What I wore:
Jacket: Bubblegum denim jacket
Necklace: Nibbly Bits BB plum silicone teething necklace (C/O)Shirt: Target blue abstract floral print shirt
Jeans: Jeanswest 'shale' super skinny jeans
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs black leather Swarovski beaded wrap bracelet
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey (on sale, 30% off!)
Why I wore it:
I love blue and purple together so these purple toned jeans seemed like an obvious choice with this printed shirt. Another $10 target sale find, I always seem to have good luck in their sales. Was an interesting day when I wore this. Baby Boy woke up early as always and when we got downstairs I noticed a giant rat in the yard. I've tried to show hubby it before and Cooper's unsuccessfully tried to catch it too. I took a photo for proof of all those times I've been sure Cooper chased a rat out the yard, and then carried on making brekkie.
When Baby Boy excitedly pointed at birds out the window I looked out again and saw the rat hadn't moved. I went out and scared the birds away from it and caught the poor thing in a cardboard box and gave him some food and water and a blanket made from an old top. I called RSPCA while trying to figure out if it was native or introduced. Although it meant I was late for the ABA meeting that morning, we took a little detour to the vet. She confirmed it was a melomys, a native Aussie animal which to my untrained eye looked like a cute rat. Toddler T even named him "E The Rat". Every time we pass the vets he asks if E The Rat is feeling better. I hope so, he was in very bad shape.
In the end we weren't too late to the ABA meeting, which worked out nicely as part of the introduction speech was a thank you for the volunteers as part of World Breastfeeding Week. I was surprised to get given a thank you gift for volunteering with my local group. It was so sweet, and I'm glad I didn't miss catching up with everyone.

What I wore:
Necklace: Nibbly Bits BB plum silicone teething necklace (C/O)
Shirt: Target mint stripe shirt
Jeans: Jeanswest blackberry super skinny jeans
Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in aquamarine with python embossed leather (on sale!)
Why I wore it:
Although not totally blue, I thought this mint shirt would look good with my purple jeans. I wore this out shopping with the toddlers. After being sick for a few days, we were feeling better so I made a small detour to Kmart before grocery shopping. I had my eye on a dress I'd continuously seen during my no shop challenge and couldn't stop thinking about. I was going to wait for it to go on sale, but decided to go ahead and buy it anyway as I kept thinking of it. It was only $15 too.I've worn these purple jeans with the mint bag before, I really like the colourful combination. This shirt is so soft and so comfortable - while it works nicely in the office with a pencil skirt, I love wearing it casually too.
Last worn: purple cardigan, pinstripe shirt, purple skinny jeans, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff aqua mini MAC.
Other ways to wear: purple cardigan and maxi dress, pinstripe shirt and pencil skirt, purple skinny jeans and graphic tee, Converse and floral maxi dress, Rebecca Minkoff aqua mini MAC and black maxi dress.

I love the purple and mint combo! I especially love the python mint bag! I was just reading some of your older posts and discovered you're a Brissie girl like me! Yay! Have a great weekend Mica! XXX
ReplyDeleteYey for finding another Brisbane blogger! :)
DeleteI wear shirts so much for work that I haven't got into them for casual. But I have just bought 2 patterned ones so will be giving them a go. Funny but I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you styled your print top. It does work well with your jeans and the necklace pulls it together.
ReplyDeleteYou wear purple so well, Mica! That used to be my high school color. I wore them so much that I kind of have an aversion to it now! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow for Baby Boy spotting the melomys or "rat" as I would have also thought too!
I really thought it was a rat, it was an educational vet visit! And he still talks about his friend Eee the rat!
DeleteI love tops like this! I just posted about something similar - things that work for work and weekend. They get the most wear for me too. So nice of you to take care of the rat.

I'm in with the printed shirts - it just looks like more effort than a t-shirt, and just that bit nicer. What an adventure with the "rat" - I have never heard of a melomys, but he sure is cute! I am fond of rodents in general. What a good-hearted thing to take it to the vet!
ReplyDeleteHe was very cute! I didn't touch him just in case I hurt him but he looked so soft too! If it's not an insect I'm more than happy to take a few minutes to make sure it's ok! Bugs scare me sometimes though, haha!
DeleteWow, you look so gorgeous dear! The outfit looks so pretty and graceful. You have styled it beautifully :)

The blackberry super skinny jeans are my favourite, I just adore the colour. It's nice with the combination of mint in the crossbody. x
ReplyDeleteFASHION TALES
I am totally loving the mint and purple combo, Mica. Am totally stealing that:D And how brave and kind are you for taking that poor thing in. TBH, anything rat-like in appearance would have me screaming like a banshee!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely weekend ahead:)
haha rats don't scare me, it's creepy crawlies that do! I visited a relative with pet rats when I was little, so fun that I still remember it! :)
DeleteYou are such an animal lover! I would have been too freaked out to try to catch it and take it to the vet. Good for you for doing that!
ReplyDeleteI love these looks--the colors are so pretty. I'm always looking for ways to wear my workwear dressed down on days I'm home, so thanks for the inspiration!
Just can't bear to see them in pain! If I dealt better with blood I was going to be a vet! :) Always wanted to as a kid!
DeleteThese looks are so cute, I love all of the blues

I saw the black version of your acqua RM bag over lunch at a thrift store for 7.00 dollars !
ReplyDeleteHow nice of you to stop and take care of the "rat" not many people would do that. A few weeks ago I came across a baby armadillo but was a bit too late and he/she did not make it, it was so heartbreaking.
Did you get the bag?! I would have, haha!
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about the armadillo, it's so sad when you can't do anything for them.
Nice! You rock on it girl!

Hey lovely lady, I love that story about E The Rat. You are the kindest! I'm glad that the cute furry one is recovering thanks to YOU. Your outfit with the printed shirt is something I'd wear. And hey, congrats on the volunteering for World Breastfeeding Week. You are amazing and inspiring :) x
ReplyDeleteThe blue and purple tones look nice. Good thing that you didn't actually catch a rat!
ReplyDeleteI love the denim jacket! Thinking a huge rat is outside well you're braver than I would ever be with that. Glad to hear you are recovering and got a nice dress at a nice price! Enjoy your weekend!

Your purple jeans are so cute!
ReplyDeleteHow good you feel better! Love the mix with purple and mint so much and also purple with blue looks wonderful how you have combined it.
ReplyDeleteAnd what an adventure! I'm sure I would also habe believed this is a rat - how good you took it to the vet.
Enjoy the new week!

Great outfit! You're right, button up shirts are great for casual or smartening up for work.
ReplyDeleteLooks super cute and I love the handbag!
ReplyDeleteI never thought about mint and purple Mica! Looks really good together. You are such a trooper for bringing that rat to the vet! I hope he's alright as well. Good for you.

$10 for those jeans?! I love Target. What a steal!
ReplyDeletehaha I wish that the jeans were $10! The shirt was though! :)
DeleteLove it that most of the items you share on your blog are so affordable, such a change from other fashion type blogs where all you can do is dream.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm a mum of two, I don't have as big of a fashion budget as I'd like sometimes, but I've always enjoyed finding a bargain! :)
DeleteI rarely wear my printed shirts on my days off, but I really shouldn't just reserve them for work! I love the way you dressed yours down with a denim jacket! I need to try that out, it would make my closet feel 'bigger'!
ReplyDeleteYes a denim jacket is a great piece to dress things down!
DeleteI find purple to be a challenging color for me to wear, so I'm loving your takes on it!
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
Love the purple outfit
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your kind comments. Sadly no updates on Eee the "rat", while I took him to the vet he came under the care of the RSPCA once I did so so they would be responsible for his hopefully quick recovery!
