What I wore:
Dress: MEV Havana maxi dress C/O Zibibo
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs black logo plaque ballet flatsBag: Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere
Why I wore it:
I adore this maxi dress, I really do! It's a maternity/nursing dress, and I wore it heavily in the second and third trimesters of both pregnancies, as well as wearing it post-baby too. It was the last pregnancy outfit I got photos of for the blog. It's nice to wear it again without the bump, and appreciate the ease of breastfeeding in it! In the early weeks, your wardrobe needs to accommodate your changing postbaby body as well as being easy to pull up or down or sideways to allow for easy breastfeeding too while you and baby master the art.Wore this out to a family birthday dinner. I'd usually pick a clutch or smaller bag, but I had all my stuff in the speedy bag from the last time I wore it and didn't have the energy to swap out for an evening bag I'd have to juggle with a newborn and toddler. No extra accessories either, just a simple pull on and go outfit.
Last worn: Mothers En Vogue maxi dress, Marc Jacobs ballet flats, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.
Other ways to wear: pink maxi dress and LV neverfull, Marc Jacobs ballet flats with black and grey, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and denim shorts.
What I wore:
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Tee: Atmos&Here rolled sleeve oversize tee in black (also in grey)Skirt: Izabel London Aztec print maxi skirt (C/O)
Shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs black logo plaque ballet flats
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red (new purchase)
Why I wore it:
I finally swapped my handbags over! I wore my Balenciaga day bag for a while post baby as that's the bag I had everything in when I went into labour. It was a bag that was easy to continue using while hubby had some time off from work to help us settle in. Now it's just me and the boys, a cross body bag like the Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere I wore above is an essential to keep my hands free. I'd had my eye on this saddle bag at Shopbop for a while and with the recent friends and family sale it was the perfect time to buy it.It's a great size, so easy to wear when spending the day with two under 2, and really pops against a monochrome black outfit like I've worn it here. A nice easy outfit to do the day care drop off / pick up and a chance to wear my new bag.
As it's the second and third times I've worn my Marc by Marc Jacobs black logo plaque ballet flats, and I'm trying to reflect on everything I buy after wearing it twice to make sure I'm making thoughtful purchases, my purchase review:
I have a few pairs of Marc by Marc Jacobs flats now. They are comfortable, look cute and are easy to pick up on sale, just like I got these ones. I have this same style in silver so it was an easy choice to get it in black too when they were reduced and available in my size. I'm really pleased with them. Although I already have a pair of black ballet flats, I tend to favour neutral coloured shoes so I know I'll get a lot of wear out of these. Happy I bought them.
Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, black tee, printed maxi skirt, black ballet flats (above). First time I've worn the saddle bag as it is a recent purchase.
Other ways to wear: black tee and printed jeans, printed maxi skirt layered up for winter, black ballet flats and a grey maxi skirt.

DeleteOh, I remember seeing the pink dress quite often on your blog before, and I don't blame you for loving it - I think it's gorgeous and it looks absolutely wonderful on you! The second look is fab also, a lot more casual but still very stylish. :) Thanks for sharing, hope you're well! <3

Hi Mica, I thin its great that you're getting so much wear of this dress - it was a wise buy :
ReplyDeleteI love the color of that maxi dress, and also the color of your bag in the second look! Such bright, pretty colors. I'm glad that you have pieces that take you from pregnancy to nursing, that is great!
ReplyDeleteYep it's good to have pieces you can wear once the 9 months are over :)
DeleteYou look so gorgeous! I absolutely love that red saddle bag. Congrats on the newborn as well <3

Maxi dress and cross body bags are the best combo and I can see you absolutely are rocking this look :) good thing that you have gotten yourself some MJ flats already! They are no longer in production!
ReplyDeleteIt's been great for grabbing them on sale though, being discontinued ;)
DeleteI love the second outfit, how it's so stylish with the black against a bright bag (which, by the way, I like the simplicity of). Sometimes I feel like bright bags can be too much complicated with the color and whatever added accessories it has, but this one looks really good with your outfit! :)

I'm finding it really wearable! Like you said it works well with black :)
DeleteBeautiful as always!! I love the first dress

Yes I love my pops of colour with my bags...but tend to go neutral with my shoes!
DeleteGreat outfits!
ReplyDeleteI love your new bag! Such a great color! And a cross body is so much easier, especially when you have your hands full with two little ones...
Have a wonderful weekend, Mica!

It really is great having the cross body!
DeleteYou have lost quite a lot of weight after the baby, how many kg/lbs is your aim? With a constant hungry baby, ease of breastfeeding must be one of the things to consider when choosing an outfit I guess :) You look lovely in both of the outfits :)
ReplyDeleteEla BellaWorld
haha I think a lot of it was fluid retention and swelling from the humidity! I didn't get weighed often in pregnancy and I don't have scales at home (I'd never fit on the kitchen scales, ha!) so I don't know what I weighed at the end or how much I've lost.
DeleteJust breastfeeding (which helps with weight loss) and eating as healthy as I used to, I'm enjoying being able to eat salads again. Focusing more on baby than anything.
Love seeing your red bag! It looks great with the outfit you picked.

I think it's so brilliant that you can get such stylish clothes that can work alongside your role as a mum! What a great idea for a dress to make it easier for you to feed your little one! And such a gorgeous colour!
ReplyDeleteMusings & More
Yes it's great to have an easy 'dressy' option I can still easily feed in :)
DeleteGreat outfit..I love your new bag!

You look stunning my dear, and love all of your bags :) x

Oo I was looking at the black marc jacobs flats before, they look so cute and versatile! I have a pair of the mouse flats from Marc Jacobs and the've lasted for 3 years and it's still very intact! I love it! I love your bright pops in our outfits!!
ReplyDeleteMacarons and Mischief
Yes I find they are really good quality! I love mine :)
DeleteLooking great mama!! I shy away from maxi dresses because of my petite frame but maybe I can borrow some styling from your second outfit. yay!!
ReplyDelete♥ from www.expatpetite.blogspot.com
I'm petite too! :) This is supposed to be an ankle length maxi dress, it skims the floor for me, haha!
DeleteI used to be all about huge throw and go bags. Recently, I have been super into my cross body bags. I don't have a lot of them, but they are def something I can see myself picking up more of in the future. The bag I currently carry, is an Olivia + Joy zip zoom tote and it's literally the biggest bag I have ever seen! So big, it can carry a tablet, a camera, two drinks and MORE! It does make for a nice work bag. (;
ReplyDeleteBig bags are perfect for work, definitely! I'm finding cross body bags more practical at the moment though for sure :)
DeleteThat is a beautiful maxi dress! Love your second looks as well! I have been enjoying wearing my maxi skirts and dresses. I am looking to finally going shopping and finding more maxis to add to my collection.
ReplyDeleteOh I remember the days of two under 2! You look great for how tired I know you must be! That pink maxi dress is super cute. I love the ruffle around the bottom! I still have some maternity pieces that are so comfortable and my youngest is 3 years old! But hey, whatever works, is comfortable, feels great, and looks good, right? You look amazing in both maxi styles!
ReplyDeleteShelbee

Yep, comfort is key! And it is a little hectic with two under 2 but I wouldn't have it any other way :)
DeleteHi Mica... I saw this dress before and loved it each time you rocked it. The color looks great on you and the pink gives you an intriguing glow. Gorgeous style my lady.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day

Exactly! :)
DeleteI loved wearing maxi dresses in those early post-partum days, because no matter how jiggly i felt, their length made me feel super stylish. I love that shade of pink on you, it looks fab and double bonus for being able to breast feed in it. That's always so tricky with dresses.
