Baby boy! I know how you feel, it's something that every parent dread happening! :-(

It is so horrible when it happens :(
DeleteOh now! I'm so sorry about what happened. I can only imagine the emotions you must have felt seeing it happened so quickly and seeing him in such pain! I hate when I see Aviah cry, it makes me emotional. You're so right, motherhood is no joke. It's honestly a full time job, no days off, no holidays. Each day is different and you learn more about yourself as you go; how strong you are and how much you can love. As for your outfits, I love both of them, especially the one with the mustard yellow ;) Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend ahead!

It definitely is a big change, motherhood!
DeleteYour looks are perfect for comfort and ease. I'm a sucker for mustard cardigan! Love yours.
ReplyDeleteOh no, poor baby boy!! I hope his poor little face is on the mend. I totally know that kind of moment when you see something happening and you know you can't stop it--Violet has had a few such tumbles (although so far they've been from lower heights). I do love both of these outfits though, they're so pretty and colorful!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Mica!
It is so horrible! Thankfully his face cleared up in a few weeks.
DeleteSo glad nothing's broken! Hope Baby Boy is feeling much better <3

DeleteI love your first outfit, especially the subtle black and white pattern on the tank! I'm so sorry to hear about Baby Boy, though! What a stressful situation. I would have had a really hard time shifting gears and shopping after all that too. Glad to hear he's doing OK! (Hope you are too! <3)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jess. It was hard on both of us I think! All in the past now thankfully :)
DeleteI am so jealous of your collection of bags! They are such a great way to add a little something to what might be an otherwise fairly ordinary outfit!

Poor little bub and poor you! Sorry to hear your plans were scuppered but pleased he didn't do any serious injury to himself - hope he heals fast! Love that pic of Cooper - look how he's gazing so adoringly at you! Anything with polka dots gets my vote!
ReplyDeleteThanks, he did heal up in a couple of weeks!
DeleteLove your colorful cardigans! They're a fun way to finish off an outfit :)
ReplyDeleteOh, dear Mica! This was really a horrible day - motherhood is indeed not always easy and fun, I know absolutely what you mean. But I see you did the best for your boy and I'm so relieved to read that nothing worse happened. It is understandable that the planned shopping day was not as fun you assumed ... But I agree, the outfit is wonderful and I like also the second look with the impulse shirt buy you don't regret!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a happy new week and everything works fine during this week!

Oh I know those mama moments too! I suspect we'll be having a lot of those with these boys! I'm loving that mustard outfit - navy and mustard go so well together - and the bag is the perfect accompaniment. Both perfect mama outfits xx
ReplyDeleteEileen | 5feetofstyle.com
haha yes I better get used to it having two boys!
DeleteSorry to hear of your drama derailment! We had similar late last year when Miss L slid face first from the highest point of some play equipment onto her head and it was that same slow-mo heart stopping terror . . . the absolute worst. Hope everyone is feeling much better and you get to have your shopping day later!
ReplyDeleteOh no, how scary for you both! It's horrible when it happens.
DeleteLovely outfits dear, especially with yellow cardigan. So simple, yet so cute and effortless.
ReplyDeleteJessica | notjessfashion.com
Mica, so sorry about your baby boy's tumble. Please don't beat yourself up. Kids (and especially boys) get into everything. HUG I love the combinations here. Both outfits are beautiful. You look great.

Thanks Kim, very true, they get into all sorts of scrapes!
DeleteYou look good in all three outfits, I like how your hair looks curled and then also when it's straight. I usually dont have much options, my hair does what it wants.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about baby boy getting hurt, then again its those things that make us strong, we fall, we get up . Hugs.
Thanks Lorena.
DeleteTook a few years but I found a nice curler that works with my hair! Worth the wait! :)
Thanks all for your kind words over Baby Boy's accident.
