What I wore:
Necklace: statement silver plate necklace
Dress: Jeanswest peach ruffle cami
Belt: Asos blue textured lace pencil skirt
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
Id' planned this outfit in advance the weekend before. Usually I plan my outfits the evening before, to help me get ready faster in the mornings. I was feeling a bit stressed on Sunday night though before a big Monday so decided to play in my wardrobe a bit to relax, and pulled this together. I've worn orange and blue together before, but this is the first time I've paired this blue lace pencil skirt with peach. I really liked this combination of colours.Wasn't entirely sure that the cami untucked looked as good as I thought though - I preferred it without the blazer. The spaghetti straps on the cami mean a coverup was required at work, but I didn't check the blazer addition before I left the house. I think tucking in the cami would have looked better. Otherwise, I really liked this outfit. Perfect for a hot day as I took the jacket off whenever I was outside and had it to keep me warm in the aircon at my desk.
Last worn: cream jersey blazer, peach ruffle cami, blue lace pencil skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs ballet flats, Balenciaga Tempete day bag.
Other ways to wear: cream jersey blazer and sheath dress, peach ruffle cami and jeans, blue lace pencil skirt and purple tank, Marc by Marc Jacobs ballet flats and printed dress, Balenciaga Tempete day bag and maxi dress.
Perfect for pregnancy: blue lace pencil skirt in third trimester, Marc by Marc Jacobs ballet flats in third trimester, Balenciaga Tempete day bag in second trimester.
What I wore:
Necklace: Uniquely Made with Love Sea Change necklace
Dress: Jeanswest 'Maria' cami in cream
Skirt: Cotton On 'Mica' mesh spot skirt in dusty pink
Shoes: Walnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
Bag: Balenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete
Why I wore it:
Another day in the office, another opportunity to wear a cami and textured pencil skirt. After not being too sure about the untucked top above, I tucked the cami into the skirt this time, and I preferred this look.I continue to be impressed by how well this mesh layer skirt is holding up, coming up to having it 6 years now. It has only been worn 13 times in that period though. It's not the first time I've paired it with this white ruffle cami, I love the combination so it makes sense I'd repeat it. This time, instead of the grey cardigan I wore it with the black blazer.
Kept the blue Balenciaga bag with this, I like blue and pink together and I thought that the necklace tied it in nicely. There was a style challenge on Instagram too and I thought the colour of the day was blue, but I was a day early and it was supposed to be green. I enjoyed the blue accessories anyway.
Last worn: black jersey blazer, white ruffle cami, polka dot pencil skirt, black ballet flats, Balenciaga tempete day bag (above).
Other ways to wear: black jersey blazer and printed tee dress, white ruffle cami and maxi skirt, polka dot pencil skirt with florals, black ballet flats and skinny jeans, Balenciaga tempete day bag and printed shorts.
Perfect for pregnancy: black jersey blazer in third trimester, white ruffle cami in second trimester, polka dot pencil skirt hiding an early baby bump, black ballet flats and maternity wrap dress, Balenciaga tempete day bag and maternity shorts.
Ruffle Camis Under $50:
How You Can Wear It:
A cami is one of those pieces that you can wear for work or weekend! If your office dress code means spaghetti straps aren't an option, you can go for one with thicker straps, or cover up with a blazer. Adding a blazer to anything is my favourite way to make it ready for a business casual office.

Ruffled camis are such versatile pieces. I only have off the shoulder ruffled tops which unfortunately can only be worn by themselves. I love the texture of both your skirts as well! it's all about mixing interesting pieces together.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame you can't layer with them, but I bet they are pretty tops anyway! :)
DeleteI just love how thoughtful you are about wearing all of your wardrobe. It's so fun to see how you style things. Love the camis with your work skirts!

Straight A Style
Thanks Amy! It's really been a focus for me recently after my 6 months without shopping last year.
DeleteWhile tucking the cami may have looked good, flying it looks so good as well. I also plan my outfits the night before or I'd be going crazy in the morning. Great idea to have a blazer to throw over the cami for work purposes. Lovely looks. I love the polka dot skirt. Have a lovely week.

Blazers are my go-to for making things office appropriate! :)
DeleteYou look so chic! Love your Balenciaga bag and the cute skirt!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, babe!

You look beautiful Mica in both outfits. In the first outfit, I loved your printed pencil skirt and the lovely top. In the second it is the top which stole my heart. Great ways to style dear.
ReplyDeleteA very happy Monday, hope you are enjoying the first day of the week.
Kisses 😘

I love your 30 wears challenge, and it's crazy to think how hard it is, because we just have so much stuff... I love your printed pencil skirts. That reminds me I haven't worn a pencil skirt in ages.
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
True! It's definitely showing me how much I have and how little I need!
DeleteI love the color of that bag! It's so pretty! And it's a great size for carrying everything you need!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.closet-fashionista.com/
Great outfits! I'm the worst with planning my outfits, I should start to do that too :) Have a nice day :)
ReplyDeleteI like especially the second outfit, the polkadot skirt is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteMarije | thegfguide.com
Oh I just love that first color combo--it's so light and fresh and pretty! I like how the ruffles on the camis give them a little something special--I need more tops like that to swap for plain tees.
ReplyDeleteit is nice to have a fun detail like that sometimes! :)
DeleteLove that layer skirt - that's going great 6 years on! The peach and blue go so great together!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice when you have a piece like that skirt for so long showing it's not only good quality, but also a good purchase since it stood the test of time against trends. It's lovely paired with your blue bag! I need to pull out some of my camis as well, but some days even with a blazer I get chilled. Hopefully warm weather comes soon and I can wear them!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's nice to have pieces like that which have staying power in my wardrobe! I think polka dots will always be a classic :)
DeleteThese are both great office looks - I also prefer the 'half-tuck' on the second cami - I think it just gives a bit more of a professional look to the outfit. Pencil skirts look fabulous on you, Mica!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila, I will need to half tuck next time I wear the peach cami.
DeleteI also like the ruffle tops you are pairing with the pencil skirts. perfect balance to streamlined skirt and boho bag.

I love how effortless and minimalistic your style is. Definitely my kind of style. These are great feminine outfits for the office. Always a good thing to plan ahead isn't it? I do that all the time especially with a lil man to get ready too. Ha!
ReplyDeletehttps://www.missymayification.co.uk
Thank you! I find planning in advance the only way I can be sure to get ready in the mornings haha!
DeleteI prefer the tucked in version as well, but without the blazer the untucked version is very nice too.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Linda, Libra, Loca
It's interesting how much a simple tuck or untuck can change an outfit! :)
DeleteI definitely prefer outfit number two as like you say tucking the cami in really makes a difference! I really love the polkadot pencil skirt too! It's made me realise I really need to up my game in the office!

Fun pencil skirts like this make office dressing easy :)
DeleteWhat a great bag, and you can fit so much inside it!
ReplyDeleteI love the shape you created by tucking in the second cami, although I think both outfits look great! I really struggle with the tucked vs. untucked issue myself and obsess over it way too much haha!
ReplyDeletehaah I figure if I don't like it one day, I can change it for the next outfit! :) Which I probably will for the peach cami :)
DeleteYou always have the best necklaces! I love all the chunky jewelry!

I really love the pink and polka dot skirt. It looks so cute with the way you styled it!

I really like your blue skirt, such a pretty pattern. I'm stuck in a workwear rut already and I've only been in my fulltime office based project for 2 weeks! I am stuck in a cardigan rut at the moment which doesn't really work with the weather. Can you recommend any places for cheap but not nasty blazers? I gave Zara a quick check but it's not that cheap! I think I'll start stalking the charity shops near me instead...
ReplyDeleteOpshops are a good idea! The cream Zara blazer I got from ebay, the other from an opshop, haha! I only really have blazers from Zara and Jeanswest :( Cotton On might have some, and Kmart is always good for a bargain!
DeleteYou look lovely, you style the camis perfectly. That dotted skirt is really cute. I also like your Youtube channel, you're spontaneous with your videos. I've been thinking of opening my channel too since I have unboxing videos already but I'm not confident to do it yet. Do you edit your videos, if so what editing software do you use? Thanks dear! I've been wanting to read your blog since last weekend but was so busy at home. For some reason I can't leave a comment in your blog in my PC at work, somehow it's disabled. Wishing you a great start of the week.
ReplyDeletewww.busyandfab.com
Oh no! I'm glad you can comment from home :)
DeleteYou should definitely start a YouTube channel! I just use windows movie maker for my editing, as I'm on a PC. I'm trying to get better with editing this year! :)
Thanks dear, so helpful of you :)
DeleteI'm loving all the pastels in the first look, gf! Super chic! Hope you're having a great week so far!

I liked the first outfit - and the second s well - very much! The blazer is a good idea to cover the straps and the cami tucked in or not, like now, I think both ways would look amazing - I loved the cami! Loves the bag too! You always look so stylish, I like your style! Hope you have a lovely week!

Both outfits are really cute :) xx
ReplyDeleteYou're an absolute girl boss, Mica!! love this office outfits. The skirts in both looks are gorgeous, love the prints! Your new Balenciaga bag looks so practical and the color is lovely. By the way, your voice is so sweet and soothing! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Valentine's Day!!

Thank you Deb, that's so sweet of you to say. Hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day.
DeleteGreat combos! I don't do spaghetti straps at all because my bra straps do not lend themselves to this look and I feel uncomfortable sitting and working in a blazer but you look SPOT on. Hope all went well with the big day and a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeletehaha yes, spaghetti straps and bra straps not a good combo for the office! He did have a speedy recovery which was nice.
DeleteBeautifully styled, Ruffles suit you very nicely and love the looks created here. Very feminine indeed and a great day bag and particularly like the colour!
ReplyDeleteHope you're well lovely!

I admittedly don't have a lot of camis mainly because like you they're not really appropriate for my workplace, and I also feel like I need to tone my arms a bit more to really rock them, haha! Loving the polka dot Cotton On skirt - great neutral colour and print xx
ReplyDeleteEileen | 5feetofstyle.com
Your arms would look good in camis I think! :)
DeleteThis is so pretty! I love all the ruffles! You look great in pastel tones! I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear them too!
ReplyDeleteRaindrops of Sapphire
Mica, you've proved you can dress it up or down! Looks great with that ruffled cami.

This is such an adorable look you got here dear. Love the ruffled camis, and its chic and cute color!
ReplyDeleteJessica | notjessfashion.com
Both are great looks.
ReplyDeleteI think camis are basics we should all have. One day you wear them to the office with a skirt and blazer like you and the next you sport them with shorts !
