Pink and Navy Outfits With Small Chloe Paraty Bag

This has been the spring of pink and blue! Sharing another two more pink and blue outfits with my beautiful small Chloe Paraty bag in periwinkle being the perfect accessory for both outfits, despite the different shades in my clothes.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

This was a busy day in the school holidays! We had a bunch of errands to run in the morning, and with the sudden warmth spring bought, Cooper had been very badly due for a trim. We dropped him at the groomers before crossing a few more things off the to-do list and buying some presents for upcoming birthday parties. Then we had to head home while I worked from home and the kids entertained themselves for a few hours - luckily they were quiet for most of my meetings that day.

This pink tee has been on frequent repeat lately. I haven't hit 30 wears with it yet but it might be my most worn tee this year, particularly in recent months. I've worn it with printed culotte shorts recently, but it's the first time I've paired it with these navy printed ones that I have hit 30 wears with. Because it was such a hot day, simple shorts, tee and Havaianas was all I needed, especially with all the running around we had to do.

Tried being a little matchy-matchy with the gold hardware on my small Chloe Paraty bag with the gold necklace and gold and black bracelet stack as well.

Why I wore it:

I often reach for these pink leopard print jeans in spring! There's something so spring-like about the bright pink leopard print, and they are incredibly fun jeans to wear. Blue has to be the colour I wear with them most often, so I thought I'd mix it up a little with this navy graphic tee that has a purple print on it so it was a little different from all the other times I've paired a navy top with these jeans! It was a quiet Sunday, we didn't have too much on, just an appointment for my son, so jeans and a tee was nice and comfortable. And the Chloe Paraty bag fits more than it looks like - had a little library book in there to read while waiting for our appointment.

Again I stuck with my Havaianas - the warm spring weather is making me want to take a break from my sneakers and Converse!

30 Ways To Wear Blue Printed Shorts ~ #30wears Challenge

With summer approaching, seemed like the perfect time to feature another pair of shorts for this month's 30 ways to wear post! It's these cute blue 'Scarlette' printed soft shorts from Jeanswest.

30 Ways To Wear: Blue Printed Shorts

Cost Per Wear:

I bought these blue printed shorts at Jeanswest back in 2014, so I don't remember the exact price! A similar pair of printed shorts I bought more recently were $35.99, so I'd assume these were around the same price. It means they are just over the $1 cost-per-wear figure people aim to get to, but given that they still look brand new and I still love them, I'll definitely get them down to less than a dollar per wear!

Blue Printed Shorts With Grey Tees

A grey tee is a classic fall-back for me. Not sure what to wear? Throw on a grey top or tee! The neutral colour works so well with any print and is a simple fuss-free way to get dressed quickly.

Printed Shorts And Basic Tanks

Just like the grey tops above, other basic block colours work well with printed shorts. I like bold colour combinations with these shorts like the pink and purple tanks, but of course you can stick with other neutrals like black too.

Blue Printed Shorts And Yellow

As you've seen in the outfit photos above, I like adding little yellow touches when wearing these blue shorts. Yellow and blue is just such a cheerful colour combination! Basic yellow tanks like the ones above pair so nicely with prints, as you can let the colour mix be the star without worrying about prints clashing, keeping things nice and simple.

Printed Shorts In A Monochrome Outfit

As much as I love wearing other colours with these shorts, sometimes you just want a classic monochromatic outfit. Blue is a very common colour in my wardrobe, so I've had a lot of blue tops I could wear with these shorts! You can keep things entirely monochromatic, or use the monochrome outfit base to add other colours through your accessories like I have with the necklaces and pink bag.

Blue Printed Shorts And Light Layers

Shorts are definitely a summer staple, but you can layer them ever so slightly despite the heat. Sleeveless vets in contrasting colours, or bright kimonos are nice layers to add for some extra interest to your outfit without overheating!

Printed Shorts And Ankle Boots

When it's not quite summer or summer is starting to fade, you can still wear your shorts. I like to wear ankle boots with shorts for spring and autumn, and of course you can add a cosy knit like the blue cardigan or grey jumper if you need a little extra warmth. It's a good way to get more wear from your favourite shorts.

Print Mixing: Printed Shorts And Stripes

I've shown a lot of basic block colour pieces with these printed shorts, but it's fun to pattern mix with them too! I really like wearing stripes with these shorts - I find the navy and white stripes tie in with the colours in the print really nicely, but other colours of stripes like the grey and white work well too.

Blue Printed Shorts And Detailed Tops

Took me a while to think of how to classify these outfits! The trio is all quite detailed tops, paired with the printed shorts. Despite the tops being interesting statement pieces on their own, I think they all work so nicely with the top as the colours with white and blue echo the colours in the print of the shorts. Some fun and different outfits that show you don't just have to stick to pairing only basics with printed pieces.

Two Ways To Wear Jeanswest Waterfall Drape Cardigan in Navy

I bought some new cardigans recently to celebrate the cooler weather in Brisbane! You might have seen in Monday's office wear post how to wear them in the office, but today I'm picking the navy one and showing you two different ways to wear it.

This is the new season Jeanswest waterfall drape cardigan, which has two buttons on the top and button holes in the hem. It means you can button up one side as an impromptu breastfeeding cover, or you can button up both hems and wear it like a cowl neck knit.

While it's winter now, it was still a mild autumn when I wore this cardigan for the first time, so I'm wearing it with shorts in both outfits.

Why I wore it:

I was so eager to squeeze in another wear of these shorts, in my effort to hit 30 wears on them before the summer weather really ended. With the ankle boots and long cardigan, they were just warm enough for the last of our summer heat before autumn truly set in. The blue shorts were an obvious choice to wear with the navy cardigan as I love wearing these shorts with navy pieces to create monochrome outfits.

The mustard cardigan is something I've worn frequently with these shorts too, I really like yellow and blue together. A nice cheerful and colourful outfit, yet still practical for working from home and doing the daycare drop off / pick up.

Why I wore it:

There was a little more rushing around when I wore this outfit. We had some errands to run and a doctor's appointment in the morning. I thought the cardigan buttoned up and worn like a tank would be perfect with shorts, as it was quite a sunny day. It was also rather windy though, so I did regret choosing shorts when walking between stores and giving Cooper his afternoon walk when the wind picked up.

The magenta Balenciaga Day bag is my favourite part of this outfit - it really pops with the navy cardigan. If it had been a less windy day, I would have liked this outfit more I'm sure. It was still warm in the sun, so jeans would have been too much with the cardigan buttoned up like this though. Not a bad outfit, just not the best for the weather that day!

How You Can Wear It:

During those in-between seasons where it's not too hot or not too cold, a cardigan can be a good option with some shorts! A neutral navy cardigan like this will go with so much too. While this has buttons to take the hems up, you could easily replicate the second outfit with a waterfall drape cardigan you own and a brooch or pin.

Grey Knits and Soft Shorts In Autumn With Balenciaga Tempete Day Bag

When you want to wear all your autumn/winter knits but the weather isn't cooperating, try wearing them with shorts! With our extremely warm start to autumn I wore this outfit combination a few times to wear some cosier pieces without overheating.

Why I wore it:

The perfect opportunity to wear one of my recently unboxed winter knits. While I keep my summer pieces in my wardrobe year round, I have no need for winter knits and scarves and leather jackets most of the year here in Brisbane, so I box them away. Unboxing them when the weather changes is always so fun, even if it does lead to the inevitable 'I have no space in my wardrobe' and 'why do I have so many clothes?!' freak outs when I try find a spot in my wardrobe for it all.

It was a cooler morning and we were spending the day playing outside in the shade at playgroup, so I thought this knit would work well with shorts and ankle boots. It was the perfect weather and outfit and I loved wearing this. With the embellishment on the knit I wasn't sure at first if it would work with the printed shorts, but with a lot of white in the print I thought they tied together nicely when I put them on. I really enjoyed wearing this outfit.

Why I wore it:

Since I enjoyed the outfit above so much, I thought I'd try the formula again. I should have checked the weather before I did so, it was a warmer than usual day and I did regret the knit at a few points. Fun day though! We had our local ABA mother's group in the morning, a little shopping in the afternoon and then I got changed and we headed down the coast for dinner with my family.

It's the first time I've worn this necklace, an item sold as a fundraiser for ABA. With the silver beads and print I thought it would match nicely with my silver foil knit and tempete Balenciaga day bag.
Last time I wore a normal necklace to the ABA I regretted the decision - spending my stay at home mum days at playgroup or mother's group means baby-friendly necklaces are the best choice! While my boys are past the teething stage, my friend's baby adored chewing on this necklace as I held him for a moment while my friend was busy with her other son. I think I'll be wearing baby friendly necklaces for a while, even though my boys are toddlers now!

I did think that the necklace, knit and bag all worked well together but I'm not too sure about the olive shorts. I usually find green a tricky colour to wear, I think a neutral bag might have been better with this outfit.

Thin knit jumpers like these are great pieces that you can wear by themselves in spring and autumn or layered up with things over or under them in winter. If the weather isn't the perfect coldness, you can still wear them with shorts as I have above. Definitely pieces you can get a lot of wear from outside of winter.

Two Ways To Wear Rebecca Minkoff Ruana Poncho with Shorts: Adding Autumn Layers to Summer Outfits

When I stumbled across this Rebecca Minkoff knit poncho / kimono in the Shopbop sale I couldn't get it out of my head. I have no shortage of kimonos in my wardrobe, but it is different from any of the ones I already owned. From the fall/winter collection, it's a thick and cosy acrylic knit that I knew would be perfect for autumn or winter outfits when it gets too chilly to wear my thinner kimonos.

I hadn't planned to wear it with shorts, I was thinking of cooler temperatures and jeans! But it was good to take advantage of the cooler mornings and evenings in this mild Brisbane autumn and throw it on as an extra layer with my shorts.

Why I wore it:

Kept things simple this time I wore the kimono. As it was predicted to rain, I thought this would be perfect to keep cosy as we ran a few errands before and after our Australian Breastfeeding Association mothers group. Picked the Converse as a practical choice too, although we were lucky to get home just before the storms rolled in, the rain and thunder chased us home!

I was going to wear a colourful necklace with this, one of my baby-friendly teething ones, but decided at the last moment to keep things completely monochrome and went with a silver necklace to match the silver foil stripes on the tee and silver bag. I ended up having a conversation with a friend about how I might just stick to baby friendly necklaces for the group in future - this necklace got tugged on quite a few times, and that was just by my boys!

Usually I'll add a little colour to a monochrome outfit, but with the print mixing with the print on the kimono and the striped tee, I felt my outfit was busy enough. I really liked this outfit, and I'm looking forward to wearing this kimono more as the weather continues to cool in Brisbane.

Why I wore it:

This was a much more colourful outfit to wear with the black and white kimono. This had seemed like a great idea in my head, but I felt it was a little busy when I looked back at the photos. I did really like the mustard tank under the kimono though, I'm going to have to give that a try again.

Was a busy day with daycare drop off and pick up and working from home, but at the last minute Baby Boy's specialist appointment was postponed so that freed up the evening a little and gave me a little more time to do the daycare pickup and get dinner organised.

Although it's the first time I've worn the kimono with these pieces, I have worn the tank and shorts together before. I like wearing these blue shorts with yellow, so cheerful and colourful.

How You Can Wear It:

Cosy knitted ponchos or kimonos make great layers when the weather starts to cool in autumn or when it hasn't warmed up enough in spring. A classic black and white one works just was well with a monochrome outfit as it does with a bold and colourful one, so it's easier to wear more often.

Long Sleeve Tops and Shorts with Rebecca Minkoff Neon Pink Mini MAC

While waiting for autumn weather to arrive in Brisbane, I tried to make my outfits a little more autumn-like by wearing longer sleeved tops with my shorts. It's a good option for a day that's not too warm, not too cold.

I didn't love both of these outfits the same though, even though they followed the same outfit formula and I carried the same neon pink Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC with them both.

Why I wore it:

After spending a few days in bed unwell, on Friday I felt like getting out of the house. I was lucky to have my mum help me with the boys. It was school holidays so we took them along to one of the free activities at the shopping centre, a dinosaur exhibit. They both loved it! By the end of the day though, I was exhausted and felt I'd pushed myself a little too far - had a cruisy weekend after that!

I was so sure I'd worn this embroidered top and the blue soft shorts together before. With them being blue and white, and loving a bit of matchy matchy, I was so sure I'd have already worn them together. I was surprised to look through the blog and find out I hadn't! I really liked the combination. In the cooler morning and air conditioning at the shopping centre, the longer length sleeves were perfect. Of course I couldn't resist adding a little pop of colour, so brought out my neon pink mini MAC bag again. It's been a little while between wears, so it was definitely overdue a wear.

Why I wore it:

Following the same outfit formula as the one above, picking a longer sleeved top and pairing it with my soft shorts. I didn't like this outfit as much as the one above. It was a relaxed day with a couple of errands so loose light layers seemed like a good idea in the morning. It was also unfortunately a very hot and humid day, and I was wishing I hadn't gone with such a warm top! It was the last touch of summer before the rain and cooler autumn weather arrived, 32 degrees (90 fahrenheit).

I did like the colours of this outfit though - I love grey and pink together, and have started to try wearing olive and pink together too. The neon mini MAC was such a fun splash of colour. And it was a perfectly comfortable outfit for sitting around playing with the boys after we ran all our errands.

Long sleeved tops and shorts work well together in spring or autumn where it's not warm enough to bare arms and legs at the same time. If it does heat up through the day, you can always push or roll the sleeves on your top up too.

Two Ways to Wear: Jeanswest Chana Long Sleeve Studded Navy Boho Peasant Top With Balenciaga City and Rebecca Minkoff Regan

When I got the email that Jeanswest had a sale on, I hopped on the site for a quick browse. I saw this top and instantly fell in love, and purchased it the same day. Originally $59, reduced to $20, I couldn't say no! While it's got the tassels and the studs, it's still a lovely neutral navy, and I can see it going with so much in my wardrobe. I wore it below for a casual day of shopping, and more formally for a day at the office.

After a busy few weeks, I was really looking forward to a relaxing day of shopping. As relaxing as it can be with two little boys in tow! Overall, they were pretty good. We had time to browse a few stores. I had a hunt through the Jeanswest sale again, and while I tried some things on nothing came home with me. My sister did buy this star print tee which you might remember I bought last month! We have quite a few of the same or similar pieces in our wardrobes actually, so I wasn't surprised when she picked it up.

With the navy top and navy shorts together, I wanted something to break it up a little. I was originally going to wear my pink Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag, but felt a bigger pop of colour was needed. The sorbet pink Balenciaga city bag was perfect, and it meant I could be matchy matchy with the Balenciaga sandals as well, not just the top and shorts.

Why I wore it:

I woke up this morning not feeling too great, but figured it was because of a busier than weekend. Put on this lovely top to boost my mood, and the Rebecca Minkoff Regan bag as I like how nicely the navy colours work together. Once I was at work I realised I couldn't shake the head cold, and ended up going home a little early after my final meeting for the day. I intended to rest up for a couple hours before the boys got home from daycare, with the idea that I'd feel better the next day after resting. Unfortunately, I did not. I ended up being pretty sick for a few days - as were the boys, which didn't help with resting and recovering! Thankfully we are all feeling much better now.


I'm glad it was a warm enough morning that I didn't need a blazer with this so that it was easier to see the fun studded sleeve detail. I did wish at the end of the day when I started getting feverish that I'd had a scarf in my bag to wrap myself up in though. Heading home to bed was the next best thing!
