Here's what I wore to spend the morning with some mums and bubs:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers
Tank: Splendid double French stripe tank in 'Flamingo' pink
Skirt: Jeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs pretty nylon Eliz-A-Baby bag
I caught up with some other mummies from my mother's group to go for a little walk and get some socialisation for the babies and us. It was really nice enjoying the warm, sunny day and getting a bit of exercise too. The other mums were in fitness gear, but I don't own gym clothes! I figured a nice light tank and maxi skirt with some Chucks was a good casual outfit for getting out.
The only problem with wearing this was that I forgot to put on sunscreen. Being a new mum and sometimes a little sleep deprived, I do forget things from time to time. But I really suffered after this forgetful moment! My poor shoulders were uncovered and got extremely burnt. Need to throw some sunscreen in the baby bag for the next time I forget to put it on in the morning. Just glad my BB cream has some SPF in it so at least my face was protected, and that my legs were shielded by the maxi skirt.
Last worn: Wayfarers, striped tank, jersey maxi skirt, Converse, Marc by Marc Jacobs baby bag.
Here's what I wore to go shopping:
Sunglasses: Rayban new Wayfarers
Jacket: Just Jeans paisley print kimono jacket
Necklace: House of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey
Top: Jeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Royal Lilac purple
Skirt: Target grey marle maxi skirt
Shoes: black slim Havaianas thongs
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey
Went out shopping with my mum and sister the day after the great sunburn walk. I was having such a tough time finding something to wear. My own fault for forgetting sunscreen! I was running out of time finding something to wear as baby T and I were meeting my family at the stores. Started with the maxi skirt as I wanted to be comfortable, and ended up picking the tank top as it was the only thing that didn't "scratch" my shoulders. Even just a simple seam on a tee was too much for my red skin!
I still needed to cover up a little more to avoid any further sunburn, so I picked this kimono as it's so lightweight. I've worn it with a maxi skirt before when I was pregnant, in an almost identical outfit, but it's not a combination I'd usually go for as it's a voluminous top and skirt together. Ended up quite liking this outfit though, although it's not something I would have put together normally. What do you think? Too much with the skirt and kimono together, or not bad?
Last worn: kimono, purple tank, grey maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB.

I love kimono jackets at the moment too. I have one which I can't wait to start whipping out - unfortunately it's still a bit cold when I leave for work in the mornings, so I usually opt for something a bit warmer. But yay for spring on it's way!
ReplyDeleteCan I also say, your hair looks fantastic in your second pic!
The Hidden Thimble
Love the pink-striped tank top and especially the beige paisley kimono. =)
ReplyDeleteI like the loose kimono jacket over this outfit very much! It gives it a nice finishing detail, as well as giving a little extra protection for your poor shoulders.
ReplyDeleteSunburns are the worst! I have to lather up or I end up so red. Maxi skirts are so much more comfortable than jeans. It's amazing! Love the kimono with your look.

Your kimono works so well with that pretty purple tank! I think it works really well with the maxi skirt! And if it helps you avoid further sunburn all the better!
ReplyDeleteMaxi skirts and dresses have become faves of mine, too--and, you wear them well! Love the kimono and that great RM handbag! I just bought my first pair of Ray Ban sunnies in August and I am loving them--very durable. Hugs on your day! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
