I don't mind the look of some of these outfits - I pulled out all my old staple formulas, like stripes with everything, and blue and pink. I just find a vest a frustrating piece to wear. It doesn't keep my arms warm so it's not a cold weather piece but it doesn't provide shoulder coverage either so it's a bad piece for summer. Vests and I just don't get along! I love the look of this vest but it just never seemed like a must-have for my outfits. And I always felt like I "should" wear it rather than wanting to wear it so it wasn't one that worked in my wardrobe.
If you're on the fence about vests, or you want some ideas for how to wear a similar waterfall vest you might already own, here's some of the ways I wore this old one I had a few years ago.
Blush Vest And Dresses
A long waterfall vest like this blush one looks great worn over a dress! Here I've tried the blue and pink combo I love so much, and for something different even tried to belt this vest in the first outfit. It's good to try little things like adding a belt to mix things up.
Blush Vest and Shorts
Blush Vest and Jeans
Can't go wrong with an outfit staple of jeans and a tee, and for something a little different I tried adding the blush waterfall vest on top. Again you can see the monochrome column of colour in these outfits too.

I had a waterfall vest like that in cream - such a good layering piece for me in the summer when I needed just a little something because of the a/c. So versatile!

Kellyann
Yes it's a nice summer piece, I just couldn't make it work for me!
DeleteIt's really nice to test those two things =)
ReplyDeleteThanks, my week starts nice. Hope yours too =)
Great post with nice outfits =)
It's sad that summer is over, so this would be too cold. But it's nice to wear hoodies now <3 :D
Yea, I'm more of a Winter vest girl. Give me a faux fur vest and I'll pop it over a simple sweater. That style is definitely harder to wear since it's so light. But I think you did a great job styling it in those looks!

I struggle in colder weather as I just want warm arms too so I think vets are not for me in warm or cold weather, haha!
DeleteI love that way in which you are using the same pieces of wardrobes mixing them with another <3
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week dear xx
Mica, I have always found vests challenging as well. Now I sort of view them as an accessory instead of an actual article of clothing. The waterfall style vests like yours I have always found particularly difficult to style but I think you did a great job with it! The color is really pretty on you, too. I really like how you approached this theme and shared the vest you had and why it didn’t work for you. Great post, my friend!
ReplyDeleteShelbee
Thanks - I did try this quite a few times and I didn't hate all the outfits but it wasn't for me! Better to stick with pieces I love to wear :)

I never know how to wear vests either, so I am hearing you. I do love a waterfall cardigan, and your post has inspired me to try wearing it with a belt, which I never did before! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh I love belting my waterfall cardigans too! Glad I could give you the idea :)
DeleteCute vest. I haven't had a vest like that in a long time. The color is so versatile for mixing and matching.
ReplyDeleteI love that you shared these older photos even if you didn't like how the vest worked for you Mica.
ReplyDeleteI think of a vest like this as a kimono without sleeves, and it's surprising you didn't love these because you love kimonos.
Don't give up on ALL vests though because there are ones that are very different. You may find one for a deal at your Op store, and then it wouldn't hurt as much if you didn't like it??

DeleteYes I do love my kimonos - the sleeves are the best bit as they are physical sunblock too! I feel I couldn't really get along with this vest, and I haven't liked cold weather vets (pre-blog) so I think that they are not for me!
These are great ways of styling a vest, Mica. I do like that they can work well with certain items in our wardrobe but like you, I am not a huge fan. I have a puffer vest that I wear once or twice a year just because I don't really know how to wear it. But at the same time, I don't want to give it up.

Yes I wanted to try wear this and get to 30 wears with it, but it just didn't work for me. I'd rather wear pieces I love and feel comfortable in and find easy to style! :)
DeleteYou're right, this does look good with stripes!
ReplyDeleteCorinne x
Stripes are the best - they go with everything!
DeleteYou look super cute! Blush is one of my favorite colors to wear! I always find myself gravitating towards this color when I am shopping for clothes! Have a great week!

I made myself a similar piece (crocheted) several years ago. I've never worn it.
ReplyDeleteOh such a shame I hope you do get to wear and enjoy it soon, after spending a while making it!
DeleteI love vests, but mine are all more structured. I think they are great for warmth, but when you don't live in a really cold area, then I can see why you may not wear a vest much.
ReplyDeleteI agree that vests can be tricky, Mica, but I like styling them with long sleeved tops for warmer spring and fall days! The color of this one is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a great week so far!

Yeah I like my arms to be warm when it's cold so cold weather vests aren't for me either, even with long sleeved tees, haha!
DeleteI understand vests are trickier than they seem, but you did a great job styling them.

What a beautiful waterfall cardigan!
ReplyDeleteGreat combination of cloths and colours, Mica ... It's a nice post!
You were smart to pass it on! Sometimes that's the best thing to do rather than let a piece take up valuable real estate in your closet! You styled some great looks and given lots of inspo! I've been wanting an argyle sweater vest and eyeing one up!
ReplyDeleteYes I'm trying to be more honest with what I own and making sure I have things that I'm happy to wear, rather than holding on to things "just in case" and having them take up space!
DeleteWow super cute ❤
ReplyDeletei love the jacket with dresses more but if i am looking for a more relaxed look, would go with vest and jeans
ReplyDeleteGlowyshoe's blog
While I like a waterfall cardigan, it doesn't always work for me as a vest: I just got rid of a thrifted one I just didn't wear. I am finding that sometimes things just don't work and I have to forgive myself for spending money on them.
ReplyDeletewww.chezmireillefashiontravelmom.com
Yes! It's better to be honest and pass it on than keep it around "just in case" and feel bad as it's never worn! Because it was so infrequently worn too I know it would go on to be enjoyed by someone else!
DeleteTrying to be more ruthless with my wardrobe so I can do this for other pieces that no longer work for me too, but it's hard going sometimes!
Great outfits!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colour of your waterfall vest and all the ways you styled it!

Hello Mica, I hope you're having a lovely week so far!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a niece piece for the in between seasons. I used to have a similar garment (more similar to a suit vest) and I remember I used to wear a lot (I lost it unfortunately). I feel like it is a good way to add layers during hot days, making an outfit a bit more interesting.
I think the color is also really nice, it suits you well and it combines pretty good with the rest of your garments.... specially with stripes!

It's a shame you lost it when you used to wear it so much! I feel this one didn't get worn as much as it deserved so it was good I could pass it on :) Even if it was a beautiful colour!
DeleteI have a blush vest and I haven't worn it as much as when I first got it. Thank you for these refreshing ideas, you are so good with documenting your looks through photos and posts!

DeleteVery fine outfits. You look great ;)
ReplyDeleteI love vests for layering!

A piece like that could really be tricky, but you managed it wonderfully, Mica!
ReplyDeleteLove especially the blush shade: the combo with blue and denim looks perfect!

Vests are funny, aren't they, Mica? They add bulk to the middle, they don't keep one's arms warm, and they can get in the way. I am with you on these long vests - I have one black one that I keep due to the bling on it and the fact that it has pockets!
ReplyDeleteI commend you on knowing what works for you and what doesn't - you know yourself better than anyone!
Thanks Sheila, I'm trying to be honest and ruthless with my wardrobe! I do just find vests too tricky!
DeleteMica! I love the way you style outfits. So stylish and creative! Lovely Post dear! xoxo

You sure know how to wear the cardigan in so many ways looking fabulous in each look.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing my dear!
ReplyDeleteThe color and silhouette of this vest are lovely and you've certainly found some great ways to up it's versatility with all the outfits you've managed to style it into. It looks quite striking paired with navy.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that vests can be a challenge to style. I tend to stay away from them because I never like how they look on me! But you styled yours very creatively and so cute!

Yes I think they are not a style for me either, although I was able to wear this one a few times!
DeleteI just love all of the different ways you have worn this piece! It is beautiful and your creativity makes it even more remarkable <3

I’m not a vest wearer either. I try, but I’m not sure why it doesn’t work for me. Buuuuut I adore them on other people. I love the color of yours — pink is a neutral in my book.
ReplyDeleteSame here - I like it on others, and I did like some of these outfits, but not a style for me!

ReplyDeleteLindo chaleco, te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative in coming up with so many combos!
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic as always, Mica.
I don't have a waterfall vest. Actually, I don't wear vest because I find it too troublesome. It is just me. You look great in those outfits.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm glad I gave this a try, but vests aren't a style for me either.
DeleteThanks all for your comments!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful, Mica! Love your blush long vest. It mixes well with all your blues!

You look really great in this vest, but I totally get it not really feeling right. I really appreciate the fact that you didn't just go out, and buy a new vest just for the post.

Great outfit! It suits you very much: both style and colors)
ReplyDeleteIt's always better to donate something you don't wear since someone else might fall in love with it.
ReplyDeleteI actually rarely wear waterfall vests, but I'm a huge fan of denim, leather and fuzzy winter vests :)
