Grey and Stripes! More Maxi Skirt Outfits

More maxi skirts! Wore maxi skirts two days in a row. I do love them :)

Here's what I wore to spend the day with my family:
Summer Brushstroke pink tank grey jersey maxi skirt LV speedy B casual outfit
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
SingletJeanswest 'Hannah' print tank in paradise pink multi
SkirtTarget grey marle maxi skirt
Shoes:  black slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
Bag:  Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)

Crazy hair that happens when you throw a necklace on top before you rush out the door and don't pull your hair out from under it, haha! I didn't even notice until looking at the pics on the computer later.

The style challenge was to 'post a picture of someone who looks nice', which meant I didn't have to dress to an outfit prompt and could wear what I wanted for the day. I really enjoyed being able to choose what to wear for a change!  As I was spending the day with my family and grandparents, I just went for comfortable pieces. This tank is an oldie that doesn't get worn often.  Last time I wore it I was pregnant and I remember trying on so many different outfits trying to find one to disguise my tiny baby bump for lunch with friends. (We were keeping baby T a secret until we could surprise our families on Christmas day.) I did try to wear it again in the second trimester, but the baby bump had outgrown it then so it got pushed to the back of the wardrobe.

I found when I did my wardrobe inventory that I have a lot of tops, so tops I do love tend to get hidden in my wardrobe. I'm going to have to get tougher with what tops I keep so that I can wear the pieces I really love more frequently!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarersbrushstroke stripe tank, grey maxi skirt, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton Speedy B.

Here's what I wore to go into the city:
Aussie Blogger Favourite Outfit SAHM Grey tee target black white striped maxi skirt
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
TeeAtmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
SkirtTarget black and white striped maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag:  Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)

Took my grandparents out for lunch in the city, and then spent time with my mother in law for the afternoon. The style challenge for the day was to 'wear your favourite outfit all day'. I wear the grey tee and maxi skirt combination often, it's definitely the most comfortable outfit! Grey, stripes and a maxi skirt is outfit perfection to me! I even paired this maxi skirt with a grey tee last time I wore it too. This grey tee has to be my favourite of all the ones I own. I wish I had bought a backup of it as Atmos & Here don't make this style anymore sadly.

Wearing that teething necklace again! I'm out and about with baby T a lot, spending time with my grandparents who are visiting, so it's helpful to have something for him to play with without having to dig through the baby bag for a toy. These necklaces are great when eating meals too, I can keep baby T amused and he's less likely to try and grab everyone's food.

Last worn: grey tee, striped maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Louis Vuitton Speedy B (above).

Theme Park Style. Plain Tops and Printed Bottoms!

Two more similarly themed outfits! Plain tops worn with printed pieces - shorts and a cute pleated skirt.

Here's what I wore to visit a theme park:
Casual Summer Theme Park Sight Seeing Outfit Shorts and Tee LV Speedy B
NecklaceNibbly Bits Wilma necklace in pale daffodil
TeeJeanswest 'Lucy' colourblock tee in grey marle/rosebud
ShortsJeanswest 'Scarlette' printed shorts (on sale!)
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)

The style challenge for the day was 'a statement necklace'. The baby teething necklaces I wear work as statement necklaces, as well as being great things for baby T to chew on and play with!

We spent the day at the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast (completely different and separate from SeaWorld in America). It was forecast to be a really hot day, so I wanted to wear something that would keep me cool, but still be comfortable for a lot of walking around Sea World and looking after baby T, as well as going on some of the rides. The tee was good to keep my shoulders covered from the sun. These printed shorts were a much better option than denim shorts as we got wet going on the water rides and they dried out quickly during the day. I did think about wearing more supportive shoes like my Converse because of all the walking we would be doing, but it was much too hot to consider anything other than my Havaianas!

Baby T is still so small (only 7 months old), so I wasn't sure how much fun he would have at Sea World, but he really enjoyed it! He was even big enough to go on a few rides, and he had fun looking at all of the animals too. Although he missed the polar bears and the dolphins as he was napping! I'm looking forward to taking him again when he is bigger - he will be able to enjoy some of the shows instead of napping through them, and learn from all the educational stuff around the theme park. Plus the 'rescue, rehab and release' message Sea World Gold Coast operates under is a wonderful way for him to think about all animals, not just marine life!

Last worn: colour block teeprinted shorts, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere.

Here's what I wore to spend the morning with my grandparents:
Black gathered tank pleated printed A-line skirt sandals Rebecca Minkoff Love Bag
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Tank: Jeanswest round neck lace detail top
SkirtFrench Connection green and black printed skirt
Shoes: Wittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

The style challenge for the day was 'mimic a style you love' - so I shared a pic of when I tried on a pair of boyfriend jeans. They didn't suit me, so I didn't buy them.

This is what I wore for the day - I spent the morning with my grandparents. Both the top and the skirt are pieces that haven't been worn a lot lately, so I wanted to give them a go. While I'm not really happy with how they worked together, I do love both pieces separately so they are staying in my wardrobe. Wearing this top again just reminded me of how much I love it, has been far too long since I last wore it! Need to wear it more, as I commented last time how little I'd been wearing it too. The skirt hasn't been worn in over a year and a half, but I did try to wear it in that time - I just couldn't zip it over the baby belly!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, lace detail tank, pleated skirt, studded sandals, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.

Dressing Up Denim Shorts - Casual Summer Outfits with a Hat and Headscarf

Two more #JaNEWary style challenge outfits and two different ways to dress up denim shorts. I'm still enjoying being a stay at home mum a little longer before I return to work, so I'm always dressing for comfort first. I'm trying to put a little more effort into what I wear and be a little dressed up now and then, so I don't fall into a rut of the same outfits over and over.

In the winter, I was looking for ways to try dress up my jeans, now in summer I'm looking for ways to dress up shorts. Just like before, I find accessorising is the best way to do that. And it's easy to do, just add a little something before I step out the door. Denim is a great option for life with baby, but it's good to be able to dress it up now and then.

It's the Australia day long weekend, don't forget to take advantage of all of the extra sales and discounts in between your celebrations :)

Here's what I wore to spend the day by the sea:
printed headscarf peplum tank denim shorts LV neverfull beach outfit
Scarf: gifted Paris print silk scarf
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
SingletZalora basics ruffle hem tank in black (on sale!)
ShortsJeanswest black denim cuff shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

The style challenge for the day was to 'wear black'. Which was not my first choice for a sunny day, I'll be honest! Kept cool with denim shorts and a sleeveless tank. I like the ruffle detail on this tank, and it was nice and loose for a hot day.

My new scarf fit the challenge theme too. My mum bought it for me in Paris, it's beautiful. I thought wearing the scarf in my hair added a nice bit of interest to the outfit and dressed it up a little. Unlike the last time I wore a scarf in my hair, it wasn't tugged on too much by baby T which was good. We took a road trip up the coast, and had lunch by the sea followed by a bit of shopping. Baby T even had time for a paddle in the waves.

Last worn: peplum tank, denim shorts, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton Neverfull. First time I've worn the scarf.

Here's what I wore to spend the day at Southbank with my family:
casual summer outfit denim shorts button down tank floral print shirt LV NF
Hat: Big W bow detail sunhat
ShirtRiver Island floral print sleeveless shirt
ShortsJeanswest denim cuff shorts
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

When I wore this, the style challenge was 'try something different with your makeup'. I am not a beauty guru at all. I have the products I use, and just one of each of them. While I was younger I'd have a few different eyeshadows and lippies, but it's never really been something I've been as interested in as I am in clothes or accessories. Over the years, I've downsized to my staple products and so my options are makeup on, or makeup off! I spent the day without any makeup, and hid it under a big hat.

I like how the hat worked with this outfit. I'm not a hat person, but being out so often during the day lately I am loving hats just for the sun protection aspect! The nice wide brim helps keep baby T shaded a little when I baby wear too. Plus a bad hair day is really easy to hide....I might be converting to being a hat person!

Wore this out for a day at Southbank with my grandparents and family, and felt appropriately dressed up enough for a lunch at the restaurants nearby. It helps that the sleeveless shirt has a few sequins woven in too. Isn't it pretty? Another cute piece my mum brought back from Europe for me.

Last worn: sun hat, denim shorts, leather sandals, Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag (see above). First time I've worn the shirt.

Pink! Choies Strawberry Print Shirt, Satin Singlet and Suede Flats

Two more JaNEWary style challenge outfits, and a Choies review featuring one of the items from my first order with them.

Here's what I wore to go sightseeing:
Choies pink strawberry print shirt denim shorts Louis Vuitton Speedy B
Shirt: Choies pink chiffon shirt with strawberry print (C/O Choies)
ShortsJeanswest printed denim shorts
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bracelets: the usual plus beaded neon and gold and black and gold bracelet set
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)

This cute strawberry print shirt is the first item I ordered from Choies recently. I'll be honest, I'd never thought of ordering from them before until I was contacted by Sussi who asked me if I wanted something from them to review.  I didn't pay anything for the order. So for something free, it's fantastic!

I'm always wary of the sizing when ordering clothing from somewhere new, so I measured a similar shirt I had to check I was ordering the correct size from Choies. This is a small, equivalent to an Aussie 8 based on their size chart, and fits exactly as I expected. I'd say it's true to size. I think checking the measurements against a similar shirt I own helped me get the right fit. The shirt isn't as sheer as I worried it may be either, I didn't have to layer a nude cami underneath. There were a couple of loose threads but that's the only negative, and for something so cheap I wasn't exactly expecting perfection. The free delivery is a great plus too, no matter where you are in the world you don't have to worry about delivery fees. I ordered just before Christmas and got my parcel less than 3 weeks later. Pretty good! I ordered another shirt from Choies too in the same order, so I'll be wearing that soon. I'm already thinking about my wardrobe for when I return to work later in the year. I don't want any more casual clothes for the time being, after doing my wardrobe inventory I think I have enough! I thought the shirts would be a good thing to get as I can wear them to the office.

And shirts are good for life with baby too! Wore this out to go out for the day sightseeing with my grandparents and baby T. Despite the rain, it was a hot day, so I wore shorts.

Last worn: printed shorts, camel flats, damier ebene speedy bandouliere. First time I've worn the strawberry print shirt.

Here's what I wore to go to the doctors and spend the afternoon with family:
Pink and grey outfit paisley print skirt suede flats Rebecca Minkoff love

TankAsos satin singlet in pink
SkirtMinkpink grey and black paisley print skirt
Shoes: Novo Carmina fuschia suede flats
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

The style challenge was to 'wear your best shoes on an ordinary day'. I thought of my super high wedges right away, they are the best shoes I own but they are also the most impractical. I decided to pick my best flats instead. Much more practical for the day! They are a pink suede pair I got as a gift from my mum a while ago, and I haven't worn them often. They are beautiful - and generated a lot of love on Instagram - but I am conscious not to wear them too much as I don't want to ruin the delicate suede.

Had the doctors in the morning and then dinner and time with my grandparents in the afternoon. I'd had this outfit in mind with the pink tank and shoes, and then when I put it on the pinks didn't match like I'd thought they would...I wore it out anyway and felt quite happy with it, until baby T spat up all over the tank....changed into a black tee after that.

Last worn: pink singlet, paisley print skirt, suede flats, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.

Two Different Dress Outfits: Printed and Plain

Two simple dress outfits twice in a row! One for a cooler day with long sleeves and one on a hotter day. I'm following along with the challenges each day for JaNEWary, although I'm a bit behind on blogging what I wear, I'm sharing every day on instagram. I wasn't really happy with either of these outfits, if it hadn't been for the challenge I wouldn't have worn them. But I guess that's why I'm doing the challenge, trying to look at my wardrobe differently!

Here's what I wore to go shopping with my grandparents:
Leona Edmiston printed wrap dress Balenciaga Part time studded sandals
Dress: Leona Edmiston Paris tassel print wrap dress
Shoes: Wittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

The style prompt for the day was to wear a 'dress that gives you shape', so I went for a wrap dress again. There was a similar theme for the DAREcember challenge I participated in, and I wore a wrap dress then too.

I really wasn't feeling the love with this dress when I wore it out all day. I am still keeping it in my wardrobe for the moment as it is a good piece to wear in the office. (Last wore it to the office in the third trimester!) I'm planning to wear it again when I go back to work and see how I feel about it then before I make the final decision on whether it stays or leaves my wardrobe.

Last worn: printed wrap dress, studded sandals, Balenciaga Part Time bag.

Here's what I wore to go to the clinic and get groceries:
pink ruffle dress pastel accessories sandals belt rebecca minkoff love bag
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
DressJeanswest deep pink ruffle neckline dress
BeltAsos skinny pale pink belt
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

I know what you're thinking - "that's a very overdressed outfit for stopping by the child health clinic and grabbing groceries on the way home"...The style challenge for the day was 'overdress because you can'. And I certainly felt overdressed (and awkward!) in this outfit.

I've been looking at the dress in my wardrobe for a while wanting to wear it but feeling it was too dressy for everyday wear with baby, so it was nice to get a chance to wear it at least. It is pretty, but wearing it out for a few hours just confirmed for me it's not the best dress to wear when looking after baby T. Still keeping it in my wardrobe though as it will be useful for when I go back to work.

Blue! Printed Maxi Dress, Lace Pencil Skirt and Teething Necklaces

Two more outfits as I continue on with the 'JaNEWary' style challenge. Both of these outfits fit the prompt for the day, but neither were what I would have worn if I wasn't playing along with the challenge. It's good to wear more of my wardrobe and avoid falling into a style rut though, that's one of the benefits of following along with a monthly challenge.

Here's what I wore to go out with family:
Blue and Purple lace & LV neverfull casual pencil skirt outfit
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
NecklaceNibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
TankJeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Royal Lilac purple
SkirtAsos blue textured lace pencil skirt
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes pink clic clac
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

The style challenge for the day was to 'wear something outside your comfort zone'. I don't really own anything I'm uncomfortable in, if I do have it in my wardrobe I usually make the decision to get rid of it when I next wear it. I thought that wearing a pencil skirt casually would be a good thing for me to try again. I've tried a few times on the blog to wear a pencil skirt outside of the office, but I always feel I can't dress them down enough.

Wore this pretty lace pencil skirt with a simple tank and baby T's teething necklace. The last time I wore this pencil skirt was to the office - when I was in the third trimester!

Even though the pencil skirt has an elasticated waist and is really stretchy and comfortable to wear, I wasn't entirely comfortable in this outfit. The longer length of the pencil skirt came in tricky with picking baby up and putting him down a lot. Also felt very overdressed for going out with our families to pick up the photos from the photo shoot we had a few weeks back. I couldn't help thinking that with a blazer or cardi over the top, I'd wear this to work! Maybe the problem is that my office is so casual to begin with. Was definitely an outfit outside of my comfort zone, I much prefer pencil skirts for the office.

Here's what I wore to have lunch with my family today:
Jeanswest Chantelle Printed Maxi Dress petite blogger Rebecca Minkoff Love bag
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Wilma necklace in pale daffodil (new purchase)
DressJeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress (on sale!)
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus gifted blue and silver bracelet stack
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

This was one of the days I wished I wasn't doing the style challenge, as I had wanted to wear a different dress. The challenge was 'wear a colour that enhances your eyes', so I went with this blue maxi dress and not the other dress I had been thinking of wearing. This dress is lovely and a wardrobe favourite, I love the back lace detail on it, but it's just not what I would have worn if I didn't have the challenge telling me to wear blue.

Still a pretty dress, and appropriate to wear for a lunch with family. My family had planned a big surprise...my grandparents had flown in! So many people had been keeping it a secret for me to have an amazing surprise. It was incredible to see them again and have them meet baby T. I haven't seen them for a very long time, it is wonderful having them here. I'd worn my new teething necklace in anticipation of having to keep baby T amused during lunch, but hardly had to use it at all as he was getting so much love and attention from everyone, we rotated him around so everyone could eat!

The style challenge for the day was to 'explore your wardrobe and wear a long lost friend'. I thought of this top right away! I discovered it during my big wardrobe clear out as we turned my wardrobe room into baby's nursery, and happily wore it during pregnancy as it accommodated the bump. I haven't worn it for a little while since, so I am hoping to keep wearing it and not let it get lost in my wardrobe again. It is one of those pieces that is quite limited by how you can wear it, as it really only looks good with skinny jeans. But I have so many fond memories with this top, it's a real oldie and I am not ready to let it leave my wardrobe yet.

Although it does look best with jeans, it looked like it was going to be a hot day that morning, so I put on some shorts as baby and I headed out to the books and rhymes session at the local library. On our way home after getting the groceries, it started to rain. It actually felt quite cold in the afternoon, I wished I had worn jeans!

Had a busy morning! Baby T and I had some appointments to get to, and my mother's group was having their first catch-up of the new year. The style challenge for the day was to 'wear something that best represents your personality'. I'll admit, I had no idea what to do for that prompt! So I snapped a pic of my bracelet stack. My wrist was layered with a variety of bracelets, some small and dainty, some big and bold, some inspirational, the same ones I wear every day and that have sentimental value....I felt that mixed bag summed up my personality!

I'm trying to review all of my new purchases after I wear them, to be more thoughtful with what I'm buying and how it works with my current lifestyle and wardrobe. You can read more about why I'm doing this here.

This is the second wear of my new printed tank too, so my purchase review:
I'm glad I bought this. I love the print, and even though it's not my usual size I think it looks okay oversized. It works with maxi skirts, although does look better with denim. Still something I can see myself wearing in a few ways, maybe even with pencil skirts when I go back to work this year. I'm pleased I bought it. Not something I needed to buy, just something I wanted to buy, but still something that will get worn often.

Feminine Pleated Skirt and Ruffle Cami | Casual SAHM Outfit - Grey Tank, Denim Shorts, Printed Kimono

Two very different outfits today! One with a bit of thought put into it, and one with minimal thought, time or effort!

Here's what I wore to go out shopping:
SunniesRayban new Wayfarers
NecklaceDogeared silver wishbone necklace
TopJeanswest peach ruffle cami
Skirt: Garfunkle Australia pleated print skirt
Shoes: Wittner 'Bolla' black bow detail flats
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

The style challenge for the day was 'let's feel feminine today', so I was thinking of wearing one of my cute little pleated skirts. I have a few pleated skirts similar to this and I don't wear them all very often, so it seemed like a good idea to try wear them and see if any should leave my wardrobe.

As it was a hot and humid day, I wanted to wear a lightweight cami too. I liked this peach one, but wasn't sure what skirt it would go with. The pastel colour and ruffles fit the feminine theme well! This skirt was the first one I pulled out to try and I liked how the peach and yellow went together, so decided to wear this out to go shopping in the morning with baby T.

The challenge prompt gave me the confidence to go out and wear something I wouldn't normally have done, so it was a good outfit that way. Although I wasn't sure after looking at the photos, I felt comfortable all day when I was wearing this, I think it came together really well. I've always worn this printed skirt with neutral and rather plain tops, was good to step out of my comfort zone a little. I've decided this skirt is definitely staying in my wardrobe despite only being worn 3 times in 3 years - hopefully I'll be more adventurous with wearing it in the future so it will get lots of wear-time!

Last worn: Rayban Wayfarers, peach ruffle cami, printed pleated skirt, black flats, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.

Here's what I wore to spend the day at home with my mother in law:
Jacket: Just Jeans paisley print kimono jacket
NecklaceNibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
Singlet: Target grey marle tank top
ShortsJeanswest denim cuff shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs

Baby T had a really grizzly day the day before, after we got home from the shops he wasn't too happy...he then had a bit of a disturbed night. So the next day, all I wanted to wear was comfortable clothes.

When I'd gotten dressed I'd just gone for a comfy tank and shorts, that was all I needed to walk baby and Cooper in the morning. No thought or planning needed! I'm so thankful I'm still on maternity leave so that I can adjust my plans for the day to match baby T's moods most of the time. I'd decided to just skip taking outfit photos for the day and have a lazy day. By lunch time I was feeling a little less frazzled though, and as the style challenge for the day was 'try a print' I realised I could dress up my lazy stay at home tank and shorts outfit by adding the printed kimono jacket. Something to add a little interest to the plain outfit for having a visitor over too.

This kimono is an old sale find that I've never really worn a lot, I'm making more of an effort to wear it to justify keeping it in my wardrobe. I love how it makes a plain outfit look a little more polished...and it came in so helpful on this day to make me look a little more put-together and maybe just a little less tired than I felt. It's staying in my wardrobe as it is an awesome statement piece. I've worn it 8 times now since I've been blogging, not a bad cost per-wear for a $5 sale bargain, but still something I need to continue to wear to justify holding onto it.

Last worn: paisley kimono, grey tank, denim shorts, Havaianas.

Sequin Tank, Skinny Jeans, RM Love Bag | Grey Tee, Striped Maxi Skirt, LV Speedy B

More JaNEWary style challenge outfits. Although I was a little unsure about doing another style challenge so soon after my December one, I'm finding it's really making me use more of my wardrobe and wear things I wouldn't have normally. I'm enjoying it!

Here's what I wore to spend the day with DH and baby T:
Sequin detail tank Rebecca Minkoff Love Grey Sass and Bide Jekyll Hyde Zippora Skinny Jeans
TopJeanswest 'Darcy' embellished top in Winter coral
JeansSass & Bide Jekyll and Hyde zippora jeans
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

The style challenge for the day was 'sequins or something that sparkles' so I thought I'd wear this sequin top. It's a pretty one, but suffers from the 'too good to wear, I have to save it for a special occasion' curse so I never wear it all that much. I've only worn it 6 times over two years. It was good to have an excuse to wear it, even if it was just for a quiet Saturday out with DH and baby T.

First time I've squeezed into these jeans post-pregnancy too! They are the most unforgiving of all the skinny jeans I own, so the longer top was good, it helped hide the little muffin top that was going on! Might need to exercise more to wear these more often, they are not as stretchy as my other zippora jeans.

Last worn: sequin detail tank, Sass and Bide Zippora jeans, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.

Here's what I wore to go shopping:
Neutral black grey outfit statement necklace LV Speedy B damier 30
NecklaceNibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
TeeAtmos&Here 'Amalphi' luxe grey tee (new purchase)
SkirtTarget black and white striped maxi skirt
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)

I didn't have time to get a photo in the morning before we went out, so I figured a change room selfie would do! The style challenge for the day was 'a neutral day' so I went with black and grey. I wore the bright necklace not just because it adds some colour, but also as the teething necklace is almost guaranteed to keep baby T amused if he gets grizzly. We wanted to get lunch, so I wanted to be sure I could distract him!

Was the first time I've worn this new tee, and I'm really pleased I bought it. I know I have too many grey tees, but I like the little black sleeve detail on this one. Was nice and comfortable for a morning out shopping the post-Christmas sales, and then having lunch with DH. I even got to check out some of the Missoni for Target stock - it was all massively reduced at my local target, so I took the chance to go try on some things I didn't get to previously. Nothing was in my size, but I picked up a few sizes that 'might' have worked and tried them on. The good prices couldn't hide the fact that I had the wrong sizes though, so I didn't get anything for myself. I did end up picking up a few cute baby clothes for baby T in the sales though...

Last worn: striped maxi skirt, Asos Sandals, Louis Vuitton Speedy B. First time I've worn the tee as it's a recent purchase.

NYE and New Years Day Maxi Skirt Outfits

The last of my Fox in Flats style dare December outfits...and the first of my JaNEWary style challenge outfits! Since the final reductions are starting in the post-Christmas sales, I've included some sales and discount codes too.

I had a quiet New Years eve, even more quiet than usual. I may have fallen asleep before welcoming in the new year...

Although I didn't have any plans for the new year, the style challenge for the day was to wear something that sparkles, so I wore this old sequin scarf. I've had it for years, it's survived every wardrobe clear out! I still remember the day I bought it, after seeing a pic of someone wearing one and wanting to recreate it. So I dragged my friends round every store that might have one. I originally passed up on this one as it wasn't exactly what I was after, but went back at the end of the day to get it after realising it was the cheapest, haha. My friends were not amused. I don't even remember wearing it after spending a day hunting for it! I'm sure I wore it once or twice though. Wanted to wear my new printed tank too that I bought in December, and thought it was nice with the maxi skirt.

If it wasn't for the challenge I don't think I'd have paired the printed top and sequin scarf together on my own, but it was nice to wear something a little different. Ended up taking the scarf off later in the afternoon as baby T thought it was a shiny toy for him to play with, especially when the sun caught it as I was outside. After a few too many tugs I decided I was better off not wearing it!

Last worn: black maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag. First time I've worn the scarf on the blog, and first time I've worn the tank as it's a new purchase.

Here's what I wore on New Year's Day:
Colourful Summer Outfit Asos Colour Block Maxi Skirt Atmos&Here Cami LV Speedy B 30
SunniesRayban new Wayfarers
NecklaceNibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
SkirtAsos colour block maxi skirt in red (on sale!)
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere (with Coach feather bag charm)

Wore this to go to a BBQ lunch to welcome in the new year. A very colourful outfit featuring another of my December purchases, this cute little ruffle cami. Thought it would look nice paired with the colourful maxi skirt. After putting it on I wasn't too sure when I glanced in the mirror, but decided to wear it anyway as I didn't have time to come up with a different outfit idea. It seemed to go down well on instagram so it was a winner in the end. Like the above though, not an outfit I'd repeat again.

After finishing the Fox in Flats DAREcember style challenge, I was looking forward to making my own mind up for what to wear each day in January. The style challenges are fun, but they can be tricky when I have to come up with an outfit that meets the theme and is suitable for spending the day with baby T, sometimes it requires a bit of forward outfit planning! When I saw the JaNEWary style challenge for January I thought I'd skip it at first. In the end, I decided to play along with the challenge, as I knew I'd probably get stuck for outfit ideas half-way through January anyway, haha! So as well as being my first outfit of 2015, it's my first January style challenge outfit, for 'splash of colour', with a whole lot of colour.

Last worn: Wayfarerscolour block maxi skirt, Asos sandals, Louis Vuitton Speedy B. First time I've worn the cami on the blog as it's a recent purchase.

As promised, a few post-Christmas sales that have extra reductions:
I'm trying to keep the sales and discount page as up-to-date as possible too.
