Maxi Skirts, Printed Scarves and Striped Mini MAC Bag

Whenever I'm mixing prints I always seem to pick stripes as one of the prints. I find stripes so easy to wear so I'll happily wear printed scarves with my striped mini MAC.

What I wore:

Winter maxi skirt outfit bird print scarf stripes grey cardi | Away From The Blue

Rebecca Minkoff striped mini MAC bag with stripe maxi skirt | AwayFromTheBlue
Scarf: navy bird print scarf
Tee: Atmos&Here rolled sleeve oversize tee in black (also in grey)
Skirt: Target black and white striped maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

Why I wore it:

Had such a fun day when I wore this! Toddler T's auntie got him a trip to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for his birthday, although we had to postpone it due to the weather. When we finally managed to lock in another date for it he was getting really excited!

I knew I'd be doing a lot of walking and babywearing, so wanted something comfortable. The bird print scarf was a great cover up while feeding and also helped make me feel a little more stylish for photos. We took a lot of photos as you get the chance to get close to so many different animals. Toddler T's excitement with feeding kangaroos was the most adorable thing. We were lucky enough to get to hold a snake and crocodile too, although the lorikeet that admired my scarf and landed on my head didn't stick around long enough for him to get too close.  It was a really fun day out and he loves talking about it and all the animals he interacted with.

Last worn: wool cardigan, bird print scarf, black tee, striped maxi skirt, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff striped mini MAC.

Other ways to wearlong cardigan and skinny jeans, bird print scarf and skinny jeansblack tee and flares, striped maxi skirt and burgundy tee, Converse and denim shorts, Rebecca Minkoff striped mini MAC and a printed dress.

What I wore:

Rebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe | Away From The Blue
ScarfMarc by Marc Jacobs print scarf in croc-print
Jumper: blue Mossman knit jumper
Skirt: Target grey marle maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
BagRebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

Why I wore it:

Unlike the outfit above which felt comfortable and practical, this outfit just annoyed me. Wore it to spend the day with my mum and take toddler T to his swim lessons in the morning. Despite the leather jacket and scarf I was pretty cold as the cropped blue jumper kept riding up and I only had a bikini top on underneath in preparation for swimming. Even adding a breastfeeding singlet underneath after the swim lesson I kept needing to tug it down.

It's not the first time I've found cropped lengths previously perfect for my petite frame seem to be uncomfortably short now with my still larger than usual chest. I briefly considered donating this jumper back to the opshop I picked it up from, but I think I would regret it when things go back to their pre-pregnancy size.

Last worn: leather jacket, printed scarf, blue knit jumper, grey maxi skirt, Converse (above), striped mini MAC (above).

Other ways to wearleather jacket and a little red dress, printed scarf with stripes, jumper and a maxi dress, maxi skirt and graphic tee, Converse and flares, striped mini MAC and navy dress.

  6. Stripes are always my go-to pattern too, I love how they mix so well with other prints. I hate it when I'm tugging and pulling at my clothes all day, that drives me crazy! That post-baby/nursing time can be more frustrating than pregnancy when it comes to getting dressed I think!

    1. I think it can, although there are so many changes during pregnancy too! It can all be a challenging time for sure.

  7. The visit to the Wildlife Sanctuary sounds like it was great fun for both you and Toddler T. I don't think I'd be brave enough to hold a snake or a crocodile though ;p Glad you enjoyed it!

  11. The changes in the post-pregnancy body are pretty annoying. Whenever I look in the mirror and think: Yes, that could fit again, I am surprised by how much my body has altered it´s shape...

  12. I love the stripes and stars in the first outfit! So cute! And that sounds like a wonderfully fun outing for you guys. For the 2nd outfit, hmmm...I would toss the cropped top - you should have things in your wardrobe that fit you NOW (and besides, I know you love to shop - you'll find another better one later!). :)

  16. I haven't worn scarf for months, it is one of the things I actually miss about autumn/winter :) I love the bird scarf, it is pretty! How long would did it take to get back to the pre-pregnancy shape at the first pregnancy?

  19. Using a large scarf for style and breast feeding purpose is a smart idea. Back when I was breast feeling, I always took with me the breast feeding cover, never thought of using large scarf which would make more sense fashion wise and convenience.

Don't give away the jumper, I'm sure you'll love it again after the baby!

  39. So.... I REALLY want to feed a kangaroo! lol I think that excites me even more than a child. (; When ever I take a dab at print mixing, I too stick with stripes as one of my prints. Really, it's the easiest of the bunch. I almost consider stripes a "neutral" anymore.
